    Advantages Advantages Is Jade Goody an advantage? ok..raising an awareness maybe?

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Seeing more of Jade and it can affect the kids in the future.

    Last month, we heard about the ‘tragic’ death of Jade Goody. Jade Goody was an unknown person who became very famous for her strange and irresponsible actions during her short lived life and even after her death! She is so famous that a film is proposed to be made about her . . . what’s more . . . reviews are being written about this person and my review is one of them! I never thought that I would be going to write about her, not in a million years!     Advantages Advantages If enough people want a film made then it does make sense to make it

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Jade's life does not warrant a film being made about it IMHO

    Since Ciao introduced its ‘Current Issue’ competition there hasn’t been a topic which has caught my attention enough to make me write a review. Of course I did participate in the Product of the Week competition when it was about a Cadbury ‘Cumble’ Crunch bar, but that’s just another story completely… It’s funny really that the first topic to grab my attention is the discussion of whether Jade Goody’s life warrants a film being made about it.     Goody had become property of the media "to be manipulated and exploited till the day she died"…but even once she is dead, they are still doing it. (Sir Michael Parkinson) Just when I thought the media and press couldn’t get any more absurd, it’s announced that a film is (probably) to be made of the life of Jade Goody. Yes, Jade Goody! I can’t be the only one who thinks this is the most ridiculous prospect for any production company.     I think it is inevitable and totally logical that Jade Goody’s life is made into a film. Does that thought make me happy? No, it doesn’t. Is the life of Jade Goody a phenomenon that is film-worthy? It most certainly is. Bear in mind that the original question posed here is about the making of a film about a series of events that is already complete, and is not inviting us to make social comment on reality TV and the nature of celebrity today (although these issues will certainly have to be addressed).     Advantages Advantages Giving people more of the celebrity froth which they crave

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The way we celebrate mediocrity is shameful.

    FIRSTLY: For someone to die during the prime of their life is a tragedy. Hundreds of people suffer from terminal illness every year, affect countless loved ones who care for them and are bereaved afterwards. My sympathy would especially go out to all the children who have prematurely lost a parent, it must be a tremendous psychological torment one could not remotely imagine. Took a while chewing over what I felt was wrong with all the news coverage of Jade Goody in the last year.     It was just by luck that I clicked onto the Current Issue, as I never normally write in it. Usually the topics of concern revolve around the war and politics, with the occasional personal account of recent years and events. However as soon as the page loaded up, two little words leapt out at me. 'Jade Goody' was all I could focus on. They were so bold, so loud, yet held a softness about them. I gave the issue a read and pondered over whether to contribute or not.     Boy oh boy if ever there was a fuss about nothing then Jade Goody is that nothing. Lurching from a pathetic TV reality show into even more media hype. If ever there were a time when we should reflect on our ever apparently increasing passion with celebrity status this is it. I have every sympathy with her family’s loss, and I wouldn’t for a second have wished this upon her, but did we really need to have it stuffed in our faces on a daily basis.     Should Jade Goody’s life be turned to film? I’m sure we all know who Jade Goody is by now, her painful and tragic cancer has been throughout the news and tabloids for the past few months, painfully documenting the tragic loss of such a young girl step by step capturing every cruel moment of suffering.     There seems to be a lot of opposition around to the idea of Jade Goody’s life being made into a film. It seems that many in the media, most of my work colleagues and lots of people I’ve heard from are against the idea. It does appear, however, that the amount of negativity on the subject varies depending on the individual’s opinions of Jade Good y herself. Whilst I would agree that not liking her would be a good reason for not wanting to go and see any film made of her life, I can’t agree that it’s a good reason for not wanting such a film to be made.     Advantages Advantages I don't feel a film brings much advantage to a 'story' that has been so heavily covered.

    Introduction for those who need it Jady Goody was a recent celebrity who found fame on a reality show called Big Brother in 2002. I'd say a lot of people didn't really like her at first, as in the UK there is no shortage of pointless celebrities. She was seen as a joke because of her ignorance and her bad English. She appeared in a Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, at this point a lot of people didn't really see her as a worthy celebrity still, she appeared to ruin her 'career' on this show as she came across quite racist.
