Rummikub was developed by a dude called ‘Ephraim Hertzano’ in the early thirties. Initially the rummikub sets were hand made in Hertzano’s backyard, by his immediate family. It was sold door to door in the early fifties; small shops had to be convinced to sell the game. This resulted in a slow but steady growth in the popularity of rummikub.
Today Rummikub is the third best selling game in the world. It is sold in 52 countries and is printed in 25 ...

...he had managed to make Rummikub into a worldwide game sold in 48 countries and printed in 24 different languages, not bad for a game made in a small workshop!
CONTENTS
The game consists of 106 tiles numbered 1-13 in four different colours and two sets of each colour, blue, red black and yellow you also have two jokers. The tiles are cream in colour and rectangle in shape. They are quite sturdy and measure 3.75 cm x 2.75cm they feel quite nice ...

Advantages: Number game for age 8 to adult that is fun. Disadvantages: Can get nasty, if you like being vindictive!
...banned by some religions but Rummikub is considered to be OK because there are no images of kings and queens only numbered tiles. It was developed by Ephraim Hertzano in the early 1930’s.

It is a tile Rummy game which is played world wide. The object of the game is to dispose all of the tiles in your rack, and gain a high score. It is based on a card game, where the cards are drawn from a pile and laid down in sequences or triples.

...round off the evening well. Rummikub is a good game for this, particularly if you like playing cards but want an alternative.
Rummikub is a cross between the traditional card game rummy and tile games such as Mahjong. It is a game for between two and four players and is suitable for the age of eight upwards.
Before starting the game you have to make sure that all 106 tiles are face down on the table. These tiles are made uo of the numbers one ...

Advantages: Enjoyable, some luck and some careful skill, can be played by people of all ages Disadvantages: The regular version is rather expensive to buy for a simple set of tiles
...had the travel version of Rummikub for a couple of years before discovering how to play. Somehow the instructions seemed complicated, and the tiles - two full sets of numbers from 1 to 13 in four colours - looked a bit dull.
Then we learned to play at a friend's house. The rules are simple: each player takes 14 tiles, and tries to arrange them into sets of at least three tiles: runs (such as 4-5-6) in a single colour, or groups (eg three 7s) in ...

Advantages: Lots of fun Disadvantages: Can be difficult for younger players to get the hang of.
I was very surprised when out shopping for Christmas presents for my children to see this game in a toy shop as i thought that it wasn't made any more. I played this game all this time with my friend almost 20 years ago (I'm showing my age now). I would go down to her house where we would sit and play game after game. Needless to say that i loved it. So i was more than happy to buy this for my 12 year old son as one of his Christmas presents and at ...

Rummikub.

I bought this game for around about £11 in October 2007 from Tesco, and have not looked back since! It's available at around about the same price as when I bought it (slightly more at £14.97) and as games go, it's relatively cheap.

The game can be played officially by up to four players, but that is only because that ...

Advantages: Good family game, don't need to be good at maths Disadvantages: Expensive for what it is
I bought our Rummikub for £19.99, I think, about 18 months ago from WH Smith's. It's still regularly stocked there but you can get it cheaper elsewhere or even second hand from ebay. A quick search has it at £14.99 at Toys R Us, but out of stock at present (7/2/04).
The game comes in a green box, approx 38cm by 24cm and is described as 'The Numbers Strategy Game That's Never The Same'. The manufacturers are Tomy.
The box suggests 2 to 4 players, ...

Advantages: Great game, involves some strategy Disadvantages: Can get addictive
I was introduced to this game when I was 9 and on holiday with my parents. I have failed to find a better game since. The rules are simple and quick to learn, but the game can take forever, depending on how many players there are and who you are playing with. The great thing about it is that, although much depends on luck, given a half decent hand, there is often a way to put your numbers down by fiddling with numbers that have already been put down ...

...game, RUMMIKUB. ~~~~~
The object of RUMMIKUB is to get rid of all your cards/tiles to win the round. But there is also a score that is kept and high score wins the game. So a player must be clever to win quickly, getting rid of all his cards and amassing his opponent's total leftover card points to boost his points. In a mixture of Gin Rummy + Dominoes, RUMMIKUB will hold your attention and make you want to play again and again. ~~~~~

Advantages: Enormous fun Disadvantages: Requires considerable thought
This game is highly enjoyable, but also requires a lot of thought. The basic principles are that players have collections of tiles, numbered from 1 to 13 and in one of four colours. These tiles need to be placed on the table in groups of three or more tiles, either of runs of the same colour or groups of the same number but different colours. Tiles can be added to groups already on the table, or groups can be split up and recombined, just so long ...

Advantages: Extra excitement of UNO Disadvantages: Not easy to find.
I agree that Rummikub is a good game. What makes it interesting is that you can move melds around and plan your move instead of just waiting for your move. However, I discovered recently UNO-Rummi-up which combines all the interest of Rummikub with the speed and excitement of UNO.
You get Reverse, Skip, take, and the wild cards of UNO in a tile game. The play is essentially the same as Rummikub but being able to force a player to pick up tiles or ...
