Advantages: Scary, absorbing Disadvantages: Numerous problems prevent the game from being nearly as absorbing or atmospheric as it could be
I saw this game on the playstation when it first came out and I was very keen for it to be converted to the PC so that I could play it. Needless to say when it was released I went out and got it straight away, however, I was quite disappointed with it: the graphics have simply been stretched to fit the PC screen resolution, and objects which you can interact with have been redrawn in high resolution, so they stand out, which eliminates the searching ... ...is not changed from the playstation is the voice acting - it is absolutely terrible - the worst voice acting I have ever heard anywhere.
The final problem I encountered is that it does not support nvidia graphics cards correctly. Patches have been released to solve this problem, but they have not completely solved my problems.
Unfortunately the pathetic voices and poor graphics detract greatly from the atmosphere of this game, but overall it's ...

Advantages: So scary u'll be too scared to play yet it is so addictive u can't help but..... Disadvantages: that it's not as good as the latest installments in the series
I said to my bros what is that rubbish u're playing? Then he was too scared to play it & then i took over. 10 minutes later i was scared witless & i've never been scared by any horror movie except the remake of Night of the Living Dead....
Atmosphere
The atmosphere is amazing & it manages to create such an eerie & creepy environment. Some criticise the 'cheesiness' of the the filiming & acting quality. But for us B movie lovers this is simply part ... ...been retained for the later games.
Some parts of the game are so scary and foreboding that u will not dare turn round that corner or exit a room!
Object
The basic idea is that you are trapped in a mansion which is more zombie & monsters than humans after your team landed by helicopter to investigate the area. Very few of your colleagues are still alive.. & u'll have a job staying alive yourself...
U must explore the mansion to find a way out. ...

Advantages: Scary, excellent cutscenes/story, Disadvantages: no long lasting appeal,
i originally played this games back in 2000, ever since my 1st go on it i have been immensely engrossed in the quality storyline.
Members of the S.T.A.R.S team are trapped inside an old mansion near racoon city, your mission.... escape alive and in 1 peice.
Simple as it might sound this game actually take a lot of brainwork, its not just about pulling out your guns and shooting everything on screen, its about thinking ahead 1st. for example, you ... ...is in front of you, sometimes it can be better to save your ammo for a more viscious enemy and take out the zombie with a knife.
in almost every room you go into theres either some creature lurking around to make you history or various items to find which can help you unlock new rooms, get to different places in the game, etc.
A lot of realism was put into this game, for example you dont have stupidly high amount of health, you can only carry a ...

Advantages: Classic 'Survival Horror' experience, Simple graphics - should easily run on older systems, faster loading times than Playstation version Disadvantages: Scrappy dated graphics, Hilariously bad voiceover acting, little replay value
OK, so it might be looking a little dated now but this is practically where the survival horror genre was born. Age has not been kind to this game as the graphics, sound and gameplay are all considerably dated compared to present day releases. However this game was at the cutting edge when it was released in 1996 and was one of the most innovative games around. In the game you play one of two characters Chris or Jill who are trying to escape from ... ...in Racoon Forrest. The main premise of the game is to navigate the claustrophobic mansion solving puzzles and trying to survive its many undead inhabitants. The game excels at providing a tense and challenging gaming experience due to the limited ammunition and the claustrophobic nature of the mansions rooms and corridors- something which seems to have been lost in later instalments. The monsters in the original may look drab and unsophisticated ...

Advantages: The great thing that I found with this game was that it took me quite a while to complete and it also has great gameplay. Disadvantages: There were long loadin times if you go through the doors.
...game. To my great satisfaction resident evil was even better than a movie.
Resident evil is a gory game and so is not for the faint hearted. You go around a huge mansion trying to solve puzzles and trying to kill every zombie you come into contact with. Resident evil has many parts that will make you jumt for instance you are walking down a quiet corridor and all is well when suddenly three viscious dogs come leaping through the window. Aswell as ... ...night did I spend playing resident evil and scaring myself to death.
The only fault I have found with this game was that there were long loadin times if you go through the doors.
I think people who enjoy horror movies should buy this game. However I recommend that younger children dont play it as it is genuinely scary. ...

...disappoint fans of the previous Resident Evil's. The format is still basically the same, but the graphics are even more amazing than in previous games. The only point I'd argue with is the £39.99 price tag I've seen in a few mainstream games retailers (naming no names), but shopping around, and considering a pre-owned game is definately worth it - I got mine for £29.99 (not pre-owned). I did finish it rather quickly, but you have to bear in mind ...

Advantages: Scary and atmospheric Disadvantages: Little challenge
Resident Evil is a good game, but is not quite the classic that some people seem to think. It's true that it's atmospheric and scary, and the visuals are good, but it has a number of drawbacks. The first is that it is frustratingly slow - you have to wait for the game to load between every room or location, and when you know where you're going and want to get there quickly, it can be very annoying. The second problem is that the puzzles in the game ... ...form of your character's thoughts. The puzzles would be suitable for a child, but ironically of course the rest of the game isn't. Finally the game is just too short: it can be completed in three hours. Overall Resident Evil is not a bad game, but is far from perfect. ...

Resident Evil CODE: Veronica marks the first Resident Evil game not to appear on the PlayStation. Capcom want to use the advanced graphical and gameplay capabilities of the Dreamcast to create the ultimate terrifying experience. Continuing the story of Claire Redfield after Resident Evil 2, CODE Veronica throws you into the very heart of the Umbrella Corporation’s evil schemes. As Claire you are in Europe following up a lead on your missing brother ... ...would be better than previous Resident Evil games (the Dreamcast is a much more powerful machine) but it is not just in their quality that CODE Veronica excells but in the smoothness of their interaction. The camera has no fixed position and can be positioned any where giving you the most useful and dramtic viewpoints. There is also a smooth transition between levels and locations - no loading times! The first person viewpoint will propel you deep ...
