    Advantages Advantages fast, pokey

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive, break down a lot

I had my clio 1.8Rsi for three years, I purchased it from Webster Howlett, in Bury St Edmunds, (Now called Rawlinsons). Every thing was fine for the first few months then things started to go wrong. I had a core plug go, and every service cost me in excess of £400, that was every 3 months!!! Rust started to show through on the rear wheel arches and they agreed to sort it out for me under the anti corosion warranty. The car was with them for a week, when I got it back it was like it had spent that week on a building site, the seats were covered in sand, the front and rear foot wells were full ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliable, trustworthy and faithful

Disadvantages Disadvantages A 60,000 mile service is due and I know its going to be expensive

Just to give you a little background - I passed my driving test 10 years ago and due to certain circumstances i.e. finances etc. I never had my own car and as it may be hard to believe I have been without a car for the last 9½ years. That was until I met my boyfriend, Simon and we fell in love (yeah I know its mushy, but its also absolutely marvellous). Simon bought me my first car Christmas 2003, from ebay actually and I have to say, I am SO impressed with the bargain of a car I now own. Not to mention getting my head round the aspect of actually having a car - I cannot begin to express how ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast and great handiling hot hatch

Disadvantages Disadvantages reliability, cost of parts

I have owned a clio for the last 3 years (my current one being a 1993, 1.8 16V) and i have to say i am very impressed and have become an enthusiast (you will find me on a lot of the renault club forums) Since owning this clio i have had a few problems with it, mainly due to the last owner not looking after it very well and had to spend a fair amount of money to get it to my standard of car. (kept very clean and is well looked after) I had been after a valver for quite some time and when i finally had enough money to buy and insure one (insurance group 12) there was no way that i would choose ... more

Advantages Advantages Great little car... very fun to drive!

Disadvantages Disadvantages cheap interior (very plasticy)

I've had my '93 renault clio 1.8 rsi since last summer. It has proved to be an excellemt little car, and i'm very pleased with it! This model comes 5 doors, electric windows, central locking, sunroof, alloy wheels, radio cassette player, colour coded bumpers, front and rear wipers etc. I haven't needed to do much work to it yet, only the tracking needed doing, and a little bit of attention to the body work (it is a 12 year old car, so this is to be expected). Parts are relalatively cheap compared to other cars in its class, and can usually be picked up in scrap yards if moneys tight! The ... more

Advantages Advantages rather nippy, great handling

    Disadvantages Disadvantages niggly problems

I bought a 1.8 16V model about 3 months ago and must admit that it has had a few niggly problems with the cooling system. Then so would any small car with that size engine shoe-horned in! But I can forgive it! It handles well and goes even better (0-60 7.7secs, 130mph). As a young driver there is nothing else out there as fast for the same money and still insurable (only group 12). There are also plenty of tuning mods if you want more performance and parts are reasonably cheap. Remeber though buying a car like this is a comprimise and it is french so it is temperemental!! I would recommend it ... more
