Quality Flooring

Advantages: Very quick and easy to lay
Disadvantages: Experience required for a top job!

I recently laid quick step uniclic flooring in a relatives bedroom. This is the 12th laminate floor I have laid, 6 were glued boards and 6 have been click style boards, so I'm definitely qualified to speak on the subject! Background I've listed a con as 'experience required’; this may be slightly unfair as I would say it's true of all laminate floors, especially the cheaper ones. They will only look really good if they have been fitted really well. ...
...The floor was quite quick to fit. I did a room approx 12ft x 12ft in about 4 hours. Beginners will take longer! The floor, if skirtings are not removed, will have to be finished by beading round the edges to cover the expansion gap. If skirtings are removed you simply re-fit them over the top of the floor. Overall The floor is on the expensive side but you do get a quality looking floor which is much easier to fit, when compared with the cheaper ...

Wood you?

Advantages: Looks stunning and modern.
Disadvantages: I could write to much so you may as well read on...

There are a number of advantages and disadvantages with this but as with all laminated flooring. When i decorated my first house with my partner we chose this as choice of flooring on the ground floor and i remember distintively we swore never to get it again. But i can now tell you a few years on, last week we were looking at buying flooring for our new house and we were very close to buying it again. Advantages are that it is stunning, especially ...
...There are only three of its type available in Oak, Beech and Pine and gives the effect of a real wood floor (as apposed to the panelled effect like a school hall/gym floor/disco floor) It has the immatation scratches of the effect that the planks have been individually sawn, and the grain and knots are very unique and different on every plank. With this particular range you are looking at expensive flooring from around £18.99 - £28 SqM whereas for ...

Flooring Addiction!!!

Advantages: Hard wearing, beautiful finish
Disadvantages: More expensive

Never a fan of laminate floor, I recently gave in to my husbands request that we have it in the lounge and hallway. we already have another brand in the consevatory and I hated it. However I cmpromised and agreed to have it in the lounge and hallway.... The floor itself comes in all shades and also styles.. in that you can have the 'grooves' to give the feel of natural floor boards, both horizontal and vertical grooves too, as well as 'stone' look ...
...the lounge and once fitted with a good under lay I found it very suprising. One of my main concerns was the hollow 'click clacky' noise you get from other laminate (such as in my conservatory), however with a good underlay this prvides a solid base, and the empty click clacky noise has gone. Cleaning it is a dream, and as a cat owner i find that I hoover less that usual....which can only be a good thing. I was also concerned with the coldness, but ...

Over-rated Laminated

Advantages: Looks good once clean. Great for match box car races.
Disadvantages: Visible dust. More breakages. Cold. Takes time to clean. Scratches.

After the birth of our first child I decided to become a childminder to enable me to stay at home to bring up our son. & also to give him other children to play with and to earn a bit of extra cash. It wasn’t long before I was complaining about the carpets looking shabby, and since they weren’t especially expensive when we brought them 8 years ago we decided to change them. Our neighbours had laminate floor covering in their lounge. They said it ...
...and was very easy to clean. We had a good look at their floor, which had been fitted by the previous (bodge job) owners, and it didn’t look great. However it was good enough for us to see what a well laid floor would look like. Neither of us are particularly good at DIY and we knew that if we attempted to lay the floor ourselves we too would be labelled Mr and Mrs Bodge Job. So we called a local joiner who dealt with ‘Quick Step Uniclic’, Here’s ...

Quick step Uniclic Cassic 800 laminate flooring

Advantages: good durable flooring
Disadvantages: cant really think of any

...sturdy floor so picked the Quick step from their classic 800 range in teak. Lots of choice of different colours they also do an underlay that helps with sound proofing. Its warm and comfortable to walk on Lots of people we knew had bought laminate flooring and raved about it.We got a flooring company to fit it as we did not feel to confident to lay it ourselves. What a difference it has made easy to clean.Just a quick sweep with a brush, then a ...
...can buy in packets.Any spillage is easily wiped up. Its been down just over four years and looks as good as the day it was laid and recently, last month we also had the sittingroom done as well. It is worth paying out for the more exensive type like this as it has good lasting quality and other people we know who have spent a lot less do not seem to be as lucky with their floor as we have. It certainly stands up to the wear and tear so it makes ...

BEAUTY YES- QUALITY NO

Advantages: Looks very nice
Disadvantages: Ripples at seams, chips where chars set.

...but the installer recommended the Quick Step. He told her it was better flooring. When he finished it was absolutly beautiful. It looked much more natural than the Pergo" my brother put in his place. She realy like the ease of care and she keeps her home spotless. After about 10-11 months it started to chip under her chair at the kitchen table. Then it stated to ripple at the seams. So we called the installer and he looked at it. He said he had ...
...his supplier look at it. It was tough to get him out there but he finaly came. First he said that she must have gotten the floor wet. Next he said that the house was improperly built and that the floor flexed to much. then he said that it was improperly installed. Then he said that her cat had caused it. Ok , She used the recommended cleaner, she NEVER wet mopped the floor. as for floor flex, no it's no more than any other floor, Oh yeah this ...

QUICKSTEP

Advantages: Durable, looks very nice, cleans easy
Disadvantages: IS NOT SELF CLEANING!!!

THE QUICKSTEP 950 WE HAD FITTED 5 MONTHS AGO, IT LOOKS VERY NICE AND LIKE REAL WOOD FLOORING, ALSO IT CLEANS WELL AND LOOKS AND FEELS WARM. WE HAD IT FITTED WHEN WE MOVED INTO OUR NEW HOME, WE HAD LAMINATE FLOORING IN OUR PREVIOUS HOUSE,THIS IS MUCH BETTER QUALITY AND LOOKS MUCH NICER. I RECOMMEND THE ANTIQUE OAK AS IT DOES NOT SHOW UP EVERYDAY DUST ETC AT ALL! THERE IS A VERY NICE FINISH ON IT AND CLEANS UP VERY WELL. I THINK FOR ANYONE WHO HAS ...
