Advantages: Very light, Easy to use, Easy to install Disadvantages: Battery run-down even when turned off meaning battery has to be removed when not in use, minimum computer specifications not guaranteed to work
The RIo Diamond PMP300 mp3 player is one of the most effective and price-efficent I have ever come across. I purchased mine about 6 months ago for a cut down price of £65 and my PC at the time was just about better than the ''required specifications''. However, after about a week or so, my mp3 player refused to be recognised by my computer, but this is all ok now as I have since acquired a new computer. This player holds up to 32 MB of mp3 files (I find this is usually around 9-11 songs) and can be upgraded to 64 MB (18-22 songs) for around 70 quid. Advantages: Simplicity, Very light & quite durable Disadvantages: Can give fake reports on battery power.

...looked much better than the Rio 300, sadly it didn't work with my computer (which is only two years old). It seems that quite a few mp3 players do not like the parallel port software used by the mp3 players, I spent a whole morning in PCworld with my laptop trying out all of the MP3 players before finding the rio, the only one in the shop that worked. So sadly I was forced to get this, but it really isn't as bad as people seem to say, I liked the ... ...nice easy controls and the rio manager software is dead easy to use, and the new upgrades on the internet are very funky. If you have an older computer you may not have much choice, but if you want a good MP3 plaer which is expandable should you be in need of an x-mas present. It doesn't eat up batteries like walkmans and runs on one AA battery. Its pretty drop proof (I tend to drop it all the time, it doesn't complain that much). Tip-get some better ...

It allows one to store up to 64mb (with a extra flash memory card) in one go, and plays with amazing quality

...the quality is fantastic. The Rio at its basic model which the 300 is has only thirty two meg of Ram, which works out to eight or none songs. I use mine when I am out walking the dog or on my pusbike, skip nonexistant as there are no moving parts there is no skip as there are in the discman. The sound quality is fantastic as long as you have 128bit then its CD quality. Buy one you'll enjoy although you maybe better going for the 500 which has sixty ...

MP3 players have exploded on the scene - so strangely, this, the first one to become widely available, remains one of the best. The stylish layout and impressive appearance are top notch, and it is so light that inserting a battery doubles the weight of the unit! ...and decided that the Diamond Rio PMP 300 was the gadget for me.
This mp3 player comes with a 32 meg memory card, upgradable to 64 with a flash memory card, 3.3volt only. The playback is very good, and the software it comes with is both easy to use and quick. Although the transfer is not as quick as some of the USB systems, it is good enough for you to wait whilst is works. It comes with an serial thru port, which plugs in so that you can also have ... ...and scanner connected.
Now, this may sound a little computer jargon heavy, but to be honest it is extremely simple to set up. It comes with a VERY accurate manual which features every piece of information you could ask for, and followed to the letter it should cause you no problems whatsoever.
Generally the size is also good, though it's heavier than some other similar products. The design is classy, featuring a solid black finish with grey around ...

The Rio 300 is a very stylish but simple mp3 player. I bought this player just after it hit the shops in Nov 99. The player is still in perfect working order. This particular mp3 was one of the first players available. Contained within the player is 32mb of memoery, this equates to about 50mins of music. Additional memory is available, but is not really required. The software supplied with the player is very easy to use and since the connection to ... ...The player itself takes one AA battery to run. Included in the price is headphones, they are not the best but will certainly do. The mp3 player is ideal for walking, jogging or running as it has no moving parts, therefor eliminates any jumping of tracks. MP3 Players are becoming ever more popular in today's modern world, and so it can often be difficult to see what kind of player you want, whether it be for personal or professional use.
However, this is one that I think would suit the needs of most people for whatever use. It really is a very good player for all kinds of reasons.
Firstly, it is not overly complicated. It is easy to use, durable, and, although it does use up the batteries quite ... ...personal use. It does not have an overly large capacity on it (32MB to be precise, which holds about 8 or 9 songs) but this is all that is necessary.
Secondly, it is the present. Currently, it is a very convenient and simple way to listen to your favourite music, whatever it might be, and it is always easy to obtain. It is also exceptional quality when recorded onto.
Finally, it is the future. Experts think that CDs may be no longer used within ...

Advantages: Light, portable, easy to use Disadvantages: Smartcards are expensive and the built in hard drive is not very big
I received this for Christmas last year and since then have hardly been separated from it. It is light and easily able to fit in a pocket. I can take it anywhere with me and there's no problem with putting music on it. RioPort Manager is fast and so downloading the songs onto the device is quick. I think that the quality is not 100% but I don't expect it to be from a cheaper version such as the PMP300. I think that it's definitely worth the money ...

i bought my rio pmp300 in november 99 , by july 2000, it had broken, the catch that held the battery clip on broke so the battery would only stay in if it was held shut with a pice of selotape, frankly i didnt expect this from a pice of equiptment costing around £150!. after taking it back to the shop i was told that i would have to send it directly to rio, after a good few weeks i got a letter back saying that it couldnt be repaired or replaced!, ...

...with some chunky output! The Rio PMP300 is very cheap as mp3 players go, and packs a lot of sound. The four eq settings are remarkably similar, but they do sound mighty fine! The sound quality is amazingly good for something of its size. And for once, some half decent headphones have been bundled with it. My first every MP3 player which i purchased about 4 years ago whilst on holiday in spain.
The first thing that struck me about the MP3 player was its crystal clear sound quality and how it was much better than tapes and indeed Compact Disk players.
The second was how good it look and how easy it was to operate quickly and efficently. The only cownside i found to this product was that it uses batterys very fast and only holds about six songs with ... ...a memory upgrade and still use this player today.
The player was a little bit pricey at arounds £250 but that was a long time ago and i am sure that prices have dropped.
The songs are easy to upload to the device and are easy to remove.
An excellent MP3 player that sounds great, looks good and is great for the busy person ...
