Advantages Advantages You don't miss any important mail

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is a day later than it would have been

Well, fancy that! There’s a category about redirecting your mail! As you know I am having first hand experience of changing my address at the moment so who would be better qualified than me to tell you about the service? I have moved house a couple of times before, both many years ago, and had the mail redirected with a minimum of fuss and little in the way of checks on identity so I was quite unprepared for the efficiency of the new system, but quite impressed nonetheless. We heard on Tuesday 2nd July that we could definitely move on Tuesday 9th July and, since it says on the form from the ... more

Right then, everything has been done. As the song goes:”My bags are packed, I’m ready to go…”Gas and electricity meters have been read, every room checked and cupboards too. Sorted out your new doctor and dentist. New school organised. New address left with the neighbours…Cat settled in the car with the kids. You’ve forgotten nothing! Mail? You know…the post..? Have you remembered to redirect it to your new address? Whoops… Mail redirection is probably the last thing you will think about when moving home. But, imagine if you win the Premium Bonds ... more

Advantages Advantages Your not supposed to miss any mail...

    Disadvantages Disadvantages ...but you do

The date of our house move came as a bit of a surprise, one day it was off, the next it was on, until at last we found out we were moving in 3 days time! Needless to say everything was up in the air including any thought as to redirecting our mail. We had one day basically to sort out the redirection service, and to be fair to Royal Mail they did the best they could, and the service was up and running within 4 or 5 days. We were even advised by the counter staff where we set up the redirection service that if we contact the redirection service helpline they may be able to put a stop on all of ... more

Having just moved house I thought I would comment on this service. I have used it three times now in the past two years. I just cannot stay put can I. Well, hopefully not moving again now for a while. It is too stressful. Royal Mail offers a re-direction service and this means the mail you receive at your old address will automatically get sent to your new address providing the service has started. There are some clauses in that they are not able to re-direct business mail or recorded/special delivery packets. This is for security purposes and is Royal Mails policy. As with all services they ... more

This review is on the Royal Mail Redirection Service that I have just recently made use of, having moved from a shared house back in with my parents. What is it? OK, stating the obvious first off it is a service from the Royal Mail that allows you to have all of your mail redirected from one address to another should you move. This not only gives you time to update your various people and/ or places with your new details, but also ensures that you don't miss that important package that was sent to you from your great aunty. Also, it means that you don't have to keep on annoying the people who ... more

Advantages Advantages You may get mail you missed

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Frequent failures

The best thing about redirection is that they give me free stamps. Sadly, they do this because they keep losing my mail. I do seem to live in a postal black spot. Recently, I received a pack of very old letters, with a request I return them to the post office when I had read them as they were needed in a prosecution case. Someone it seemed had been stealing and stashing mail. Not mine in particular, I hasten to add, and as mine was all junk mail, so I can only assume someone hadn't felt much like delivering it. I frequently have postmen knocking on door to tell me I don't have a letterbox. As ... more

Advantages Advantages They usually do deliver

Disadvantages Disadvantages sometimes they don't deliver

I'm like many of us who depend on Royal Mail delivery service and have since my teenage years. I always believed they were a fair company and with Royal in the title; believed it was the case. My bad experience of using RM Special delivery service started on 8th September 2006. A simple task was asked of RM to deliver a Special Delivery item from Oxford to Glasgow, next day delivery, before 1pm. I paid for 500.00 GBP insurance. The item was a 3G mobile phone with accessories, all in all it was worth just under 400.00 GBP. Yep.... The item was not delivered; nor ever was. Cutting a long story ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great service

Disadvantages Disadvantages In some circumstances people might find these charges too expensive

Moving house can be difficult in itself never mind relieing on new neighbours to honestly pass on all your mail to you. Fittingly, this is why for considerably reasonable charges the Postal Office, offer a fantastic service to have all your mail (in your own name) redirected to your new address. To set up it is told that it can take anything upto seven working days however, it is often done before. The charges are not bad if thought about £6.30 if only for one month, £13.65 for three months - the charges obviously go up for the longer the duration of time you want your mail redirected, but ... more
