    Advantages Advantages Talented driver but...

Disadvantages Disadvantages ...been a bit lucky

Anyone who tuned into the Brazilian GP on Sunday evening and known anything about F1 would have been enthralled by the big battle with Michael and Ralf Schumacher at the end of the race. We all know Michael's ability - no one can stop raving about him -, but his brother has risen in peoples estimations rapidly, some putting him over his equally impressive - if, erattic - team mate Montoya. But it so nearly didn't happen a few years for the Schu Jnr... As a youngster, Ralf was always going to have a path into racing. A chubby child to say the least, he took up karting and while he was not the ... more

league in pitching," La Russa said. "That's going to be an asset for them the next four games we play." Part of San Diego's pitching depth is David Wells, the intense and playoff-tested left-hander acquired from the Boston Red Sox at the Aug. 31 trade deadline. Wells, 43, has suffered from severe pain in his right knee all season and made only 13 starts as a result, but he has performed capably in five starts since coming over from Boston and is 10-3 lifetime in the playoffs. "He's got a ton of postseason experience," Cardinals catcher Gary Bennett said. "He's not going to crack. He's a big ... more

Advantages Advantages Pretty fast, In an improving team.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as good as Montoya or his brother.

There are two reasons why Ralf Schumacher will not win the Formula One Driver’s Title in 2002. The reasons are Michael Schumacher and Juan-Pablo Montoya. Put quite simply, I do not believe Ralf Schumacher is fast, tough or clever enough to defeat them. The indications throughout Ralf’s debut season in 1997 for Jordan Mugen-Honda were that he was not capable of attaining the same astonishing performance levels as his brother. Certainly he lacked his brother’s ability to adapt to Formula One driving extremely quickly: while Michael won his first Grand Prix within 17 races ... more

Advantages Advantages Potential to win the world championship

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Car reliability

To anyone who knows anything about formula 1, there is more to Ralf Schumacher than just a famous brother. I think he is just as good a driver as Micheal, he just never has had the car to prove it. If they both drove for the same team then it would be a close run thing. When they used to go karting as kids Ralf would win as often as Micheal and was an equal match. Ralf's poor preformance at the Silverstone race just gone had something to do with his tyres. The Michelin tyres are warm weather tyres and don't work so well in the cold British weather. In the end he was one of only four ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good driver

Disadvantages Disadvantages used to be irrational

Looks like all of the promises of 5 years ago heve rung true. Both schumachers have proved themselves worthy winners of grand prix, with Ralf joining in the fun. With the age gap of 7 years, it assures us that we will probably have a driving influence in Formula one from this successful family for at least another 10 years. With Michael around, I dont think Ralf could become world Champion. His car is just not consistant enough yet. The Ferrari is just too quick and the Williams, too unreliable. Their long succession of success stretches back to Kart racing and sports car duals. Ralf has had a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great driver

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unproven until recently

Poor old Ralf has got to be the unluckiest Schumacher on the planet. Following any family member into a business is always a risky one but when your brother is a triple world champion at the sport you compete in, it makes everything 10 times worse. Forever, Ralf will be compared to his older, and so far, much more successful brother Michael. Michael seems to be one of the all time greats. Ralf has so far struggled in his career to string a decent set of results together. That is until 3 weeks ago in San Marino when Ralf became a man and climbed from the shadows of Michael and finally mounted ... more

Advantages Advantages gets a free pass due to his rockin F1 name

Disadvantages Disadvantages average-at-best driver of great cars

I was going to title this "He makes me Ralf" but decided that was both - a tad too gross, even for me, and - truly don't know whether "ralph" is solely an American term for up-chucking, tossing one's cookies, bowing to the porcelain god, etc, etc and didn't want to confuse everyone. Was alternatively considering this title: "News Flash: American Dude Watches F1" but that put even me to sleep...oops, there I go again. Can't get confused...must stay on message (Just an aside: see how much I've been paying attention to my fearless Commander in Chief ? Good ol' GW Bush now has me saying things ... more

Advantages Advantages Real potential for the future, quality driver

Disadvantages Disadvantages Held back in the light of his brother, hasn't got a reliable engine

People have always been critical of Ralf Schumacher, ever since he first stepped into the limelight that is Formula 1 a few years ago. Having a brother as famous and as talented as Michael, one of the world's best loved and well-known drivers, was always going to make it difficult for Ralf to prove his own worthiness in the game. He was inevitably to be compared, perhaps unfairly considering his comparative lack of experience, to his brother, and has always been considered second to Michael despite his clear capability to outsmart older and more experienced drivers than himself. In fact ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant season last year. Almost unbelieveable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs a good car that can rival the top two teams

Ralf Schumacher has done exceptionally well this season and has built upon last season's successes. He is a very talented driver, and will soon become a world Champion - I am sure. He drives for Williams and ahs had to drive alongside amateur team mate Jenson button for the last year. I believe that this has helped him to gain immense experience and has made him a better driver. At Jordan he never seemed to be consistent, but did show signs of great potential. At Williams he finished 5th behind the 2 Maclarens and Ferraris - leading the pack of all the rest. I think that he's helped Jenson ... more

The youngest of the schumacher brothers, ralf, has had a good first couple of seasons in f1. he has picked up a fair few points so far this season, along with williams team mate jenson button.Maybe both he and button can help restore williams to the promanant racing force they once were, and i beleive that ralf has the ability to participate in doing this. However,we will be dissappointed that most of the limelight has falen on his team mate this season rather than him,but he is used to that, being brother of micheal schumacher!!!! maybe ralf can go on and be as good as,or even emulate, his brother ... more
