Advantages Advantages The spec, the price, economical and practical

Disadvantages Disadvantages Boot a little limited, lack of feel, nondescript looks

Five months ago my S Reg Laguna RT was getting a little tired and I decided to look for something newer. I prefer to purchase outright and I had a maximum budget of £7,000. I looked on the net and local car supermarkets at a large number of cars, and had a number of choices. I was hoping to try to get as many of the following as possible - An 03 plate or newer As good a specification as possible A reasonable looking car A car that could take five people with space for shopping/luggage An economical car with at least 40mpg After looking at a lot of different cars including the Toyota Avensis ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish, well equipped, technology laden car

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the most practical of estates and the engine is a little fussy

Yes, it's time for my second op on the trials and tribulations of our new cars. Just to recap, we need a new car and we've limited it to 3 cars - the VW Passat, Renault Laguna and Saab 9-3. You may have read my Saab 9-3 op - and if not, why not? -, so now it's time for round two and it's time for a Parisian challenger in the face of the popular Renault Laguna and here is my op on it... THE CURRENT FACE OF RENAULT Well, Renault are probably set to go down as having one of the most bizarre ranges of cars in the world, by 2003 with an onslaught of stunning - or weird - new cars. The first of ... more

Advantages Advantages great engine, stylish estate, great spec,

Disadvantages Disadvantages poor load capacity compared to competition

I owned this car for 9 months and have managed to rack up 30,000 miles, so I believe i'm in a good position to coment on all aspects of owner ship. Design The 'sports tourer' has been designed with the 'not so sure about estate car' market in mind. The sports tourer acheives this by a gradual transition of the tail gate which granted does look good but the load capacity suffers and theres a danger of loads resting / going through the rear window! On the outside the laguna is fairly tame compared to the rest of Renaults range, I personaly think it looks great. Inside My Expression model comes ... more

    Advantages Advantages Safe

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Uncomfortable

I drive a reasonable number of miles in my work (around 3000/month) and have recently had the opportunity to sample several cars in this class. The Laguna has been my least favourite for a number of reasons. Firstly, I have been driving this particular vehicle for around 5 months. It is a hire car, and I am unsure of the trim level - there are no other markings on the car other than 1.9dCi. It is an up to date model - 05 plate. My main issue is comfort. I am just over 6ft & I find that the door handle is constantly rubbing my knee. This sounds minor, but when you are in a car for a couple of ... more

Advantages Advantages Handling, comfort & styling

Disadvantages Disadvantages Constant costly repairs and parts.

I bought my 2001 Laguna II, 4 years ago, with 49,000 on the clock. I am not a high milage driver and have clocked up only 33,000 miles. Since then I have had numerous problems with the dashboard key reader unit and have replaced it. I have replaced three tyre pressure sensors due to malfunctions. I have had problems with the electrics atributed to the sunroof, and it has also continued to leak rainwater into the interior if left pointing nose down on driveway when raining. Last year I paid over £1000 for suspension mountings, timing belt and waterpump. Just before Christmas 2007, I had to ... more

Advantages Advantages 5* Safety Rating, Good Drive, Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Broken Sensors, Cheap Interior

My parents have owned a Renault Laguna since 2004. We decided that since our accident, we would need a car with a very high safety standard. The Laguna ticked all of the boxes with its excellent five-star european safety rating and sufficient boot space. In general, the Laguna is a good drive which is very smooth and durable on lengthy journeys but there are some major problems. The main two problems that we have experienced is that the tyre sensors always break and we have to take it in to our local Renault garage for repair at £75 a time. We have now stopped going to the garage and just put ... more

Advantages Advantages Well thought out, econimal estate car that drives better than most

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor sound system.

I own a Laguna estate 1.9 dci sports tourer. It handles better than most other large cars I've owned and never under or over steers in the dry; very impressive. I drive my car keeping the revs as low as possible wherever I go. On a long run at 55 mph I return an average 68.8 mpg. Mixed driving, the car returns an average 50.4 mpg per tank full. People can say as they please, which does not bother me, but the above figures are accurate. I even tried the age old method of filling the tank full to the brim and running until almost empty. Yep, almost 800 miles to a tank full. I have no regrets ... more

I've had my Laguna 1.9 dci dynamique 51 plate, for about a month now. Now il Start With The good bits, i do really like this car. i have been a car salesman and as one i have driven almost every car on general sale today. There are better cars but it is very good. In my Dynamique it has very nice part leather sports seats, with good side support. Plenty of adjustment for the Seat And steering wheel im 6'5 and im supremely comfortable. it, despite 17" alloys and low profile tyres it rides well. still handles ok too. My Car Came with Sat Nav which although handy is far too fiddly to use and you ... more

Advantages Advantages It's a car with four wheels!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages No feel about it - silly card key

Renault's are a source of arguement for my husband and I!! My husband used to be a part's manager for a local Renault dealer, but he didn't drive, so his love is based on his experience in this job as opposed to being a driver!! Me, I'm an ex-copper, driven loads of cars and vans and must say I am unimpressed and do not like Renaults much at all. So every time it comes to cars, my husband and I argue. Our current Laguna, the saloon 1.9dCI is our second one. Not through my choice - this one is my husband's company car. The first we got because he had always dreamed of getting a laguana. By the ... more

I bought my laguna back in 2007 from a secondhand dealer in Perterborough it came with a years MOT and had 63,000 on the clock and had previously been owned by two former keepers. So i parted with my £4,000 and off we went i noticed over the next few weeks that everytime i drove over a bump i heard a bang from the rear, so off i went to my local garage not Renaults and they said that my bushes on the back axle had gone and needed replacing at a cost of £200 the warranty with the car was for major engine parts so i had to get the wallet out. After 13 months the same thing happened again so i ... more
