I drive a Renault Megane 2.0 litre 16V IDE in bright sunflower yellow. It is an "02" plate and this op is about the Megane from 1999 to 2002. Renault changed the Megane in 2002 and is now a different shape. Well, what can I say about this car? It is the car of my dreams, one which I waited for, for a long time. It is a company car, so I cannot comment on the purchasing side of things. Mind you, I did have quite a few silly questions when I first got the car, and I found my local dealer was a fantastic help. They didn't even laugh at me! Well, it couldn't have been until I had left, which is ... more

My partner got a free test drive day out with renault and was able to drive a couple of their cars and this was one of them. I will do my best to cover everything, but when I only experienced it for half an hour this will be a bit difficult. I wasn't concerned about the petrol it used up this particular day so I didn't really follow that part of it. I took more notice of it's steering, acceleration and braking and how comfortable it was. Now I don't actually drive yet but I was dying to havew a drive in this car and could of done had I passed my test when I had the opportunity to. anyway never ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to buy now, spec, comfort

Disadvantages Disadvantages space no haynes manual

When I bought this car I was originally looking for a 206 GTi but i chose the megane coupe because of the price for the spec/age of the vehicle. I bought a 51 plate 15K miles coupe for under £6000, which I think is a total bargain. The spec of the car is excellent, the on board computer is excellent, gives a very good idea of how the car is performing, from tank of petrol to tank of petrol. The ABS is excellent too, it saved me a couple of times during the winter, black ice is such a hazzard. I love this car though, when it hits about 4 thousand revs it just flies, I think many a driver has ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent engine & handling

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel economy, lack of space

Having read my original review on this car, it was obvious that I had to edit it. As I was new to Ciao at the time, I didn't appreciate the level of information that was required, so here goes! I purchased my Megane Coupe 2.0 16v in 1999 brand new from Arnold Clark. I was drawn to this type of car as I do a lot of business mileage and I thought the 2 litre engine would stand up to this. **Equipment** Air conditioning - Not needed a great deal in sunny Scotland, however worked extremely well on a recent driving in the South of France and Italy. Electric windows (front and rear) - Drivers window ... more

Advantages Advantages good looks, very pokey

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive, fuel economy

Since owning a renault causes the hirement of another renault when the car is in for servicing, this was the car i was given for the weekend. It had everything, sporty good looks, it turned heads even! A pokey little engine under the very curvaceous bonnet provided a really nice and steady purr. Braking was fine and steering a touch better. There's lots of oomph from the 2.0 directly injected engine and fuel economy is pretty good for a car in it's class with a steady 35 miles to the gallon in mixed urban and extra urban conditions. I was sad to have to take it back and would definately ... more
