Advantages Advantages Taste lovely & Decent portion..

Disadvantages Disadvantages Appear slightly discoloured after cooking..

Quorn Peppered Steaks I have eaten Quorn products for years now as I really like them on the whole, finding they offer a tasty meat-free option to my evening meal, with the Quorn mince offering a meat-free solution to some of my favourite meals such as Spaghetti Bolognaise and Chilli Con Carne. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, Quorn is a man-made meat substitute and is completely suitable for vegetarians. One of the meat-free products that I had tried a few years back was the pack of 2 “Quorn Peppered Steaks” and I remembered being rather unimpressed, so failed to repurchase this ... more

2 Stars Meatfree never tasted so, well ... bland? Review with images 14/04/2010

Advantages Advantages was on offer, no meat so good for vegetarians

Disadvantages Disadvantages boring, bland, horrid non-texture, dry

I eat poultry and fish but when it comes to red meats, I rather not bother. I also often favour vegetarian options and normally cook from scratch. Putting together one of my last grocery deliveries I noticed that Tesco were running special offers on Quorn products. I ordered a few items (after all, £1.10 or so is still better than more than twice that) to keep for emergencies or for when my vegetarian friends come so I have something just in case. Quorn is the brand name for a range of vegetarian food products made from mycoprotein. Mycoprotein ( myco- Greek for fungus) – is a protein from the ... more

Advantages Advantages Low fat, great taste, good price

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit too peppery for me

Since we have started with this healthy eating regime I have found that I do spend a fair amount of time in the kitchen cooking meals form scratch. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy cooking and have enjoyed making sure that we have been eating healthily but just occasionally I do feel a bit idle – don’t we all? It was for times like this that I had bought a few of the Quorn ready prepared things such as steaks, escalopes, burgers etc. Quorn and a lot of its derivatives are ‘free’ food on our diet so we can have them anytime. One of the things that I bought is the Quorn Peppered Steaks which we ... more

Advantages Advantages Wonderful soft melt in the mouth texture

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little bland

As you may know from some of my other reviews, I am not a huge fan of red meat or any other meat a part from chicken, turkey and perhaps sausages. However, I am partial to the Quorn products and after having sampled (and reviewed) the lamb style grills and found them gorgeous, I picked up 'Quron 2 peppered steaks' for £1.89 in Asda, down the fresh food aisle (though they can be frozen and cooked from frozen). Quorn in a brand marketing especially for vegetarians because the products contain mycroprotein as opposed to meat, making the products very nutritional, low fat and low calories. Each ... more

I bought some Quorn peppered steaks from Tesco they are on offer £2.32 a pack or 3 packs for £5. Sainsbury’s has the same price and offer. Each pack has 2 steaks in it. Quorn is suitable for vegetarians made from mycoprotein (fungi) it is low in fat, high in protein. Each steak weighs 98g and has 107 kcal. They are a decent size for a meal. They are presented on a plastic tray in a card sleeve. These steaks are shaped a bit like a teardrop and are coated in a green and red pepper and cracked black peppercorns. They look a brown colour. Allergy suffers need to be aware that they contain Barley ... more
