RIO SCANNING LASER HAIR REMOVAL SYSTEM I had quite thick hair on my chin and face. I used every method including bleach, threading, waxing etc, but all in vain. Then some one told me about the salon laser hair removal, which was expensive. I managed to have 10 of these professional laser sessions, which managed to get rid of 80% of my facial and chin hair but I was not 100%.satisfied Due to the texture of my hair I needed more sessions. (Normal person needs about 7 to 10 sessions) Most stubborn hair was on my chin and neck. . One day as I was going through ARGOS book, found this new ... more

1 Star Quick review of Rio Scanning Laser by mAria52 29/03/2008
I purchased this very expensive product having used epilators in the past (with success), but was looking for a permanent solution. Sadly the Rio Scanning Laser is not the answer. I found it very time consuming and awkward to cover even a very tiny area and it did not remove the hairs. What I found very irritating was having to overlap every minute area over and over. In the end I gave up and returned it. I would not recommend it at all, don't waste your money, use an epilator instead.

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages The whole product is one great failure

The above mentioned product did not live up to my expectations at all. I thought it'd be a revolution and that I'd have a smooth skin and bin my shaver. One year on, I still have to shave my armpits, legs and bikini area regularly, as Rio Scanning Laser has failed completely. I ticked all necessary conditions required to be able to use it (I have dark hair etc.) but still, after numerous attempts, I never saw even one hair fall out. I used it a few times on my armpits and legs, it took me hours each time and my arm was aching from keeping it up for more than an hour, so I was really furious ... more

Advantages Advantages It plug's in and saved me on money buying batteries.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't really work, very time consuming, over priced plastic

I bought the Rio Scanning Laser last year and thought to my self it is cheaper than having sessions of hair removel at the skin clinics and salons and the advertisements in the magazines looked very promising. I used this product for 3 months on my upper lip and my legs and found that there was no affect on my hair. I then tried it for a further 4 months thinking if I used it for a longer period of time, it would be effective but that was not the case. On the manual it advised that the scanner head would treat up to 20 hairs but that is not the case. I used it on my leg and it took over 2 and ... more

The rio scanning lazer does 20 hairs at a time and is perfect for home use . I have been going to a clinic for 1 year having unwanted hair removed ,which was painfull not to mention the cost . The rio is painless, also you have the advantage of zaping the unwanted hair as soon as it comes . You must read the instructions as hair does grow in stages and you need to destroy the root. ,so there is no quick fix . i have been using the rio for upper lip and chin and it does work . However i havent used it on large areas, but i would say it would take a long time .i have recouped the cost of this ... more

Advantages Advantages Scaning wand probably useful if used correctly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Single hair teatment probably works but will be hard, determined work

Hello, I have been reading these reviews as I am considering this product. Firstly, there are 2 different products listed as the same here, the single hair, and the scaning wand. As an ex-laser therapist (SLP1000, 4yrs) I would never even think of treating a single hair root- this is a silly idea even for a professional. Also, as this product is "safe" for untrained consumers, it is a very very low wattage, compared with "real" lasers at 40W per pulse. The twisted and deformed hair described by one reviewer results from under-powered treatment which damages the follicle but doesn't kill it ... more

Advantages Advantages Portable, great for home use, easy to use, very effective

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive!

I suffered from annoying hair for along time especially on my face and belly. The Rio Laser was great because it targets lots of hair at once.. just like the salon versions. I have tried machines that only do 1 hair at a time before and I gave up quickly because it was so time consuming. The Rio isn't too bulky and it is very simple to use. Simply set it to the right level (patch test required) and drwa it along the skin where the hair is. All the lights and buzzers tell you when it is working. Although you can feel the hairs and even smell them burning... it really isn't a painfull sensation ... more

It comes with a security code to avoid misuse. I've recently moved house and have some how thrown away the manual along with the password. Can't figure out how to use it now. Email me on happysnake77@yahoo.co.uk if you can help. Thanks.
