Advantages Advantages Immersive, great graphics, great story expansion and characterisation, fun, accessible, visceral.

Disadvantages Disadvantages In order to get the best out of it, you need a light-gun peripheral, and a friend to play with.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a 2007 rail shooter released for the Nintendo Wii. It explores the events of classic survival zombie horror titles Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil I, and Resident Evil III, as well as touching briefly on Resident Evil II. The player assumes the roles of myriad classic characters from the franchise, including Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and, for the first time ever... brace yourself, Albert Wesker. I didn't know anyone who played through Resident Evil I without wondering what it would be like to see the events through Wesker's standard ... more

Advantages Advantages Long game, pretty sweet light-gun mechanics.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The bizarre inclusion of movie info, but the reducing of characters. O_O

ust like the zombies in the games themselves, Capcom has resurrected its gun survivor franchise and has unleashed Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on unsuspecting Wii owners. The last gun survivor game here in the US came out in 2003 (RE: Dead Aim) and was actually a pretty decent offing. Umbrella Chronicles turns Resident Evil 0, REmake (the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 1), and RE3 into light gun games, and throws in an all-new location to boot. This is one nostalgic trip down blood soaked memory lane for Resident Evil fans. But people just looking for a good time will find it here ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun gameplay, Fills in the gaps between games very well, Superb exclusive content.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Might be a bit confusing for newcomers to the series.

An exclusive Resident Evil for the Wii? Indeed it turned out to be so, Resident Evil fans may be aware that spin-offs from the main series are in general, terrible. I was overjoyed upon finding out that Umbrella Chronicles is indeed, not just better than all spin-offs but is also, in my opinion, better than some of the games in the main series, despite being an on-rails shooter, contrasting sharply with the other Resident Evil games. I find it important to point out that Capcom has made this as a ‘love letter’ to fans, specifically the die hard Wesker fans, who (believe me) are numerous ... more

Advantages Advantages Good storyline and graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not being able to control movement

I recently bought a few Resident Evil games I had yet to try from Amazon. The Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii console cost me around £7 used including delivery which I thought was a good price especially as the used copy I got appeared brand new. This was released in 2007. The game has an age rating of 15 as if contains violence. Not all of the levels are 2 player, but selected levels can be played by 2 people although I am yet to try this out and have only played single player. You will need a nunchuck controller as you will need to use both hands to control the game. This was the ... more

Advantages Advantages Good graphics, Good sound, great controls, wonderful shooting everything fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages The stupid 'hit the right button' sectoins which have nearly ruined it for me

I was lucky enough to get this game for my birthday from my girlfriend who knows I like shooting games (I have a playstation set up with 2 G-Con45s, and copies of Time Crisis, and Point Blank 1, 2 &3 which we still play together frequently for hours at a time. This sounded like the perfect game, zombies (another love of mine) and shooting, what could possibly be better. It was literally only a few minutes before I was excited to get this game playing. Upon loading, we were presented with graphics, which I have to sayu were pretty impressive, ok not up there with game ont he 360 or Playstation ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Weird array of scenarios can get quite confusing

I first of all, apologise for my long absence from writing reviews, work has been keeping very busy lately so I even barely have time to try out the games to let everyone know how every nook and cranny is like for a game. But let's start with this one and hopefully I'll have more time in the future for more game reviews. Advantages Advantages fun to play, nice to look out, surprises around corners

Disadvantages Disadvantages bit boring, feels too repetative

I got some time to play the Resident Evil: the umbrella chronicles on the Wii myself, and what I found out is that you do not control the movement of the character, it is like from the old Sega arcade-shooter games and you progress by killing the bad guys but the camera will show you the directions towards the action and make you progress. You point and click the gun and kill the zombies, you point and pick up some items. It is like going old school. The game is very good and nice. Every level has its own very good personality. You will enjoy the game as you go along with each levels and as ... more

Advantages Advantages Long game, Great graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cant walk around your self

At first when i got this game i thought O no another rubbish shooting game on the wii. I had Call of Duty 3 and that was poor as was Splinter Cell Double agent. The only really decent shooting game was Red Steel. So i loaded the game up and i tried to walk around, i was like what on earth do i do. I paused the game and looking in the manual then i realised it moves for you and i all you need to do is point a shoot. i was a bit dissapointed with that but it was a good game. **Graphics** The graphics are wicked on this game. The zombies do look real. i didnt expect good graphics from this game ... more

Advantages Advantages plenty to do,many secret chracters, weapons to unlock and weapons upgrade.

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be very tired your arms when holding the wii remote for long hours of gameplay :P

This Resident Evil game is very different from is original game as you see the whole chracter in the screen as this game is like a first person shooter where you aim on the screen and shot like "House of the dead" and "Time Crisis" on the arcade's. In my opinion an excellent game overall is has the storyline from Resident Evil Zero to 3 and a finally senario of the events after the racoon city incident so 4 senarios in total to game. Playable chracters include Rebecca and Billy for Zero,Chris and Jill in ReE,Jill and Carlos in Three and final senario Chris and Jill again. There also side ... more

Advantages Advantages Great arcade style game

Disadvantages Disadvantages could have more levels

Resident evil umbrella chronicles is an arcade style fps shooter, your characters have a set path that you cannot break and you shoot anything that moves or looks dodgey. You play through Resident evil 0, 1 and 3 they have the same storylines and characters as the original games. You get to play side missions as different characters such as albert wesker (im not all clued up on resident evil backstory but what i do know is this is a guy gone crazy for power) The graphics in the game are pretty good by the wii's standards but in the world that is HD dont be expecting it to compete against xbox ... more
