...night, a friend had brought Remington 2x ceramic straightners round-I used these and could not tell the difference between GHD'S. Ok, these cost around £49.99 and you can get them from anywhere-Argos, Index etc. They heat up in around 10 seconds-it's only a few seconds more than GHD's anyway! When starightening hair, I have fairly thick hair and I find I need to run down my hair 1-2 times for it to be poker staright (this is when I have sectioned it), these heat upto an incredible heat (can't find the booklet but will find out for you!) so you do need to be careful when starting at the roots.
The irons have heat resistant parts in which you can safely hold ...

...in this review, are the Remington S1002 slim ceramic Teflon coated model. I originally bought these because they were only £35, assuming that they would just about do the job, as I really could not justify paying £100 for GHD straighteners. I thought that GHDs were just a craze, I must admit, it is a craze that has lasted, but I feel they have an unjustified high status.

...eyes keep falling upon the Remington Ceramic Straighteners. They look really slender, easy to handle, on/off switch on the side, plug comes with, they are plain black thongs with pastel yellow ceramic irons. To top it off, Remington is a good, well known brand. The price was, well I thought the price was really reasonable - £24.99! Remington Power Ceramic Straighteners - I have had a few straighteners in my time so I know what I am talking about when I say these are by far the best. I have tried GHDs and they are good, but if you read this review you will find out why I chose these over them!

...am referring to is the Remington S1002. This is a sleek, grey model with 9x3cm ceramic, Teflon-coated plates. There is a wheel on the side to allow you adjust the heat for different thicknesses of hair, a flip-down stand to allow you to rest the straighteners safely and an on-off switch on the top with an indicator light. Advantages: Good price Disadvantages: No temperature settings
I was on the look out for hair straighteners which did their job and were cheap - I didn't want £100 GHD ones. I was reluctant to buy until I knew they worked, and after using these at a friend's I decided to get them.

I was a bit worried my hair might dry out and become frazzled, but in fact, my hair is smoother and softer than before - definitely not dryer.
They are quite easy to use, except you have to make sure you hold them quite a way away from the plate as it can get hot. It doesn't take long for them to straighten your hair - one or two runs down it and it is straight.
You can either run them parallel ...

I have tried a few different straighteners in my time and up to now 6.08.04 i have not found any better than these.
I have quite thick naturaly wavy hair. My hair tends to take on a very frizzy state if i leave it to dry on it lonesome.

Advantages: Excellent results for curly and wavy hair, heat up fast Disadvantages: They do get VERY hot
After trying a variety of straighteners, including the solid ceramic ones, i decided on Remmington, which happened to be on offer at £19.99 from Argos. Because they were only ceramic coated i thought they wouldnt be that good, but would return them later if they were really bad! You also get 4 sectioning clips free. So, good points they heat up really fast, and are simple to operate with just the on/off switch. Having experienced ceramic coated and ... ...better choice as they're more expensive and don't do a better job. The Remmington straighteners can straighten both coarse, curly hair to hair that is frizzy and wavy. They are the only striaghteners i have found that will flatten frizzy hair (like mine) to provide a sleek result. In my experience GHD's do not do this. If you want you're hair to be super-straight, guide the hair through the irons with a comb or brush, as this pulls it taught before ...

Advantages: work a treat on thick hair Disadvantages: none
I recently changed my hair straightener and bought a remington. Wow! They work like magic. I have very thick, coarse hair which is both curly and wavy, and a real pig to get straight without frizz.
