4 Stars Here Beginneth My Digital Radio Revolution Review with images 07/03/2009

Advantages Advantages Small-form and easy operation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Mains only unless you purchase the expensive battery pack

***NOTE: I apologise with the formatting of this review, it just won't work. I hope it doesn't cause you problems while reading. *** Well folks it is time for the digital radio revolution. Aah, who am I kidding? I am getting into Digital Radio very late compared to when it first became available in the 1990s. I had an 18-year old twin cassette/radio player and was happy enough with the retro look and function of it, until it was finally sent to radio heaven by my builders last year. So new (almost) house and I need a radio for the kitchen. Inexplicably there is now so much variety with radios ... more

Advantages Advantages Great sound quality, extremely easy to use, portable and good quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages the need to buy a seperate battery pack, no use if you can't get a digital signal

Pure digital one mini I was sick of hearing all about digital radios and the scare stories that we needed them or we’d never be able to listen to our favourite music stations ever again when they switch of the analogue signal. What they fail to mention is that this isn’t strictly true since most of us have access to digital radio in different ways such as through the computer or through freeview/sky/cable. Anyway I was suckered into this propaganda and I had to have one so off I trundled down to the shops to have a look. What I found there shocked me as the prices were astronomical for what ... more

Advantages Advantages Ideal size, nice looking, easy to use, clock display, not too expensive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't need it if you have high speed internet already!

--What you get-- Quality digital radio with bright digital style screen featuring time, date and radio station, extendable aerial for DAB and FM radio, with a power and volume control on the top and side respectively and a cable with a plug. --Value for money-- Got this one for approximately £35, so excellent value for money considering I use it most days, at least three times a week and so does my boyfriend. --Ease of use-- I found the product very easy to use, with the intuitive clearly labelled button and volume control knob and I consider this product would be simple to use even for a ... more

Advantages Advantages Good sound qulaity and lightweight

Disadvantages Disadvantages need extra battery pack

I wanted a totally portable little DAB radio and bought this Pure Digital ONE Mini for £25. They came in a choice of various colours, pink, white or black and I opted for the black one as I liked the glossy finish and I just thought it looked a slightly better quality and possibly a bit more modern and stylish. Besides, why on earth would I want a pink radio? It is very small and very compact at approximately 13cm x 13cm and it is also very lightweight and therefore easy to transport around, whiich is exactly what I was after. I take it to work some days and use it on my desk, I use it in the ... more

Advantages Advantages small, portable, great quality sound

    Disadvantages Disadvantages batteries not included,

FOR THE RECORD, this radio does not have an alarm. Ciao does not have a non applicable option so had to rate the non existant alarm quality as "very poor". I bought this radio to sit on my desk at work or keep around the house. The idea of it being digital, small and compact was what originally made me buy it. The unit also has a battery compartment so it can run off batteries, perfect for using the radio in the garden, or at the beach. However, the packaging didn't say that the unit requires it's own special battery and doesn't work off normal rechargeable batteries. The battery is an ... more

Advantages Advantages portability, great sound, save on batteries in the long run.

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of carry handle, purchase of separate battery

I adored my Pure One but found it not as portable as I would have liked and if I'm honest just a bit lazy not wanting to cart it around the house! So I decided to get a second Pure for my bedroom. I was delighted to find that Pure had made a smaller much more portable version of the One so immediately set out to make it mine. It's great for taking down to the greenhouse, or listening to by the bedside with a little headphone for the insomniac me. It's even small enough to pop into my hand bag to take to work. It does not have as many features as the larger model : Dab/FM button, info button ... more

Advantages Advantages Small and portable, Neat, Tidy looking, Great sound quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Confusing without a detailed instruction manual, does not come with a battery

I have had a few different Clock-Radios (one previously a DAB) and this is the most compact but admittedly the most confusing/unclear to use. The scrolling radio station function is OK, simply scroll through the stations using the volume/track dial and press the dial to select. However i have not discovered any other functions as of yet and the instruction manual was unclear/brief to say the least. The radio is small enough to perch on a small shelf or to use with a laptop (it is very portable) so it's great for me to take from room to room and to plug in in the kitchen when i am cooking. But ... more
