Advantages Advantages Great for pose value, comfy and fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Huge doors! Inconvenient boot when roof down

Okay, so it had always been my wife's dream to have a convertible and whilst our wallets and ability to maintain a car wouldn't stretch to her dream of an old style MG - never mind the problems of having a little one and no space - we were really taken when we saw the new coupe-cabriolet Megane. This is a really comfy car and the 20 seconds to put the roof up or down really is amazing - and such fun to see people stop and look at you (only done it once sitting at traffic lights when it started to rain - car has to be stationary!) When the roof is down it changes the whole way you drive, no ... more

Advantages Advantages DROP ROOF , LOOKS AND LOWISH RUNNING COSTS

Disadvantages Disadvantages ITS A RENAULT BADGE, REAR PASSENGER SPACE

I wanted a good looking convertible but the wife hates rag-tops. So with my Mercedes valued at around 3,500- 4k and another grand in hand I found a diesel 6 speed , Privelidge spec ,November 2005 (55 plate here in England) and raced along with the deal. Its a high miler at 90k but with full Renault history i was not too concerned. After all its about £1,500 less than any other deisel version I had seen. I had read awful owner reviews with moans about leaking seals around the roof and the car being slow / sluggish but this has not put me off getting one. I will be the first too admit it does ... more

    Advantages Advantages pose factor 10

    Disadvantages Disadvantages legless back seats

we recently bought this car with help from disability, we had to pay roughly half, but it is worth it. i am not into engine spec and speed and stuff i am sure you could look that stuff up, i will say it all from the ride view. firstly we bought the midnight blue one, that is a really posey and impressive colour, and it looks sleek in all three views. with the roof up, the sleek lines, the glass roof and the opulent look is magnificant. then roof down with windows up (my personal favourite, like to show off this is the look, sleek sophisticated and smooth looking. then roof down windows down ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, good looking, er cheap & good looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's not a Porsche

Haviing bought the megane 1.6 cc in November 2006 i've been patiently waiting for some nicer weather to get a real feel for the car. Most reviews focus on how under powered this car is, with some reviews being an excuse to just moan about build quality. I'm here to set the record straight. it's true; it's never going to beat a porsche from the lights but that's not the point. It's a great car for pootling around in, with the roof down on a sunny day. It hasn't got the pose value of some other cabriolets but you can pick them up for very little (try £8k off a 6 month old model from one of the ... more

Advantages Advantages Topless motoring. Comfortable. Good MPG for auto.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Cramped in back.

I have owned an automatic version of this car for 30 months. After some teething problems with the roof leaking I have been very satisfied. I believe the newer versions have the roof problems sorted. This car is fabulous. It is pretty responsive for an automatic. It makes sunny days even sunnier as the roof comes down quickly and easily in no more than 20 seconds. The boot is a good size even when the roof is down - my friends are amazed at how much can be put in it. The downside is that everything needs to be stored before putting the roof down and conversely to get large items out the roof ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks very good and study

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy to drive

As I lease cars from new I change my car a lot and get to try them out and run them in. This was a particularly poor performer until well past the run in mileage. It was heavy to drive, despite power steering and felt very sluggish. This did improve once past 5000 but not enough to impress me. I was happy with some of the standard features, eg lights coming on automatically and windscreen wipers coming on automatically but found turning them off when I did not want them on frustrating and they failed to turn off a couple of times. I have an automatic and the gear change is very rough, far from ... more
