Advantages Advantages Zombies, shotguns, carnage, hoo-gah!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Straight port of the Playstation game, takes no advantage of a PC's power.

RESIDENT EVIL 2 Muugh! Raaaauuuugh! Graagh! Bacon sandwich… are the normal zombie-like sounds that emanate from most bedrooms after a Friday night out with the beer monkeys. Along with the feeble, unbalanced shuffling to the kitchen and pathetic attempts to out-stare the fridge into opening because you've forgotten what a handle is, you begin to recognise how spot on George A. Romero's assessment of a crumbling society within Dawn of the Dead really was - we're all essentially zombies! Arrrggghhh!! Without Romero's effortless vision on humanities slavery to consumerism the whole zombie ... more

Advantages Advantages Gameplay, Plot, Sound & Music, Longevity & is worlds better than Resi1.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing new on PlayStation original.

Forking out 8 quid at EB for this vital piece of gaming has made me a happy man! Admittedly a man who fully expects to be brutally mauled by the nearest flock of crows or timid pet alsatian, but this is a small pay-off to owning what will become a great addition to your collection. It was the first game I owned on my first console, the Playstation, so I have fond memories of staying up late scaring myself to sleep (don't we all). Now I've fallen in love again. This time, though, it's not quite so straightforward - I will begin with my quibbles at Resi2 on the PC, then reiterate why I love it ... more

    Advantages Advantages Graphics, zombies

Disadvantages Disadvantages view a bit sad

This must be one of the scariest games I have played. I must agree with the comments made be below about the puzzles being easy but then again, most games today are about violence and gameplay. In a lot of ways this is a shame. The weapons are fantastic and it is a very addictive game. It has lasted an extremely long time and still going strong. One fault I found was the view is a bit annoying as the computer continually changes the screen. As it is set like this, I think the puzzles should be harder and the shooting of zombies and suchlike, easier. The zombies are great as are the graphics ... more

Advantages Advantages Improved graphics, sound, voice acting, stability

Disadvantages Disadvantages Unfortunately we should've demanded these things in the RE1, the graphics and sound are still well below par of today's games

I have to confess that before buying this game I downloaded a warez version to see how it compared to resident evil 1. Thankfully I was impressed, and ordered the game. One of my biggest gripes has been addressed: the stability. Resident evil 2 is much more stable than its predecessor and has crashed very few times. The graphics are greatly improved, though still not up to the normal expected PC standards. Objects which you can interact with are still drawn in a higher resolution, though the problem is not so pronounced now. The voice acting is far more believable, but it won't be winning any ... more

    Advantages Advantages very scary

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too hard on original, too easy on arrange

When I bought Resident Evil 2, I didn't really know what to expect. All I'd heard was that is was very scary, but a good game. Both of these are definitely true, but I was also greatly impressed by the whole storyline of the thing, that really wraps you in. Basically (it comes as 2 CDs, one male (Leon) and one female (which I haven't used - but it gives a slightly different storyline with different tasks to complete), you are in a city which has been infested by zombies. There's this T-virus thing which is really bad, and you are there to save the world from becoming zombified (because you've ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Graphics, Sound, Gameplay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pre-rendered backrounds, thats it!

Resident evil is the first game I have "ever, ever" completed. It had me gripped from start to finish. This game is ideal for the gamer who doesn't play on a regular basis but enjoys a good game. It has all the elements you want, suspense, puzzles, action, great graphics, good sound. Suspense: Have you ever seen the Birds by Alfred Hitchcock? There's a scene like that in there! Puzzles: Yes they are not difficult, and for your experienced gamer they are probably tame, but for the likes of me, I found that they taxed me just enough to keep me interested, while not so much that it detracted from ... more

Advantages Advantages great visuals, engaging story, lots of violence, engaging puzzles, very atmospheric

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Following on from the huge success of the first Resident Evil game, Resident Evil 2 effectively offers the same experience all over again, only this time bigger, gorier and with much improved visuals. As before the game is played from an isometric perspective, with rendered 3D characters roaming through stationary, beautifully designed backdrops, the gameplay consisting of a mix of ultraviolent zombi-killing mayhem and cerebral real-world puzzles that must be completed to allow you to progress to the next part of the game. You once again play as part of a specialist police team, except this ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Gameplay and story, Plenty of shootin,

Disadvantages Disadvantages more of a shooter than survival, no long appeal

after completing the first resident evil game i was eager to play the second but after a while i became disapointed. Just like the first resident evil you play as a S.T.A.R.S member but this time you are in an abandoned zombie filled city. On first looks the camera angles/ graphics are very similar to the prequel, but the gameplay is a different level altogether. You still have to solve puzzles and find items in order to progress, however it should be classed as more of an action shooter than a survival game which in a way makes the game a bit easier. With resident evil 2 you will find its not ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great game

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

An ultimate role play/adventure/beat em up game. A great blent of blood, guts, head munching living dead creatures who like the taste of brains Its a great conceptual game based on the idea of "night of the living Dead" type films. if you ever get the chance to play this on the playstation, do it. It is fab. It may be a couple of years old but it is still a good alternative to Tomb Raider/ Duke Nukem type games. It involves shooting a lot of Zombies and making your way through the now living-dead riden town at night. You get to stop at shops and different locations and pick up ammo and items ... more
