Advantages Advantages Very tasty. Great piece of steak. Great pastry

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

At the moment I am on a healthy eating regime, but on occasions I like to indulge in something special. I went to Sainsburys the other day and whilst looking round I came across Sainsbury's Shortcrust Pastry Steak Pie, so I decided to buy it and give it a try. This is a pie for 3 people, but you can easily have it for 2 if so desired. It weighs 600 grams and can be found in the chilled section of Sainsbury's food stores. The cost of Sainsbury's Shortcrust Pastry Steak Pie is £2.99GBPeach, but when I bought this just before writing this review, there was an offer on. This offer was buy 2 for £5 ... more

Advantages Advantages Fills a gap in the wintertime

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite high in saturated fat

Steak and kidney has got to be one of the all-time winter warmers. This is a pre-prepared pie with plenty of meat and gravy inside a pastry crust and base, presented in a foil carton. Price wise, it is a cut above the ordinary steak and kidney pie, which are in the 50-60p range in the same supermarket. It definitely ... more

    Advantages Advantages Easy to make

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Little meat

Ok this product although not nutritional in a particular area does have some benefits. First it is incredibly easy to prepare all that is needed is to put it in the oven for about 30 mins. This makes it a quick option after a hard days work. The taste is ok although overly salty as is common with many pre-packed, ready prepared foods. The pastry itself is againg ok except the crust is a bit tough and flaky. The combination of the steak and the pastry is not bad, but not good either. What is must annoying however is the lack of meat in these pies. You get the occasional lump of steak floating ... more
