I have a few items of Pyrex but over the years instead of growing, my collection is shrinking as I replace the bulky glass cookware with products that will take up less space. One item I'd never get rid of though is my 4.5 litre Oval Casserole Dish which I've had since my daughter was born in 1996. I've used it so many times I really cannot believe it's still in one piece, the edges are looking a bit brown and grimy now but that's to be expected and anyway these marks give Pyrex character rather than ageing it. The glass is very thick and this means the dish isn't as fragile as you'd think, it ... more

Pyrex Oval Casserole Dish There is something that I really like about a nice bit of Pyrex and to be fair the majority of my cooking items in the kitchen are made up from Pyrex. There are so many good things about the collection of dishes, jugs, and bowls that I have in Pyrex and this is probably why I continue to buy it. However that said the majority of the Pyrex that I own is a hand me down from either my mum or my mother in law. This Pyrex Casserole Dish is just that although I am not sure who actually gave me this item but I am pretty sure I didn't buy it myself. The oval casserole dish is ... more

I am reviewing lots of my kitchen cupboard items at the minute and if you've read my other reviews you will be able to tell that my cupbaords are pretty full of pyrex dishes! This casserole dish also joins them in that cupboard and it's great. It is quite a new addition actually, I realised that I needed a casserole dish to add to my collection as I was often trying to make casserole type items in my pyrex bowls or trays and had to keep making make-shift lids with tin foil so decided it was time to buy one instead. This cost me £8.00 and I use it frequently so think it is great value for money ... more

Being quite a fan of cooking, I have most types of dishes in my kitchen and my latest addition was a set of Pyrex oval dishes. I don't always get time during the week but usually at the weekend I like to make myself a nice casserole or traditional dinner. Pyrex dishes are not always the cheapest but one thing I have learned is that you know they are of good quality and they literally do every shape or size. Since I haven't a family yet I do tend to use the 0.5L one most but when I cater for friends or guests then I do use my 1.7L dish more. APPEARANCE These dishes are quite simply thick glass ... more

I own quite a number of Pyrex dishes, and this isn't without reason. I find the Pyrex dishes and bowls range so very useful, and I have a wide variety of their products for use in the kitchen. One of the more regularly used Pyrex product is their Oval Casserole Dish. Every couple of weeks we will have a sausage casserole, with plenty of vegetables, and lovely homemade gravy. Using a casserole dish is essential for making this dish, and ours is just the right size to feed four of us. My cupboards are packed with Pyrex bowls and dishes, and I wouldn't be without them. I picked up the Pyrex Oval ... more

I like Pyrex dishes and I have used them for many years and they have been around for such a long time, I think. I have the jug and the roaster and the plate and the set of bowls and I also have the casserole dish aswell. They are all good and they get to be used very often because I like to a lot of cooking and baking and making my own food, especially the things I grow myself on my allotment. I get a lot of pleasure from growing my own things and then using them to make tasty meals. The dish I have is a good size and it measures 230cm wide x 390cm in length and it is x150cm high. It is nice ... more

Another day, another Pyrex dish to review, sorry!! Just to make the review a bit more interesting I will add a bit of history about Pyrex that I have found on the internet. Pyrex is a brand name for glassware, introduced by Corning Incorporated in 1915. A Corning executive gave the following account of the etymology of the Pyrex brand name: "The word PYREX is probably a purely arbitrary word which was devised in 1915 as a trade-mark for products manufactured and sold by Corning Glass Works. While some people have thought that it was made up from the Greek pyr and the Latin rex we have always ... more

When I moved into my new home a few years ago I bought a large amount of kitchenware and chose Pyrex as a brand for many of my items. Pyrex has been making glassware since the 1940's and is a household brand name when it comes to glassware. These products are extremely reliable and this is backed up by their 10 year manufacturer's guarantee. *Price and availability* There are two sizes; the 0.5 L and the 1.7 L. The one I purchased was £8.99 and was 0.5L. I bought mine from my local supermarket but they are widely available on the internet. *Description* The best thing I like casserole pot is ... more

Pyrex is a range of cookware and ovenware that we havea lot of in our house and we have been using it for all the time we have been married. One of the dishes in the range we have and use a lot is the Oval Casserole Dish. This dish is made from thickened glass and is shock proof, stain proof, and heat resistant. My other half uses it for cooking a wide range of food stuffs, not only casseroles but also things like pasta bakes (which both me and the little lad love at tea time) and other pasta and vegetable based dishes. It is 1.7l in size so will hold a lot and the lid it comes with is a ... more

My home is not without its fair share of dishes from Pyrex, many of which I still have from when I was first married. Whilst my large glass bowl and measuring jug are perhaps the dishes I used most frequently, I do also make good use of my oval shaped casserole dish. I think that the larger casserole dish that I have probably would cost about £12 now and it’s widely available in most supermarket’s. This price is excellent value for money as these dishes are all so hard wearing and incredibly durable and basically last forever. My casserole dish has been used umpteen times but it’s still in ... more
