Well it looks like Renault have done it agin with yet another solid built, reliable motor. I've had my Megane for just over 2 years now and I must admit, it has taken some abuse in that time from my less cautious driving style (no crashes, just good old fashioned hard driving, A to B asap). If buying new, the options package for the car is extensive with some nice additions such as keyless car - just touch the drivers door handle and the car unlocks, ...
...the main being electrical, which Renault have now fixed with a new design. The main electrics box (brain) in the engin compartmet was poorly designed and let water into the electrics so if you buy one of these second hand, make sure it has had this unit replaced with the new version. My car is a 53reg with about 20,000 miles on it. I got it about 4-5 months ago after my 206 took a dive into a ditch on some snow. Oops. I love this car. it's the 120bhp dCi. I can't say enough good things about it. i drive like a normal keen 20 something and I still get 42-45mpg! 30 quid will do me for 300 miles easy and with my driving that is amazing. my 1.1 pug 206 couldn't do that. I went from Brighton to Bluewater and averaged 78mph (no small ...

Driving a 2006 Megan Sedan 1.9 dci which is approaching it's 60000 service. Love the car, with that torque it make town driving fun. Handling a pleasure with excellent breaking system, still running on the original Michelin tyres. Some gripes : 1) Interior beige colour, one gets used to it but durability is not good. Great car, on average getting about 43 miles per gallon. With 6 gears this car is a great cruiser, manages higher speeds very easily. The quietest diesel ive driven. I have the privilege of having a Megane 1.9 dci for a company car for the last 2 years or so and have to say that overall it has been an enjoyable experience. It's a great little mover, holds the road well and the 6 gears help to improve both the drive and the fuel economy. One of the many perks of having it as a company car is that it doesn't look like the typical stereo type of one plus it can really shift if you're late for an appointment! However ...
...one occasion it has suffered a serious electrical fault. At first I thought it was just my bad luck but then when I realised that other guys in the company with the same model were having similar issues I realised it wasn't just mine. One of the common faults was an electrical one which would cause the complete dashboard display to light up at once and the engine could only be turned off by stalling the car - very scary!
