5 Stars My Sony Vaio Review with images 04/10/2010

Advantages Advantages Speedy, Reliant and Stylish

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Model: Sony Vaio VGN NW20EF Laptop Colour: Silver Price: I paid £472.00, prices may differ from store to store. The Sony Vaio VGN NW20EF Laptop is available in three different colours; pink, white and silver. I opted for the silver design, as it's a classic in my opinion and a colour which wouldn't date too quickly. The first thing which attracted me to the Laptop was the appearance, it as a rigid feel to the outer case with it's brushed aluminum casing which makes it look more expensive. The keyboard is designed like a scrabble style keyboard, very sleek and stylish. The Laptop is comfortable ... more

Advantages Advantages Aesthetically pleasing, great features, fast, 2 year warantee included

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life is awful, random flickering of the screen.

I bought this lovely laptop for my university studies just before the end of September, Sony Online had a promotional offer on whereby the 17.3" model was actually cheaper than the 15.5" model. So I opted to choose the larger sized screen as at the time i wasnt planning on buying a tv and thought it would be great for watching films and catch up tv. Both of these are great to do so on the larger screen, which is crisp and vibrant in colour with a display of1600 x 900. The only downside I have noticed with buying the bigger screen size is the distinct lack of attractive laptop cases catering ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, large RAM & memory capacity, windows 7, constant updates and rebuilds.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Flat keyboard can make fingers hurt a little, disk tray can be difficult to use at first.

After going PC shopping today the Sony Vaio VGN-NW20EF/S was the laptop of my choice. Upon setting the laptop up and using it, i noticed the speed was amazingly fast - there were only about 3 occasions when i seen an eggtimer and even they were for short periods of time. The laptop itself comes preinstalled with Windows 7 which is not my first choice since i have been using Vista mainly but i've learned the ins and outs of it after a few hours of experimentation. The customisability is beyond belief, everything from your boot screen image to your browser colours can be completely modified ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful Machine, Great Build Quality, Up to date Operating System

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dust Trap Keyboard, Limited gaming performance

Sony have been my preferred laptop manufacturer since I switched from my MacBook 4 years ago. Their offerings all share the same features: Excellent quality, top notch customer support, and a good range of packaged software. This example has all of the aforementioned attributes. The startup is painless and the x-black screen looks polished and has great definition from a range of viewing angles and under most lighting conditions. It performs especially well in bright light compared to other, similar priced offerings on the market. Windows 7 comes as standard which is a real plus. The touchpad ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks great, Easy to set-up and use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer care needs improvement, Finger pad sticks.

I have to start by admitting that this laptop was not my 1st choice, but now I love it. This is my main pc as home and I use it mainly for downloading music/movies/pictures, browsing the internet, shopping and networking. For me it runs like a dream, fast downloads, easy to navigate and simple to use. The only irritating thing I have discovered with this laptop is the keypad. It's fine if you are using for short periods of time only, but if I have been using for a while it starts to stick. Not a major problem, but irritating if you are in the middle of something. I originally ordered a ... more

Advantages Advantages Reliability, build quality, screen clarity, price, huge hard drive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of built-in graphics

Had this for about two months now and it is a very good laptop. It stands apart from other laptop manufacturers due to it's X-Black screen - crisp and clear and easy to clean (with screen wipes) without dulling the screen. Not recommended for heavy duty games however as it has shared graphics on board which mean that part of the system memory is used to run the graphics therefore detracting from the memory available to the system itself. Build quality is excellent as is usual with Sony products. Performance is good and features such as the fast web access enhance its usability. Also comes with ... more

Advantages Advantages The light weight, responsiveness, stylish look.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None discovered as yet.

This Sony Vaio is a great all-round laptop for someone on a budget. For just £500 this laptop has offered me alot. The speed and responsiveness is quite incredible considering the price, and has not crashed in 5 months, which is longer than any of my previous laptops have manager. The laptop also has a stylish look, which gives it a look of quality, and in contrast to the Dell, Toshiba, or other popular laptop brand, makes me, as the user, feel as though I'm using a very top of the range piece of tech. The lightness of the machine is also a key factor in buying the Sony. As a student i have to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Multimedia

    Disadvantages Disadvantages little bit slow

Wonderful performance, with a little bit delay in system loading. Wonderful screen resolution, and high quality of sound. It is very useful to integrate your multimedia devices with your PC, play games, and watch movies. You can also have some hard work tasks, and processing. Screen resolution is fabulous, as if you are watching a real TV. Load your multimedia files directly from the memory card reader. Mouse touch pad is good as well. Keyboard is comfortable. Batter life is durable, and can work without always being afraid of losing your work, when you don not have your charger available ... more

Advantages Advantages stylish, fast and light

Disadvantages Disadvantages all the gumph you get on the laptop

This is a very a stylish, light weight laptop. The one touch web button is so handy as well, it realy is fast. The windows 7 home premium is like vista on steroids, its that fas, allthough it does take about 20 gb of hard drive but with 320gb of hard drive it hardly dents it. The built in webcam is again almost real time graphics as you speak youre lips move, not two minuets later. The software you get you get with the webcam is very good as well. The only thing i find with any new laptop is all the stuff they put on it like the office 2007 very nice, but only for 60 days, after spending £500 ... more

Advantages Advantages good size hard drive, stylish, portable

Disadvantages Disadvantages gets quite warm on your lap

Ive been using this laptop for around 6 months now and in fairness to sony i cant find a downside to it. Its a nice compact design which is in my opinion very stylish, its easy on the eye and makes a nice change to a lot of the others on the market. I have two young children and one using it regularly for homework ang games and loves using it the other is very young and is constantly pulling it all over the place its very durable. I especially like the keyboard layout with them reasonably flush to the surface with a good space between each key its very easy to wipe over and you dont get bits ... more
