Sainsbury's Should Stick To selling Food

Advantages: Great Idea, Finds Cheepest Tariff, Free Phone
Disadvantages: Badly Organised, Direct debits Don't Go On Time, Don't Always Get Your Bill

I am so glad that this category exists as I have to tell you a story about Sainsbury’s Mobile. This has to be the best idea and unfortunately the worst mistake you could ever make. Here is the story….. CHAPTER 1 Some time ago there lived a young girl (ok then, not so young) who had many a mobile phone and could always pride herself in the fact that she got the best bargains. She always new where you could get a free DVD player or Gameboy Advance ...
...her friends and they would worship the mighty bargain hunter for her valuable advice. One day she received a letter from Sainbury’s Mobile, she had been chosen! Chosen to receive a free Nokia 3310. The heavens must have been smiling down at her as her existing contract was about to expire and she was in the market for a new phone. This offer was too good to be true it had no mention of any initial charges and promised that they would find her the ...

Sainsbury's Mobile - What's the point?

Advantages: Don't appear to be any. At all.
Disadvantages: Too many to mention.

...any trouble at all with Sainsbury's Mobile UNTIL THEY GOT TAKEN OVER BY CARPHONE WAREHOUSE!!! Until that point everything was mostly hunky-dory. Then they were taken over. Since then I've had trouble with my Direct Debits (of which I can't alter the date, unlike a standing order) - did you know that if you're originally a Sainsbury's Mobile customer and you have a problem that necessitates you paying your bill by some other method than DD that ...
...contract - think again where Sainsbury's Mobile is concerned (or Carphone Warehouse, or whatever they want to call themselves today - Mickey Mouses Brother, for all I know!). Sainsbury's really SHOULD have just stuck to supermarkets - at least they appeared to know what was going on there! UPDATE 28.02.04 - I got the 80-odd quid back eventually, but now they're saying there's another 60-odd quid that I've not paid them outstanding! Needless to ...

Sainsbury's mobile Bad service

Advantages: Good tariffs
Disadvantages: Very poor customer service and call Q Times

Well I have to start by saying that the idea that Sainsburys mobile has is a good one, I asoom that the company is dedicated to providing a good level of customer service, (that was not my case), it all started when I got an email inviting me to a free phone a Nokia 3310, not the greatest of phones may I add, so I ordered my free phone and placed a note on the order over there website could you please contact me to arrange an upgrade to the nokia ...
...are doing them for free!, well it was about 7 weeks later that a scruffy looking man turned up at my door with a parcel in his hands, so I signed for the parcel and proceed to open it, Well it was the phone that I ordered well the one they wanted me to have the nokia 3310 and not the 8310. I had forgot all about the order, as you get so much junk in your email inbox on a average day, but I was going to go and get a new phone that weekend, so I followed ...

Sainsbury's has the right answer

Advantages: A lot to gain, nothing to loose
Disadvantages: Scheme limited to BT Clelnet

...lists of complicated tariffs available, Sainsbury's has the answer. Sainsbury's has launched a new system. Using the BT Cellnet network it will automatically give you the cheapest bill. Each month, it analyses and compares your call pattern with every standard tariff form the four mobile phone networks and then bills you the cheapest tariff option. Connection is free and there is a wide range of handsets to choose from. If you have already a mobile ...
...analysed and compared with the prepaid tariffs. If one of these tariffs work out cheaper, the difference will be refunded as points on your Sainsbury's Reward Card. Just one point to make, you need to be a Sainsbury's Reward Card holder. Worth a try, don't you think?? ...

Avoid like the bubonic

Advantages: Ummm, can't think of any
Disadvantages: Is expensive and completely unreliable

Ever since Sainsbury's sold their mobile arm to Carphone warehouse (usually a decent operation) in 2003 it has been awful. Their administration is completely unreliable, the call handlers are under-trained. My first bill with them was miscalculated (four times higher than normal because they had switched me to the wrong tarriff and 10 months and at least nine calls later I am still waiting for them to recalculate it. It's like reinventing the wheel ...
...with us, we are not sainsbury's Mobile ,we are Carphone warehouse." I pointed out that the number i had reached him on was on an invoice headed Sainsbury's Mobile and he said it made no difference. I won't bore you with the rest. Sainsburys patently lost interest in operating in this field and the new owners bought their admin software down the market. Suffice to say I will be switching as soon as i can. ...
