Advantages: easy clean, saves time, tastes great Disadvantages: no power indicator light
...Rival 3.5 litre slow cooker
Save time by going slow.... No standing over the stove and stirring pans. YIPEE.
I bought the Rival 3.5 litre slow cooker because I can no longer cook full meals on the stove, and wanted to make things easier for my carer husband. I just wish Id discovered slow cooking sooner. It is brilliant.
This one has enough for 2 to 3 people, depending how much you like to eat, but can still cook a chicken or joint, and the meat just melts off the bones. We put some of those little minute steak slices in it once, they disintegrated totally, so wont be doing that again lol!
I like the oval shape and the removeable pot is a doddle to clean. It really is stick resistant like they say. I havent tried it in the microwave as its too big, nor in the oven, as I don't see the point of doing that when I bought the slow...

Advantages: Small amount of freezer space needed Disadvantages: Too much ice cream!!!
...I really hadn’t planned to buy an ice cream maker. In fact, I had been so disillusioned by one that I had years ago that it had quite put me off the idea all together as it had been so much hassle that it was never used and, in fact, it even managed to get itself broken without ever having BEEN used. Quite a record in our household!
Why then did I choose the Rival. Well, to be honest, I saw it demonstrated on television and it looked so easy that I couldn’t resist it. The main attraction was the fact that you didn’t have to find room in the freezer for the whole of the base – or bucket – but only the “Gel Disk” which will fit easily into any freezer or freezer compartment.
RIVAL - a make I was not familiar with - made by Holmes Products (Europe) Limited. www.theholmesgroup.com/europe.
The actual ice cream maker...

Advantages: Completely forget that you've had to cook dinner Disadvantages: No indication that the power is on
...I was first introduced to the delights of using a slow cooker by a former boyfriend of mine, who loved to do his stews in his slow cooker. I must admit I did enjoy the ones he cooked.
More recently I found a small slow cooker at the charity shop, that I volunteer at, and snapped it up. I was regularly doing my current partners favourite meal of Sausage Casserole in it. The drawback with this one was that it was too small and I tended to overfill it when cooking with it.
It was last Christmas that my mum came to the rescue. She got my brother to treat me to the Rival Crockpot, a slow cooker of 3.5L capacity with a clear lid and 3 heat settings; low, high and keep warm. It is in stainless steel with a black, removable cooking pot, a clear lid as I said and Oval in shape
I was delighted especially as mum had also bought...

This slow cooker is well worth the investment. You can put the ingredients in before going to work in the morning, turn it on, and come home to a freshly cooked dinner.
