Ribena Ribena Ribena - As Long As Its Ribena! Review with images

AdvantagesTastes amazing

DisadvantagesYou must love blackcurrant! Expensive!

"...Ribena, Ribena, I love it! Ribena Blackcurrant, Ribena Apple and Ribena Strawberry - you name it as long as it's Ribena! So why do I love Ribena so much? Throughout my childhood, there were 6 children in my immediate family. My parents would never buy us Ribena as it would get drunk too quickly and well, they weren't that rich - lets face it, it is expensive stuff for a concentrated juice drink. We were always subjected to the supermarkets ..." Read review

Flat or Sparkling

AdvantagesHealthy, No articfial stuff, economical, great taste

DisadvantagesLack of more flavours, high sugar content

"Ribena has been one of those drinks that have been around for ages and I suppose one of the reasons why I have only recently started enjoying this fabulous drink is because it has been rather over shadowed by its more illustrious competitor Vimto. Ribena is made by the giant conglomerate Smith Kline & Beecham so the quality aspect is certainly ascertained and the product certainly delivers in all aspects. Personally I use the Ribena Original ..." Read review

Its Bogey Coloured

AdvantagesIts bogey coloured

DisadvantagesVery artificial in taste

"...The bottle is the usual Ribena shaped one and was only available in the smaller size. So we get home and everyone wants a try, so find some glasses and pour a small amount in each one, as it is supposed to be concentrated. Unlike the regular blackcurrant Ribena, which is very concentrated this actually appeared quite diluted when it came out of the bottle but the bottle and a quick taste assured me it wasn’t, so I just put the normal amount in. ..." Sweetpea Noddy and the Aldi man came to my house for tea the other day, this is the story of what happened. I’m Sweetpea’s grey haired old mam and I was brought up on a strict diet of fry ups and lovely cuppa’s. Everyone comes to my house for tea, they all walk up the street ..." Read review

Only The Best Blackcurrants Make It!

AdvantagesRich In Vitamic C

DisadvantagesHigh In Sugar

"...to only treat us to Ribena occasionally as it is rather expensive. It was usually only bought when either myself or my brother was feeling a bit poorly as my mother saw it as a bit of "pick me up" in a similar way to how she viewed Lucozade. Anyway before I launch into my review I usually like to give a little bit of background information and today is no exception The History The origins of the concentrated Blackcurrant Fruit Cordial drink ..." The queen can afford to buy it

Advantagesit's drinkable

Disadvantagesis very expensive and there's not a lot in it

"...a 1 litre bottle of Ribena Original. Into the car he gets grumbling and mumbling about something incomprehensible. 'Sorry?' I ask, wondering what the hell he's on about this time.... 'Bloomin 4 quid that thing cost me!' he says in a rather high pitched voice that I haven't heard since the dog jumped up onto his groin...! Apparently it is, and I quote, "THE most expensive juice in the garage" according to the cashier who probably cannot quite ..." Read review

Ribena... The best blackcurrant juice around!!!

AdvantagesGreat taste, full of flavour, Good for Vitamin C, helps me get through a sore throat!

DisadvantagesThe cost compared to other brand, sugar content

"...me a cup of hot Ribena with a slice of lemon on it, telling me it would help my throat to feel better. Some years later and living in my own place, if ever I am feeling low with a sore throat I am soon down to my local shop to buy myself a bottle of Ribena to make myself feel better and relive those childhood memories! I have to admit that I really like Ribena, especially hot Ribena even though some people look at me funny when I say that as ..." Read review

Like Drinking The Syrup From A Tin Of Fruit

Advantagesan interesting colour

Disadvantagessugar content, price

"...am like a slave to ribena toothkind, i decided to buy a 2l bottle of ribena original because my norm, ribena toothkind, had run out. My conscience was ok because on the front of the bottle, on a purple label around the top there was a big C, for vitamin C? I hoped so. Also on this label is a statement, "No artificial sweetener, flavour or colour" so I don't feel TOO bad about buying it. It cost me £4.84 for 2 litres, making it £2.42 per litre. ..." Read review

Dark and Sweet, A Natural High

AdvantagesRefreshing, healthier than most commercial soft drinks

DisadvantagesNot quite as healthy as the ads imply

"Ribena beverages have yet to make their way across the Atlantic on a commerical basis. Indeed, a visit to one of the official Ribena websites (http://www.ribena.com/flash_index.html) confirms that the land of my birth in not among the 22 countries in which these drinks are sold. So for me, Ribena--like English Cadbury, double cream with pudding, and Irn Bru--remains part of a growing number of items that I associate with visits across The Great Puddle. Despite ..." Fruit in a bottle

Advantagesreally Fruity taste

DisadvantagesA shade sweet perhaps, and a bit pricey

"...with a glimpse of the Ribena bottle standing on the kitchen counter. To be honest we never got Ribena very often it was too expensive which it still is to this day. On the occasions when we did though it was a big treat. The dilution of the mixture was controlled by my Mum just in case we overdone it on the Ribena side. We could use as much water as we wanted LOL.. Ribena is one of these products, which seem to withstand the test of time no ..." Read review

Ribenaberry Yummness

AdvantagesLasts a long time, full flavour, tokens to collect

DisadvantagesQuite Expensive

"...I have to say that Ribena is awesome, its full of flavour and a little bit goes a long way. Its very strange though because I don't very much like blackcurrants or blackcurrant flavoured things so I cant get my head around why I love Ribena so much! I prefer to keep the Ribena in the fridge I don't know why I just feel it will keep it fresher for some reason, maybe because of the super syrupy consistency of it or something. There are 3 different ..." Read review

My childhood drink! Yum!

AdvantagesPlenty of vitamin C and tastes great!

DisadvantagesCan have a high sugar content

"...pretty much everybody knows the Ribena label! So I'm here to tell you about the Original Blackcurrant Ribena drink, which I have to say is my all-time favourite juice drink! Ribena has been around for decades, but the first drink to be produced by the company was Ribena Original Blackurrant Juice Drink. Ribena, generally is known for it's high Vitamin C content as 1 serving of this drink has 4 times more vitamin C than 1 orange! Surprising eh? ..." Read review

I Love Me Some Blackcurrant Ribena

AdvantagesGreat taste, lovely smell

DisadvantagesExpensive

"...every now and again when Ribena is on offer I will purchase a bottle or two. When you open the bottle you just twist the lid which breaks the gold foil. To tell you the truth I don’t see the point of this apart from it making the product look luxurious. Once you have opened the lid you will notice a plastic pull tab inside, once this is pulled out you will be ready to pour. When pouring the liquid it is like a syrup and has a deep purple colour to ..." Read review

Ribena... No Thanks, I'm Sweet Enough Already...

AdvantagesLovely Taste!

Disadvantagesa lot of sugar....apperantely

"...tend to go for the Ribena light, but if I cant find that I’ll buy this. But, usually what puts me off is the fact I can taste sugar in a drink, but I cant for the life of me taste it in this, so I still really enjoy it! Ya with me?! Ribena is the different kind of drink. You have Lilt, Coke, Tango and many others that are fizzy, and taste like acid. They have a lot sugars, and colourings, and although this isn’t colourings and sugar ..." Read review

A drink for all ages

AdvantagesHealthy, great taste

Disadvantagesnot many flavours, bit expensive

"Ribena is suitable for anyone of any age! I have drank it throughout my life! I went up the shop because my mum had not been shopping and we did not have anything to drink so I went up the shop to get a drink! Went into the fridge and spotted a Ribena carton! There was a choice of blackcurrant, strawberry and blackcurrant toothkind! I went for the normal blackcurrant Ribena! On my way home then I put the red and purple short bendy straw into the ..."
