I use Saccla sauces fairly often. The other day I bought a Saccla sun dried tomato pesto sauce from Tesco's it costs £1.77p for the 190g jar.. The glass jars I think quite attractive and the fillings delicious. Saccla is an Italian company first established in Asti just before the Second World War. Saccla makes many pesto or tomato products available in most supermarkets. I get home from the shops after an exhausting day at work wanting to spend little time and energy making the evening meal, So I put the shopping away. Put a pan of pasta on to cook. And twists open the gold lid on the jar of ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastes like real Italian Pesto, strong

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little oily

I am a big pasta fan as it's quick and easy to make in the evening but recently got bored with the usual tomato sauce such as Dolmio that I usually put over my pasta so set out to Sainsburys to find a new sauce when I came across these great pesto sauces from Sacla. They were only £1.39 a jar so I decided to try the sundried tomato one to begin with although they do come in ten other flavours: Classic Pesto Organic Green Pesto Organic Tomato Pesto Roasted Red pepper Pesto Wild rocket pesto Pesto Alla Genovese Italian Fennel Pesto Creamy vine ripened Char-grilled aubergine Coriander Pesto ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick to use, tasty!

Disadvantages Disadvantages none... except obviously it contains loads of cheap ingredients.

OVERVIEW If only this had been around when I was a student... sigh. This lovely sundried tomato pesto is ready to be stirred into your choice of boilt pasta, or can even be used as a base for salad dressing if you so wish. I'm not a big fan of shortcuts in cooking, but this one has me won over. USE To use, simply add a couple of spoonfuls of pesto to your pasta after boiling and draining, stir in and serve. Goes well with cold pasta salads in the summer; toss cool pesto'ed pasta with mozarrella chunks, grilled mushrooms, garlic and chicken pieces and have a whole meal. Can also be used to ... more

    Advantages Advantages The taste!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the healthiest of products!

I find sacla sundried tomato pesto an absolute godsend. Apart from their standard original pesto, I struggle to find a more versatile sauce/paste. The pesto is highly aromatic, with a rich, mouth-watering taste. How I use it: To enjoy the taste of the Sacla sauce, one can simply stir it through pasta. However, for a heartier and fulfilling meal, I always find it useful to pan fry and season some sliced chicken breast and add this to the mixture, along with a handful of chopped black olives. For approximately half a kilogram of pasta, I use a third to a half of a 190g jar. You can also use the ... more

Advantages Advantages A taste of Italy from the jar

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is finished so quickly

This product is something I always like to keep a jar of handy in the fridge or cupboard "just in case". It has a good taste of sun-dried tomatoes with that little extra something from the pinenuts. Quite a reasonable proportion of olive oil present, though of course if one was Nigella enough to make one's own, you'd probably use all olive oil and no plain old vegetable oil! But who cares really? It is so great for adding a couple of spoons to a steaming bowl of cooked pasta for a quick and tasty meal and also for one of my little indulgences, which is to get some of these half-baked ciabatta ... more
