Just brillliant
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by
jmagill
Advantages: Great Plot,Good characters
Disadvantages: A little long for some people
I bought Rainbow Six because I had played the computer game of the same name (which is brilliant by the way) and i liked the sound of the plot. It is a long book (800+ pages) but believe me it is worth it. The book keeps you hooked because there are about three different storylines going on throughout the book which only come together at the end. The basic proviso behind the game is that a new multinational taskforce recruited from the cream of the ...

Disappointed!
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by
yagasat
Advantages: Good basis of a storyline
Disadvantages: Very Long (897 pages)
Rainbow Six based around a multi-national Special Forces team based in England, and is run by, surprise surprise, an American. Anti-American tendancies aside, the book mainly follows John Clark, the Head of Rainbow Six but branches of to follow each incident, before returning again to the main storyline.
After watching the films ‘Clear& Present Danger’ and ‘Patriot Games’, I’d been waiting for this book by the same writer, Tom Clancy. Having said ...

No pot of gold at the end
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by
JohnHopkins
Advantages: Clancy's excellent technical writing
Disadvantages: Too far fetched.
...finally getting around to reading Rainbow Six. However, I must say it was a bit of a disappointment.
The plot for me was just too far fetched. The two main characters, Domingo (Ding) Chavez and John Clarke are beginning to show there age, and it all seemed a little bit like Clancy was desperately trying to wring out another book 'starring' these two. The bite and excitement of Clear and Present Danger, where these two were really introduced, was ...

Mr Clark and Chavez come of age.
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by
elminster
Advantages: Great read
Disadvantages: Quite a long book, take it on holiday or something
With Jack Ryan now safely ensconsed as the president John Clark and his son in law/assistant are unemployed so they are given new work to do in leading the crack worldwide anti terrorist/hostage rescue squad. All seems to be going along fine until someone decides the world is too quiet and starts to reopen old terrorist cells in an effort to cover his main ambitions which is to destroy the world with a doomsday device. Through many different scenes ...

Disadvantages: softback

How great is this book?
It takes a while to get going but Mr. Clancy certainly has an imagination alright.
In my opinion this book has been severely under-rated, it has only had justice by having the production of the Action- Strategy game completed.
This book is one that i may forget in future years, BUT, i will come back to all 600+ pages to re-read and enjoy it all again...
John Clark and his squad who kick some serious ...

Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by

Advantages: pretty much loved the whole book
Disadvantages: it ended
The Rainbox Special forces unit has members from elite units all over the world (England,Israel,Germany,America etc), that is designed to remain in the background and called into action when the situation calls for them. Their Missions are mostly run of the mill stuff such as Hostage rescues however as the book progresses they find themselves getting into more and more dangerous situations even upto the point where their unit is brutally ambushed. ...

Clancy at his best
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by

Advantages: Fast Paced, Attention Grabbing, great subplot
Disadvantages: Finding time for work
Rainbow Six,
Imagine visiting your all-time favourite theme park, just as your tucking into that soft succulent jam donut with extra chocolate sprinkles that you’re just purchased from the acne clad teenager on the food stand, when you notice something isn’t quite right.
Two minutes later you find yourself caught up in the middle of a major terrorist incident, who you gonna call…… Rainbow Six (No quite as catchy as ghost busters)
Rainbow ...

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by
stubond2001
Advantages: Easy to read and constantly moving, a very thrilling piece of work.
Disadvantages: For some it might be a bit long, but for others it is just perfect.
Sit back, relax and pick up that heafty book from the coffee table. open the front cover and let your eyes drift to the first few words...but first make sure you have a lot of time to spare because you won't this book down very easily.
Imagine yourself at the last Sydney Olympics...the cool refreshing water sprays in the corridors to ward of the heat. Then you find out that those same sprays contain a deadly virus that will wipe out most of the ...

Guns and intrigue
Review of Rainbow Six - Tom Clancy by
Totally_mad_4000
Advantages: Likeable main characters. Lots of action.
Disadvantages: Plot a bit far fetched in parts
...International special forces unit called Rainbow headed up by John Clark. There are lots of terrorsit attacks on the West while John is in charge which disturb him and he wonders about the timing of these attacks. The main characters are very likeable and he paints a good picture of the men behind the black clad special forces uniforms. There is loads of action and it stays in your hand for hours. The plot is well designed but it is I have to admit ...
