When I was growing up we always had pyrex branded products in the house - mixing bowls, oven dishes, jugs - they were all pyrex. However, when the time came for me to move out I was astonished by how expensive pyrex was compared to similar products from less well known brands. I would have preferred to buy pyrex however I had to furnish an entire flat so money wasnt really readily available. Therefore, I bought cheaper versions of items until I could afford to upgrade. One mistake I made was buying a cheap plastic mixing bowl. Although it served its purpose I suppose it was so much more ... more

My first Pyrex! I have quite a wide range of Pyrex dishes, but I believe this was the very first one I owned as I am sure I have had this now for years. I think it was bought for me not long after moving house - no doubt by my mum who is always keen to encourage me to cook. The bowl I have is the 1 litre version and it costs around the £5 mark. There are also a range of other sizes available including half a litre, and 2 and 3 litre versions. Pyrex is of course a household name, and I think it is definitely a brand you can trust. As mentioned, I have a lot of Pyrex products, and they are all ... more

When I moved into my new home a few years ago I bought a large amount of kitchenware and chose Pyrex as a brand for many of my items. Pyrex has been making glassware since the 1940's and is a household brand name when it comes to glassware. These products are extremely reliable and this is backed up by their 10 year manufacturer's guarantee. *Price and availability* I have seen this bowl in three sizes; the 1.0 L, 2.0 L and the 3.0 L. The one I purchased was £3.99 and was 2.0 L. I bought mine from my local supermarket but they are widely available on the internet. I recently bought a set of ... more

I could not possibly omit to mention my classic Pyrex bowl amongst my range of Pyrex dishes as this was possibly one of the very first Pyrex dishes I ever owned. I’ve had this same original bowl since the day I was married, so it’s obviously hard wearing, very tough and built to last a long tome. I use this bowl on a very regular basis and it comes in so useful for a lot of purposes. It’s clear glass and the one I have is the one litre version but there are also two other larger sizes available, one being the two litre and the other the largest three litre. Alongside all my other Pyrex dishes ... more

My current boyfriend is chef (lucky me lol), in fact my last boyfriend was a chef as well and the one thing they both have in common apart from me and a love of cooking is their love of Pyrex. I'm lucky enough to have my boyfriend cooking for me a lot and one thing he kept moaning about was not having a mixing bowl or two to use for when preparing dressings and sauces and so on. I've had a few plastic ones in my time that did the job but got discoloured so I nipped onto my all time favourite site (other than this one of course!) and got buying a few Pyrex items and this was one of them and it ... more

When I moved in with my partner, we went out and bought the basics, trying to save as money as possible, just to get us started. We bought a Pyrex 1 litre bowl, it was kind of an impulse buy, but I knew that it would come in handy around the house as I always used the one in my parent’s house when I lived there. This bowl is great, it can be used for so many things, and ours has survived the basic wear and tear in the kitchen and hasn’t been broke yet, even though it has been accidently dropped a few times (from the kitchen table which is quite low in our house). I usually use this bowl when I ... more

I have a lot of Pyrex products in my kitchen, as I suspect most people have also - and it's just one of those staple products that we don't realise how much we rely on them because we take them for granted just being there all the time. But these products really do make life a lot easier in the kitchen. One such product I own is the Pyrex Toughened Glassware Bowl which has a 2 litre capacity. I have owned this bowl for about ten years - and it's still with us and still going strong. While I can't say how much I paid for it all of those years ago, I can tell you that it is currently available ... more

Pyrex glass bowl 1 litre. This is not the smallest Pyrex glass bowl you can get there is a 0.5 litre glass bowl. The1 litre Pyrex glass bowl that I have is guaranteed for ten years. I have had mine more than ten years now without any harm coming to it. No chips no cracks no pitted surface the glass still crystal clear. This bowl is not a casserole dish just a simple round glass bowl , no lid Pyrex is made of borosilicate toughened heat resistant glass. Pyrex kitchen ware has been made by Corning Inc since 1915, before that this firm developed toughened glass for light bulbs in 1879 Pyrex is a ... more

A little about pyrex taken from wikipedia Pyrex is a brand name for glassware, introduced by Corning Incorporated in 1915. Originally, Pyrex was made from borosilicate glass. In the 1940s the composition was changed for some products to tempered soda-lime glass, which is the most common form of glass used in glass bakeware in the US and has higher mechanical strength so is less vulnerable to breakage when dropped (the leading cause of breakage in glass bakeware) In 1998, Corning divested its consumer products division which subsequently adopted the name World Kitchen. I have a lot of things in the Pyrex range in my house. I remember years ago when I first bought them and I am in my eighty’s now and I am still using them and they are not chipped or cracked at all. Apart from my jug, one of the things I use a lot is my large bowl. I paid £3.25 for this and I also have them in other sizes. This is the largest and I use this for all sorts of things. I make my batter for my Yorkshire Puddings and I also make cakes by mixing the ingredients in this bowl because it is large enough for me to get two hands inside. It is clear glass and it is heat resistant and I can ... more
