POCKET MONEY REVOLVING
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
deviloxo
Advantages: Unique bank card, interest, freebies, life lesson!!!
Disadvantages: Free texts only available on Orange.
...found the perfect one from Royal Bank of scotland.
The REVOLVE account is specifically for 11- 18 year olds.
It took a while to finally register, but only because they are very detailed about identity details needed to join, which to me is a very good thing.
The benefits are really good.
He gets 3.5% interest on money paid into his account , also there are discounts available such as cinema tickets, rail tickets and mobile phones.
If they ...

The One Account
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
gazereth
Advantages: Paying off your mortgage quickly and saving you thousands of pounds
Disadvantages: You need a lot of common sense and future vision to benefit from this account
...it up at my local Royal Bank of Scotland.
As for the common sense approach to this account. You can take payment breaks when you like, take more money out on your house and buy a car, holiday or home improvements, as long as you pay the interest the One Account are happy. But I can not emphasise enough that if you don't pay the debt, then you will stay in debt, it is the same no matter if it is a credit card bill or £100,000 on your house….the ...

Student Royalties Account
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
ali007
Advantages: Good interest free overdraft, nice piece of plastic, lots of branches
Disadvantages: Online banking a chore to setup, customer service should be better
...to any of my enquires.
The Royal Bank of Scotland's student Royalties account was recommended to me by a friend, however I wasn't too keen as a year earlier I had tried to open a current account with them and was dismayed with the way I was treated by staff, and abruptly left the branch. This time I was more determined to open an account due to their excellent interest free overdraft - up to £2000.
The account comes with the all important switch ...

Very Poor Service
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
karenarmstrong
Advantages: Fine if you have plenty of cash
Disadvantages: Very high charges, staff that will say anything to get you off the telephone
...was recently treated by the Royal Bank of Scotland recently. I have also had a similiar problem in the past on two seperate occasions so it must be fairly common. My boyfried has had an account with the bank for the past 9 years from schooldays to post university. He has also had a hefty authorised overdraft mainly accrued from his student days. Two weeks ago he went to withdraw cash from the dispenser only to discover that his overdraft had been ...

One account - definitely the way forward
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
lj210701
Advantages: see exactly how much your mortgage is costing, offset savings against mortgage
Disadvantages: I haven't got a local branch!!!
I have had my RBOS One Account now since April and I think it is great. I have lived in my house now for five years and changed my mortgage 3 times, I am one of these people that doesn't like to waste money and if I think that I can get a better deal elsewhere I will do it, there is no room for loyalty when it comes to mortgages you don't get any rewards nowadays for being loyal. I had been loyal to Natwest with my current account for about 20 years ...

Business Banking Direct
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
vineet
Advantages: Cost effective
Disadvantages: Depends heavily on postal service
A very cost effective solution for maintaining business accounts. A nominal transaction charge of £ 0.20 per transaction, with complete access to the account online and by telephone without any extra charge. One gets a card that can be used to withdraw cash from any cash machine nationwide, and cheques have to be sent by post in prepaid envelopes supplied free of cost by RBS. However, postal delays can upset schedules especially if timing is critical. ...

Students- don't be tempted by the overdraft
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
Gracelet
Advantages: overdraft facility
Disadvantages: overdraft facility!! lack of customer service
I have just spent over an hour trying to get someone to deal with my RBS Student account. I was attracted to this account, like many others, because of the large interest free overdraft. Consequently, I maxed out the overdraft, stuck the money in another account to earn interest and thought all was fine and dandy.
Suddenly, I get a letter from them explaining that I hadn't had any payments into my account in a while and to call them. Fair enough.
1st ...

RBOS One Account
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
BrunetteBombshell
Advantages: Offsetting savings against your mortgage
Disadvantages: truly awful website for online banking
I've had a RBOS One Account for around a year now, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It has really changed the way I think about the mortgage and how much it costs over the time of the loan.
The One Account allows you to keep all of your savings in one account (no!) and that money gets offset from your debt. I don't have much in the way of savings but it is amazing how a little extra in there soon mounts up, and it gives a real incentive to save. ...

Student Royalties Account
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
PaulCatterall
Advantages: Efficient service, no charges on cash machine use, good interest rates, savings rate bonuses, some discounts available (20% off in HMV!!)
Disadvantages: Few branches on University campuses, even fewer of their own cashpoints.
...INTO debt, I chose the Royal Bank of Scotland. They have provided me with a consistently efficient service, good interest rates on credit balances, and an interest free overdraft which is totally hassle free.
The bank is often overlooked by many people these days, especially us youngsters. I would definitely suggest investigation if you are looking for a student account, as they will not muck you about, and, oddly enough, you still get the personal ...

Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
bim
Advantages: OK Policies
Disadvantages: BAD BAD BAD services!! Not a clue at all!!!!
I have been a customer of the RBS since I was 17, and had a route seventeen account. A year or so later, they informed me that I could now change my account to a student royalties account as I was a sixth form student. I did so, and they promised to send off the Student Royalties pack with information on how to use all the fantastic offers I could now enjoy. I did not recieve this, and I also did not recieve my paying in book, or cheque book, or cheque ...

Route 15 account
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
laurypascu
Advantages: good interest rates for young people
Disadvantages: No chip and pin
I had been with Royal Bank of Scotland ever since i was born when my parents set up my first account. I didn't really use the bank very much until i was fourteen and I got my first paper round and so i relied on it to ge my wages out. I have to say that the money was put into my account almost straight away and the interest rates were good because i was a young person and it is an incentive to get you to save your money. Every three months there was ...

RBS = Rude and Poor
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland Accounts by
Aishasalem
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Rubbish service
RBS phoned today and without prior warning demanded I pay half my overdraft immediately! I tried to negotiate paying in a day or two, but they insisted on paying in over the same phone call! They said otherwise they will send a letter demanding FULL payment of the overdraft in 28 days! I just graduated a few weeks ago, and went into a branch to discuss my account with one of their "professionals". He assured me I can pay it over 12 months, but spent ...
