A posties view on Royal Mail!!!

AdvantagesDeliver to most Destinations in uk the next day (if first class)

DisadvantagesSome mail lost or tampered with!!!

"...with a few pointers on Royal Mail and its staff from someone that works in the network. First of all a day in the life of a postman: A postman starts his day at half five in the morning when he arrives at work the goes onto whats called group sorting where he sorts all mail for his delivery area into various walks. This can be anywhere between 15 and 40 different walks. He completes this in about 30-45 minutes depending on the amount of mail ..." Read review

Deliver us from evil Review with images

AdvantagesRoyal protection

DisadvantagesSlow

"...looks like the end for royal protected mail. People may sneer at the royals but you very rarely see a vandalized post box with that royal crest on. You do, however, see tons of smashed up bus shelters and phone boxes. The problem with the Post Office today is the employees want to save their jobs and not their business. If there's no business there are no jobs guys. Itís as simple as that. I'm not saying the workers are idiots or anything by going ..." Read review

Ebays best friend

Advantagesfast delivery times, friendly postmen

Disadvantagesitems get lost/stolen

"...and sound to their destination. Royal Mail provides this service - but not 100% of the time. WHEN DID ROYAL MAIL START? In 1635, King Charles I opened Royal Mail to the public. Letters would be delivered to the recipient by a post-boy on a horse back and fore across the country and the recipient would have to pay the delivery charge (at the time 2d = 0.8p). In 1661 the first postal stamps were invented, to stop the post-boys delaying the mail. ..." Read review

What would I do without Postwatch?

AdvantagesMy sweet young postgirl, they deliver most days

DisadvantagesLost mail, customer services

"...to have a go at Royal Mail, the daily newspapers do it constantly but to be honest they do manage to deliver my mail most days in rain, snow & sunshine. However two little true stories do make you look at Royal Mail through a different light. This time last year over a period of six weeks, six different items sent to my home went missing. Two replacement credit cards, one cheque book, £30 of gift vouchers & two items from work all went missing. ..." Read review

26Mile Round Trip To Collect A Parcel Isn't A Local Service

AdvantagesCollect your parcel

DisadvantagesOutside waiting, No time given, Bad opening hours

"...reviews complaining about the service Royal Mail provides probably largely outnumbers the amount of reviews praising the service. However thatís life. Unfortunately my shortish review will only add to the number of problems Royal Mail appears to be having with its customer service and shortage of open depots. I live in a small town which has seen a number of services decrease over the past 12 months. Noticeably Royal Mail was the first to close ..." Read review

THE ONLINE AUCTIONEER'S BEST FRIEND

AdvantagesCheap, wide range of services, national coverage

DisadvantagesLack of support for online retailers - big difference between standard and recorded mail

"...If you mention the words Royal and Mail in the same sentence to the average Briton, you will be sure of a vociferous reply along the lines of, “Don’t talk to me about them!” Personally, I find much of this criticism to be unfair – my experiences of the postal service in the UK have been nothing but positive and I firmly believe that you still get excellent value for money, given that you can send a standard letter for 27p. This ..." Read review

"...how much we rely on Royal Mail as one of our primary communication tools. Yes I have Internet access, multiple email accounts, a home telephone, a work telephone and a mobile phone but still I often communicate by post, always using the Royal Mail. Why? Because its an easy to use reliable service which charges little considering what you get for your money. ~~~ Deliveries ~~~ Every day I actually look forward to the postman delivering my mail. ..." Royal Mail - Currently In A Strike Period!

AdvantagesPrint Postage Online

DisadvantagesCurrently On Strike

"Royal Mail is the UK's number one postal service, infact many people aren't even aware that other postal companies even exist. So you'd expect them to be pretty good at what they do, to fight of all the competition? Well actually no, there service is pretty poor at times. Unfortunately we are stuck in a position now whereby Royal Mail is so well established that it would be hard for any other companies to compete. In this review I will only talk about ..." Read review

Royal Mail: I'll send another claim form out!

AdvantagesConvenient and easy to use

DisadvantagesNo guarentee your item will arrive

"...have always sent them by royal mail registered post or by their special delivery service. Until recently there have been very few problems but over the past few months the deterioration in both of these services has been startling and as a result I have been forced to consider alternative despatch methods, something which just 12 months ago would have been unthinkable. I have decided to write this review because I wonder if any other ciao readers ..." Read review

Peace of mind.

AdvantagesNext day by noon.

DisadvantagesNone for us.

"...6 Special Delivery items by Royal Mail every week. Not one has gone astray or failed to reach it`s destination by the specified guaranteed delivery date! I know that many people have had problems with the post but in our experience we have absolutely no complaints over this particular service. It has proved invaluable in our estimation. I really have no knowledge as to why some customers of this service have experienced problems but it might be ..." Read review

has the Royal Mail lost its crown

Advantagesimportant service

Disadvantagesdecline in standards

"...place. I have complained to the Royal Mail customer services on two occasions.I have to say that the people who handle such calls were very polite and I did receive a letter(together with a free book of first class stamps)very promptly both times. On the first occasion I complained, they were very apolagetic and took the time to explain to me the severe staffing problems they were experiencing. However the misdirected mail continued to arrive ..." "...too happy to slate the Royal Mail and its services and how those service let you down from time to time, but hang on a cotton pickin' moment ..spare a thought for those good folk at the end of the service, or the front line depending on your point of view....Yup the good old Postie.... They have it cushy don't they..or I couldn't get up that time of the morning...or i wouldn't mind finishing at 1100 in the morning..these are the sort of comments ..." Read review

Happy Birthday Royal Mail, Or Not...

AdvantagesWide range of services available, usually efficient, good way of communicating, relatively cheap

DisadvantagesItems being lost or stolen, harsh employers

"...Along with the form from Royal Mail, there was another birthday card, this time with a deliberately torn corner – just enough to see there was nothing worth stealing! This time, it was from my Aunt and thankfully was only a card, as she is sending a present next week. The postwoman had noticed this and was very sympathetic. The card was in a see-through Royal Mail bag this time, apologising for it being damaged in transit. But it wasn't ..." Read review

Playing Monopoly

AdvantagesHas 100% UK coverage, non-price descriminatory

DisadvantagesDropping service, no competition in the sector.

"...people who dont know who royal mail are ad even fewer who have never sent or recieved a letter. Perhaps its the recent drop in service levels that has caused the latest uproar but its about time something was done. THE SERVICE: The post office delivers letters to any destination in the UK and abroad. It has 100% UK coverage and will ship it to another country providing you use an airmail stamp. The theory states that if you buy a first class ..." Read review

ROYAL MAIL - 1ST CLASS COST, 3RD CLASS SERVICE

AdvantagesNationwide service

DisadvantagesDelivery service very poor

"...the run up to Christmas, Royal Mail were having delivery problems in the Bristol area, returning items to it's depot due to not being able to deliver items due to the fact that they were unable to get answers at the relevant addresses to be able to deliver signed for letters and packages. This caused big queues at the delivery offices, and huge backlogs. Just after Christmas, Royal Mail indicated that the problems had been sorted out. Unfortunately, ..." Read review
