...the Playstation2. (PS2). SSX stands for Snowboard Super Cross. We had actually played it at a friend’s house some time back. I was finding it hard to pick a game that my hubby would like, as it is too easy to get drawn into finding something I would prefer! However, I knew this game was a safe bet, and even better, I had liked what I saw of it too. The game was one of the first games launched for the PS2, and retailed for about £44.99 at the time, ... ...that is well worth the money, when compared to some that are out there. There is a follow up called SSX Tricky, which we have had a loan of for a few days, and which looks equally good and retails for the same price.
Happy Snowboarding!

...Tournament and Ridge Racer V. SSX simply blew the competition off the snow and reached the number one sales spot sometime after the launch. Not bad for a little known or hyped title, and it has been selling well ever since. Along with Timesplitters, SSX was hailed as one of the great launch games and rightly so. Advantages: Very enojoyable, hugely playable, great graphics Disadvantages: Limited replay value
SSX was, for a lot of people, their first game for the PS2. I lagged behind though, having seen that one of my friends got hold of a copy I thought that I should get other games and simply borrow SSX. That didn't work out either, so I've only recently managed to play the game in any great depth after acquiring a copy on the cheap through eBay. The game may be old now, but it's more than well equipped to compete with the current ones.
Essentially ... ...In terms of gameplay, SSX is infinitely enjoyable, with the replay value very high. There's no loss of interest once you've completely mastered the game, in fact it is more of a joy to play when you execute an absolutely perfect run or beat your best showoff scores. The multiplayer may well last you the entire life of your console, not that you'll be playing it consistently forever, but you're likely to keep coming back to it from time to time.

...control scheme of that game, SSX is very different. Gone is the flip, grind and grab system, and instead we get an intuitive "Prewind" system which, while seeming very odd at first, seems as natural as anything once you've mastered it.
To put it briefly, lets say you're approaching a jump. You line yourself up at the angle you want, and hold down "X" to crouch down. Once you're crouching you cannot turn your boarder - instead, holding a direction ... ...this is one thing about SSX - if you want to have any hope of winning any races after the begginners course, you NEED to practice. You need to do each course again and again untill you know every single shortcut and know the whole course off by heart, otherwise the CPU players will tear you apart every time. In this sense, the learning curve is odd, because on the one hand you'll grasp the basic mechanics in a few hours, but you'll be playing a long ...

SSX for those of you who don't know, stands for snowboard supercross, I think. Anyway this is not very important except that I have just told you it is a snowboarding game-no don't go away. SSX (Snowboard Super-Cross) is a snowboarding game in the same mould as CoolBoarders and 1080 Snowboarding, although SSX takes the idea to the next level.

...INTRO SSX is one of the launch day titles for the playstation2. Therefore should be a fair representation of a 1st generation game. If this is so all I can say is: “Daaaamn, if this is 1st generation, what the heck are they gonna look like in a couple of years time ?!!” The visuals in this game are nothing but incredible. ...launched with the Playstation 2, SSX is definitely the best of the bunch. Both hardcore gamers and newbies will be able to pick up this game and enjoy it as much as I did. Graphically, SSX is close to perfection. Although the PS2 is criticized for not having the ability to handle anti-aliasing well, the graphics in SSX don't show too much jaggies. Welcome to SSX (to SSX, to SSX), and as the start up sounds off you already get the feeling that the PlayStation 2 is going to perform some pretty impressive sound effects over time – already so soon, SSX demonstrates the superb sound quality that the PlayStation 2 really does posses – you should know by now that the ‘Dolby Digital’ sign on the PlayStation 2 does actually stand for something. It’s not perfect though, and if you want to know a little bit more about the game then read on! Well I’ll be darned. SSX is, without a doubt, the best PS2 launch game. It makes great use of the PS2’s power to create a terrific game. Not only that, but it’s probably the best snowboarding game ever (even though more than half of the snowboarding games out now suck). If you’re looking for a game for your shiny new PS2, don’t hesitate to buy SSX (which I believe stands for Snowboarding Supercross Express). First off, ... ...out there, the characters in SSX don’t act like cardboard cutouts. They actually act like human beings (YAY!). Whoopie! They bend and fall realistically, and if they are just barely about to land a trick or something like that, their arms start flailing, ...

I recently purchased a Playstation 2 for my husband (I couldn't take any more of the whinging!) and along with it purchased SSX: Snowboard Super-cross. The first thing I thought was that the graphics on this game were incredibly good. Not to the extent that it looks like you're watching a DVD, but still good.
The main objective is to finish first in the race, but if you do "tricks", like spinning in mid-air and so on, you get points and your adrenaline ... ...a speed boost. The courses are quite long, one of them is about six minutes long, and they have lots of off-track courses and secrets hidden in them. It is difficult to get the hang of steering, jumping and landing, but when you get the hang of it, it's even more enjoyable, plus there's the added advantage of pushing over other snowboarders along the way!
It is quite an addictive game, you always want to know how you did that in the last game, or ...
