Advantages Advantages Spacious interior, carlike drive, loaded with features.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Thirsty fuel consumption, little boot space, automatic headlights.

Choosing a car for a family of six is an expensive and somewhat limited task. Amongst the rather limited list of Multi Purpose vehicles several are instantly omitted as being five-seater and several more as simply being massively overpriced. Fortunately, thanks to the motability scheme we were able to narrow it down to two cars, the Renault Grand Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira. Let me explain why we plumped for the Renault. Being on the motability scheme we were given an option of colour (we chose jet black) but were limited to the 1.6 Dynamique Grand Scenic which, is one above the basic model ... more

Advantages Advantages Very practical, reasonable looks and comfortable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Those rear seats are only for tiny legged people

Overview We bought the Renault Grand Scenic recently 2nd hand, as a weekend car to take all the family out together. Apart from the initial horror of having grandparents, children and my husband all in the car together… the actual practicality of the matter has worked very well. With 5 seats as standard, and the extended boot space, this is a very practical car for my usual weekly activities – shopping, trips to the recycling centre, school runs etc., and the ISOFIX car seat fittings make it easy to take the kids car seats in and out. The boot is enormous with plenty of space for luggage ... more

Advantages Advantages A versatile MPV that has various seating combinations for everyday use

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit under powered on roads with inclines

We purchased this seven seat version of the scenic which is a new addition to the Renault range and has the name "Grand Scenic" , Dynamique model which is fitted with the 1.6 VVT 16V petrol engine, fuel comsuption is pretty good averaging around 32 MPG, whas been better but I do a lot of local driving in a built up area After driving a 15 year old car for the past year the Grand Scenic was a luxury to drive, the drivers seat has a large range of movement, both vertically and horizontally and together with a fully adjustable steering wheel (up/down and in/out) will adapt to a range of drivers ... more

    Advantages Advantages Many many advantages

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much leg room for the back 2 seats ( Childrens seats in back)

I had a Renault Espace bafore getting this car which was great but the reason I bought the 'Grand Scenic' was that I have 3 children and a step daughter that we have on fortnightly so usually I only reuire 5 seats but fortnightly we need an extra seat. With this review I am going to write it from a drivers point of view as I am not going to pretend to know alot about cars as I am not a mechanic but I do know how to drive and I know how this car handles. This is a typicall womans point of view review! The Renault grand Scenic is an ideal family car with great added exras. Automatic handbrake: ... more

    Advantages Advantages Seven Seats

Disadvantages Disadvantages Thirsty, Rear Suspension quite poor

I have now had the car for a year now and apart from a couple of minor issues (starter motor which was replaced same day under warranty and a check on the middle row seat belt fixings) which the garage sorted out quickly, no more problems. My children are 11 and 14 years of age but the legroom of the back two seats are tight. I find it a ideal car when the two rear seats are flat as the boot space is brilliant, plenty of room for luggage. The car itself drives very well, the seats are comfortable and the height is excellent and plenty of hidden storage space to hide things. The only problems ... more

Advantages Advantages Decent space for third-row passengers and a clever storage mechanism for these seats. Hugely versatile cabin.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Base models do not come with standard air-conditioning

We have had our car since May 2004. With full leather seats, double sun roof and climate control it is a very comfortable car. Visibility is excellent and the diesel engine frequently gets high 30s fuel consumption on long runs (35 - 38) and one morning recently 42 mpg down to the coast from London in the rush hour. Fantastic torque in the 1.9 diesel, it will accelerate / climb hills really well - power coming in at low revs compared to petrol engines. I noticed the contrast with a Ford Focuse we hired that needed to be kept at high revs to make similar progress. The alarm problem manifested ... more

3 Stars Quick review of Renault Grand Scenic 1.6 16v petrol (7 seater) by amina123 09/01/2009
Car gets dirty very quickly, Not too bad on petrol. Although the car is a seven seater, it is very cramped with 7 people inside it and only children (small ones at that) can fit into the back, although the car has a fold up food table at the back, again there is not alot of room. However, the car looks attractive as usually seven seaters look quite big and not very attractive, and also the key which is in form of a card key, although up to date, in the long run will be worse than keys because you drop ... more
