A good car... if you're lucky

AdvantagesGreat design, adequate space, great systems

DisadvantagesReliability, dealer network, support when things go wrong

"...a special deal on a Saab 9-5 Estate. It was good. The leather seats were very comfortable, the drive was excellent, the audio system played very well, the design was sleek, the boot was plenty big enough, the trim was good. It was a perfect family car. Until, one day, after a year or so, the car refused to go into reverse. The gearstick stuck - it had to be forced into gear. This is what you would expect on an old Mini, not on an expensive high-quality ..." Read review

An excellent car all round.

AdvantagesFast, comfortable, stylish, a dream to drive.

DisadvantagesNone really - except it could possibly look better.

"...have been driving a new Saab 95 2.0t estate for several weeks now as a replacement for my Audi A4 which is in the garage for repairs with no estimated fix time (but that is the subject of another review). However, being an Audi owner gives be a good basis for comparison. What I have to say is that this car is a dream to drive. Great fun, great value

AdvantagesPerformance, quality, great seats, value for money

DisadvantagesNot up to BMW standards of ride, handling and refinement

"I had never owned a Saab, and intended buying a BMW 5-Series when I swapped my car (from a Merc E300D) in March 2000. What changed my mind? I decided to buy abroad and found I could get much better discounts with much shorter lead times on Saabs than BMWs (or Mercs or Audis). I saved £8,500 on the best price my local dealer would give me for a 9-5 Aero Estate and the car was ready in 6 weeks. Check out the price of options - some, notably heated ..." Read review

BIg Car in every way

AdvantagesWonderfully comfortable, huge carrying capacity, safe

DisadvantagesExpensive to own

"...but we much prefer the Saab as a package (although if there is a production car more fun to drive than an Alfa I have yet to drive it) The downside is that they are not fuel efficient and routine servicing and spares is expensive ( a set of new front tyres from a discounter was £260). They are supremely comfortable for long trips. I can do 250 miles without stopping, have a meeting, get straight back in the car and do another 250 miles non-stop ..." Read review
