...by pointing out exactly what Royal Mail Recorded Delivery 1st/2nd class is. It is NOT a tracked parcel service where items are tracked throughout. It is a standard postal service, and items sent using it just go in with the normal post. They are just as likely to get lost and normal items and are only insured up to £32, the same as normal letters and parcels. The only difference is that for the extra 68p you get proof of delivery, which may be useful ...

This is an area that really annoys me. Royal Mail signed for 1st / 2nd class is a rip-off. You pay more money for this service but you are still only insured for £34 pounds.(the price of 100 1st class stamps). You will get the same amount of cover if you ask for a "Proof of posting certificate", which is absolutely free and can be obtained at the post office counter when you send your item. When "signed for mail" gets lost Royal Mail have no way of telling you where your item got to before it got lost. So save your money and stop these monkeys getting rich off of your backs. ...
