Advantages Advantages Sound engine good body work

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive when new should a good value now

Okay. I got this on the employee discount scheme - it was rather overpriced in those days, purchased new in April 1997 - but it was and probably still is a good car to own. (See my other opinion on my current car - changed April 2000). I purchased it because I needed a reliable car with sufficient space for three growing children that was reasonably economical for a good price. The 620 SLDI gave me that, perhaps rather surprisingly. Yes, I got a hefty 35% discount off the standard price and it was a bit of a hybrid in that it was 1996 model with 1997 specs but being British racing green you ... more

    Advantages Advantages space,comfort,reliability,cost

    Disadvantages Disadvantages MPG,distributor failings

The first thing i will say about this car is that it is honda based. Honda as a car company are paramount when it comes to reliability. This car is no exception. Comfort levels are extremely high. Drive is smooth both in handling and gear change. Styling in my personal oppinion is still looking good even though these cars are starting to get a bit long in the tooth. A lot of these 620's that can be found second hand will have fairly high mileage as taxi drivers used to love them. This is my first 620 but i would definetly have another. They are very cheap to pick up and very reliable. Oh did i ... more

Advantages Advantages A luxury car that blends in

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Resale

Without doubt the very best car that I have ever owned. I picked my 620 up second hand, with 60,000 miles on the clock, and I might as well have been in a new car. Cream leather interior, petrol blue metallic exterior, the car was an absolute delight to look at. Get it, and the feeling got even better. The seats just hug you without pinching; the driving position can be tweaked to perfection thanks to the steering wheel and seat controls, and all of the controls are within easy reach without any stretching. Turn on the engine and you get a sublime purr, highly refined and easy on the ears, yet ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfortable, good equipment for age.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A few electrical problems, slow automatic gearbox.

I purchased my Rover 620 from a friend back in 2004. It was equipped with a few extras, such as leather seats, automatic gearbox, air conditioning. It was a very nice car indeed. There seemed to be a few electrical niggles which I experienced mainly in regards to the lights. I would often have to replace a headlight bulb, sometimes even once a month. However, I later discovered this was due to faulty wiring. The automatic gearbox isn't the fastest, and to be honest gear changes are quite slow, but fine if being driven sensibly. On automatic versions there is the option of "Sports Mode", which ... more

Advantages Advantages honda engine well reliable good looking car

Disadvantages Disadvantages no a/c or rear electric windows

brought bran new in 1994 this sophisticated looking beast is a fantastic cruiser. Never got around to servicing it after the freebys ran out but never had a problem. Inside is nice with 6 speaker stereo and electric sunroof but only electric front windows has the kids cursing. But the mechanics of it are the most impressive. 2.0 honda unit and Im ready to match many a boy racer hatchback. I covered 180000 miles and I decided to have it serviced to go on holiday. Should have had 3 cambelt changes in that time but didnt stop the 620 getting on. Im comming up to 200,000k soon and the baby is good ... more

Advantages Advantages very cheap to buy, lots of car for the money

Disadvantages Disadvantages niggly faults due to age

I bought this from a forecourt in Easter 03 for the princely sum of £3000. The similar age BMW 520 would've cost £7,000 so I thought I was getting a bargain. Leather seats, CD, remote locking, airbags, alloys, sunroof etc. Over the past 18 months all is well, the 2.3 engine is very quick next to 1.8 Vectras and the like, and the mpg is pretty respectable when you drive sensibly, but why buy a 2.3 to drive slowly? The worst thing is the bits that are going wrong, the electric windows jam, and the stereo mutes itself whenver a mobile phone is within 50 yards of the car. Small things in context ... more

    Advantages Advantages Economical, Reliable, Comfortable,

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor turning circle

your're smitten...I swapped my old Granada Scorpio for a Rover 620Si and have not regretted it since. I've had the car three years now, and the only thing that has needed to be done for M.O.T's is Brakes. She (sorry I call all my cars she) drives like I'm apart of her, and no matter where I want to go, or what the weather is like, she has never failed me. The "oh so easy" drive factor, and adaptability to the hill and dale roads in England, has never ceased to impress me of the Rovers handling. If you want a car that will get you noticed, this car has the "Jaguar Snob class factor" written all ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of chrome, attracts women

Disadvantages Disadvantages Smells of dead pigeon

It's very much a man's car, the Rover 620Si although I've found that ladies have no hesitation in climbing aboard for a smooth ride. Magnificent in its responses and truly an elite luxury car, I acquired mine for £695 from Grubb's Salvage of Penge having suffered a light offside frontal impact. The engine is marvellously responsive and the throbbing lump of 2.0-litre power up front is more than enough to see off many "Porsches" or "BMWs" or even the odd "Ferrari". All in, the Rover 620Si gets the thumbs up from me . The interior is like the top London gentlemens clubs except without the smell ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfortable cruiser with poke.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Side window electrics.

I wasnt sure when I first bought this car whether or not I liked it. I had to buy a car in a hurry and this bodily battered Rover was on sale via a mate of mine. I have had it over two years now, it has 140,000 + on the clock and just seems to get better. It doesnt drink oil, smell oily or any of the things you expect with a car of this age and mileage. I put the stereo in myself and the speakers are original and sound great. Its comfortable, quite fast,( I had a vectra 2.5 and i bet this would give it a run for its money), handles great and cruises at the legal limit, purring. I admit the ... more
