Advantages Advantages Comfortable, supposedly reliable, cheap 2nd hand

Disadvantages Disadvantages Unreliable, boring to drive, expensive to fix

Bought a 1998 Saab 9-5 with 90k miles and FSSH, expecting a few years of cheap motoring. The car has good specification inc. leather, climate control, electric windows, heated seat etc. Very good on motorways, comfotable seats and plenty of space. Until the failures it was a safe and comfortable car to own. The bad news is that despite maintaining a full service record, within 5k the Turbo blew which was £1200 to repair at Saab and 2 year later the big end bearing has gone (apparently quite a common failure). This is much more expensive as the engine needs replacing. The SID panel on the ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfortable and good control. (Great safety.)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as good for money

This is an Estate car. They are about £22,000 new or £16,000 for a 2nd hand 10,000 milage car. It has many features such as cruise control and SIPS (Side Impact Protection Safety.) Sweden, (from my point of view) make excellent quality cars. You can get bottom warmers installed but that is a tiny bit more expensive. The 9-5 2.0t, is a very powerful car, and before we bought it, we pushed it to the limits, and it did very well. It's gearbox is full automated and it has stereo controls on the steering wheel! Inner design is not over the top (OTT), it is an executive style. It is about 1.20metres ... more

Advantages Advantages 5 Door saloon that does exactly what it says it will

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Air con

This is my first Saab and happens to be a company car. I had a Vectra before and expected to miss it, not a bit of it. Though the Saab hasn't got the koudos of a BMW or a Merc nor the street cred of the new Lexus or Jag I am more than happy driving it. A round trip of 110 miles 5 days a week and the miles start to add up. The first 15000 have been entirely trouble free. The ride is smooth the gearbox refined and the engine responsive,I am very confident of the cars handling in both wet and dry (not tried snow yet). As stated it is a company car so I've no idea about service/parts costs sorry ... more

    Advantages Advantages safe and reliable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages costly to run

As soon as door thuds shut in this Saab you feel you are sitting in something solid and secure. I wanted a vehicle that I could transport a young family in and feel safe, I wanted a car that was reliable and would go where I wanted it to go, I wanted a car that was comfortable to sit in on long journeys - the 9.5 fits all of these requirements. OK so it will not win any fashion awards, the car's fuel consumption isn't the best, insurance can be on the high side and the basic price of a Saab is high - but it's still the car for me. ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfy and spacious in the inside.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It may be a bit fast for some.

This car is very spacious and comfy. It has climate control which i love, another good thing in a car is the cd player is in the front. It makes you feel like royalty as soon as you get in with an armrest and three cup holders. It is a perfect family car for long and short journeys because it goes so smoothly along the road.It has a very large boot space which is also very good if you are bringing a lot of luggage.Of course it doesn't have to be a family car, it is also very speedy and looks very good in every colour there is.I absolutely love this car and would choose it over any saab any day ... more
