Advantages Advantages Looks, economy, reliability, fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Insurance issues, jealousy

There are plenty of sensible, intelligent reasons to own a Twingo. She is virtually non-petroholic, and the Clio-sourced engine (1996 onwards) is very hard to break. Twingo is amazing fun to drive, the true spritual successor to Alec Issigonis's Mini. Steering is light and precise, the manual five-speed gearbox effortless to use. She is the perfect town car, but in 1149cc form also a surprisingly good motorway car. Mine regularly runs from Kent to he Côte d'Azur without problem. The interior space for a car of this size has to be seen to be believed. The rear seat slides back and forth ... more

Advantages Advantages Huge fun, versatility, economy, affection

Disadvantages Disadvantages Unstable, lack of feel, weak mechanics

I bought a 1997 poppy red Twingo 1.2 MPI with full range equipment (all the goodies) when the Twingo was vogue at its best for my wife on her birthday. My wife instantly fell in love with her B-day gift. The cute little rascal was really loveable. My wife named it "croaky" after the toad-like looks of the hood and headlights. We gave it away after we both drove it for a staggering 225,000 kms. (Mind you; the engine had still a lot to go before overhaul) * * * Body : The cute little-big design gives the illusion that the car is a tiny micro. But when you get into it, you suddenly find out that ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun, Looks good and practical

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No basic model,

New Renault Twingo was launched here in september and it was a long time coming the car itself looks completely different to the original and is all round a slightly larger car. Dont get me wrong, though, it does look good. More sporty looking as Renault have aimed it at the younger market. Sadly only two specifications have been brought to this country. 1.2 16V 75 HP Dynamique and the 1.2 TCE 100 HP GT. The model I drove was the GT this 1.2 TCE 100 HP engine works very well in the New Clio but as the New Twingo is obviously smaller and lighter the drive is Fun to say the least but it you feel ... more

Advantages Advantages affordable tun, Comfortable interior

    Disadvantages Disadvantages small boot space

I have owned my Twingo for a month now, I would really recommend for ladies as a first car who do alot of travelling. The interior is fantastic and seating very comfortable if you commute too and from work. The appearance of the car is appealing, it looks modern but a small perfect car for us ladies. The running costs are great to as it is only 1.2 it is very effictient with petrol. Also with it being a small car it is reasonable cheap to tax aswel so if you are looking for something that is cheap to run this could ideal. The display inside does throw you to begin with as in is in the centre ... more

Advantages Advantages Superb space, excellent layout

Disadvantages Disadvantages small wheels/lower clearance ,Insurance complications

The Twingo is a very well designed town car. It feels as roomy as an estate, but in the body of a small car. The rear seats fold down (individually)to provide an incredible amount of useful space (I've transported the mattress of a king size-double bed in the boot), and the rear seats can also forward or back to provide either extra srorage space or extra leg room for passengers. The other REALLY usefull feature is a sunroof (soft-top) which extends almost the full width and length of the car, so is even better for transporting those large objects form IKEA or B&Q or sunning the rear ... more

    Advantages Advantages design,space,motor,handling... everything

Disadvantages Disadvantages minor quality of plastic in interior...nothing more!

Well, the thing why I adore this super mini is because its relatively cheap city car that has all the ++ on his side. Design: you like it or not, and if you like like I do, you can tune its design with many kits so it can look really mean! Space: Biger inside than 206,c3 and other small city cars and cheaper considerably too... Engine: well 1.2 60hp was fast wind for its 800kg of mass, but 1.2 16V is what converts this mini into a rocket! But with harder and wider tyres, like Pirelli, not soft grandpa Michelin for sure, if you want to handle curves like Schumacher.Handling with electric servo ... more
