And what do points make....Prizes.

AdvantagesLots of places to get points, therefore your points add up quicker.

DisadvantagesWebsite doesn't work properly.

"...the Nectar card is a Sainsburys reward card, but it is also a Debenhams, Barclaycard and BP card as well, and therefore needs a separate category. *Sigh* For those of you that haven't heard, (which won't be many considering the amount of advertising they've done) Nectar is the new joint loyalty card from Sainsburys, BP, Barclaycard, and Debenhams. Basically all the points you get from each of these companies loyalty schemes get combined together ..." Read review

Is it a good bargain for the single shopper

AdvantagesIt has great bargains

DisadvantagesOnly if you have the vouchers

"Is the Sainsbury’s Reward Card worthwhile for the single shopper? Let me explain in more detail methinks!!! HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO I have a Sainsbury’s Reward Card it’s a wonderful thing! Every time I shop the cashier asks for my Reward Card after a shop and the card gets swiped. This way I accrue points from my shop and when I have enough points I will get a Voucher that entitles me to a bargain. YIPEE!!!!!! Sounds good doesn’t it? So ..." Read review

shopping can be rewarding

Advantagesfree goodies when you have enough points

Disadvantagesnone

"My Sainsburys card is one of the most ferequently used cards in my wallet and has been for the past 3 years, ever since i started shopping at the 'burys. The card offers 2 points in every pound with 2 points being worth 1p. Not a fantastic reward but i look at it like this - you have to go supermarket shopping, so it's great to get something back in return. And there are ways to really boost your points balance which i will come on to later.... So ..." Read review

Points mean prizes

AdvantagesEasy to get and to use

DisadvantagesHave to spend alot of money

""Another shop, another reward card" is a sentiment that crossed my mind when I first started shopping at my local Sainsbury’s. But when I looked closely this one seemed different. I could even say compelling. Sainsbury’s are a part of the nectar family. The nectar card is a whole new beast in the reward card market. Lots of different shops, all joining together, with the one reward card. The points collected can be cashed in for vouchers in any of ..." Read review

Cross my palm with orange plastic

AdvantagesSomething for nothing, versatile

DisadvantagesCan only claim in one nominated store

"...spend in Sainsburys, Savacentre or Sainsburys Petrol Stations you earn 2 reward points. Once you have accumulated 500 reward points, you can either deduct a "reward" from your bill (worth £2.50) or you can claim a reward voucher for use at a later date. In order to save and claim your reward points, you are issued with an orange Reward Card which contains a unique customer number, and a strip for your signature. Every Reward Card account is based ..." Read review

They take with one hand but give with the other

AdvantagesNo real cost, easy to obtain vouchers

DisadvantagesCould do to get a few more companies on board especially high street outlets since Burton group offer was recinded

"...you wouldn't normally consider bu Sainsburys reward scheme incorporates many well known brands on a weekly rotation. Best of all, quite often they tie the points schemes in with BOGOF or 2for1 offers so the customer gets to benefit twice! Once you have collected 500 points you can collect a voucher from the checkout which can either be redeemed against the shopping (it is worth £2.50, not a lot but it all adds up!) you have just bought or saved ..." Christmas can be paid for

AdvantagesGreat way of reducing your shopping bill

Disadvantagesdon't seem to be any

"...every pound spent at a Sainsburys group store. When you have 500 points you can either have £2.50 off your shopping, or you can take a voucher, which is worth different things in different shops. I personally use mine to buy clothes, in stores such as Evans and Principles, where it is worth £5 off any purchase over £25. You must use them against purchases in multiples of £25. Until recently you could actually use all your vouchers towards one purchase, ..." Read review

100 quid for free

AdvantagesGood for some people...

Disadvantages...Not for others!

"WHAT IS A SAINSBURYS REWARD CARD? A Reward Card is a plastic card, like a credit/debit card which you apply for in store. When you do your shopping, you hand over your card with your money and they swipe it, topping up your points according to how much you spend in store. When you reach the points level they give you a voucher which you can use in various ways. HOW MANY POINTS DO I GET FOR WHAT I SPEND? You used to get 1 point for every pound, ..." Read review

Nectar, the best has got better

AdvantagesEven more ways to spend your points

DisadvantagesA right pain having to send off your old card to transfer those points

"As a huge fan of Sainsburys reward card I have been waiting for the launch of its successor, the Nectar card. Today is the day! Since the launch of the original reward card, I have saved a small fortune. As I've always shopped in Sainsbury's the argument that you pay more in that particular store doesn't apply to me. And when it's a week before payday and the bank account is empty, those rewards are a godsend :) But onto Nectar. From the Sainsburys ..." Read review

Save more points and benefit highly

AdvantagesGet more out of shopping

Disadvantagesnil

"Sainsburys reward card was the name of their loyalty card that can be used in Sainsburys stores and petrol stations, and what a good card it was too. However, they now operate the NECTAR card. This new card has made the old Sainsburys reward card obselete, and the necatr card is used in its place. Like most other cards you present the card when you make your purchase and the points are added. Basically you get two points for each pound spent, ..." Read review

On the till receipt you get, your points received for that total transaction are shown. These points are then added to your previous total thus showing your total saving. Reward cards

AdvantagesYou can earn reward points faster

DisadvantagesHuge hassle to register online

"I am sure that most people will have seen the advertising campaign launching the new reward card Nectar either on TV, in newspapers on or billboards. The idea is a good one, in that the Nectar card allows you to collect points when you shop at Sainsburys, Debenhams, BP or use your Barclaycard anywhere else. Wouldn't it be great if there was only one reward card but we are unlikely to see that happen. Anyway, I duly picked up my new card, in fact ..." Read review
