Advantages Advantages Digital. Small. Easy to use. Good reception.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Accessories cost a bomb. Poor sound through the integral speaker

I have eclectic music tastes. I like folk, rock (think Jethro Tull, The Who, and others of that ilk) with a smattering of classical. I loathe hip-hop, any genre named after a dwelling (House, Garage - what's next - shed?!), pop; indeed, most of what is played on mainstream radio stations these days. Therefore, when our team at work received an award, allowing us to pick a gift from a selection, I chose a digital radio, specifically, the Pure One Classic (aka the Pure Digital One). I was attracted by the idea of having a veritable cornucopia of stations to choose from - surely there would be a ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Value, Good Features, Fantastic Quality Sound

Disadvantages Disadvantages Silly Placement of the Mains Plug At The Back

I have always been a fan of the radio and although I have quite specific music tastes, I enjoy having the variety and general natter of a radio on in the background, especially to reduce boredom or to make a place seem a little more alive when your home alone. The Pure One Digital DAB Radio is the first and only DAB radio I have owned, you’ve got to move with the times right? I had been thinking about purchasing one for a while after hearing good things about this little radio and have now been enjoying it for about 6 months. The Pure One comes in a choice of 3 colours; black, pink and white ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple to use, stylish, robust, affordable.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing to note.

If you are looking for a stylish, simple, easy to operate with a sleek design then the Pure One Classic certainly has to be considered. With DAB digital radio's coming to the fore with the ever-growing number of digital radio stations available the decision is a no-brainer, right? Right! The Pure One Classic has a simple black finish, with a number of polished silver knobs and buttons. The aerial is situated to the top of the radio and the screen is small but perfectly adequate. The screen may be too small for those hard of sight, but in general it is a perfectly functional size and displays a ... more

Advantages Advantages great sound and range of stations, portable, looks good

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit expensive

I won this radio in competition a couple of years ago. Obviously I didn't pay anything but I believe you can get them from amazon for £50 - £80. When the radio arrived it was packaged in a box along with an AC power adapter, an instruction manual and a two year warranty card. Appearance This radio comes in different colors including white, pink and the one I have, black. The plastic surface is shiny and smooth to touch. On the front there is a large speaker which takes up the left hand side. On the right at the top is a small screen. The screen shows not only the time and station name but also ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks Nice, good features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It stopped working

I asked for one of these Pure Classic DAB radios for Christmas as I thought it looked a good radio with some extras on it that I hadn't seen on other radios for the same price band. The radio I got was black in colour although they seem to do quite a few different colours of it. The radio has a nice feel to it like a moleskin feel, sort of velvety and makes you want to keep touching it as it feels so nice. It looks smart as well, it has a space on one side where it gives you the information on what station you have tuned in to etc. The dial and buttons are all nice and shiny silver in colour ... more

Advantages Advantages Portable, Great sound, good range of stations.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Eats through normal batteries.

First things first... The rechargeable battery (Chargepak) that is available makes this radio 10 times better, making it portable and useful in every situation. The battery costs about 30 pounds and is recharged inside the unit and gives about 8 hours DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasts) use per charge a lot more on FM. Well back to the actual unit. The main benefits of this unit are DAB digital radio which gives you all your favourite channels and more in CD quality sound (no more crack and whistle). There is also a FM radio feature but no AM radio (but with digital quality radio 5 on DAB who will ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent sound quality, looks great and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Being picky, a colour display would be nice

I got given this DAB radio for my birthday and I think it is superb. The radio quality is top notch. It has a lot of radio stations on offer and the quality is consistently good. The feel of it when you pick it up is really nice, a sort of soft felt-like exterior. The alarm works brilliantly. You can put it up extremely loudly too so you can get blasted out of bed or just on standard volume if you want to relax in bed whilst having some good music on. Mine has yet to fail to go off. No setup needed either, it's just plug in and go...not sure how it always knows the time! The screen at the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great sound, easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No alarm

I've had my PURE DAB for about a year, and I love it, it's fast become something that I wouldn't want to live without. It's incredibly easy to use - simple settings which allow you to tune the radio with ease, and set favourites for stations you use frequently. There are such an impressive range of radio stations available via a digital radio, from all genres of music to spoken word performances of comedy, plays and books. The other advantage of digital radio is the greatly improved sound quality, and the PURE certainly delivers on this score. I'd recommend this for anyone who is interested in ... more
