Saks and the City

Advantages: Discount and attention to detail
Disadvantages: Lack of salon ambiance

...a free haircut. Hence, Saks opening in my home town and the promise of a 50% discount was more than enough to get me to make an appointment. ~ THE ROOTS ~ Established in 1974, there are now over 100 Saks salons throughout UK. All their staff have been trained at the Saks Academies so that they are up to date with all the latest innovations in hair and beauty treatments. Saks salons can also be found at David Lloyd Leisure and Health clubs in UK. ...
...women, most Saks branches offer beauty treatments (massage, botox injections, nail care, teeth whitening, hair reduction to name but a few). Saks also sell their own brand of styling accessories (called Saksessories) as well as gift vouchers and hairstyling products. ~ SHORT BACK AND SIDES ~ The salon in Chichester opened in November 2004 and is all newly installed and painted. It's incredibly spacious and very clean. However, it is rather stark ...

My hairs in bad condition what should I do?

Advantages: Was the best haircut I've had in months
Disadvantages: Abit pricey (esp if you do regular visits) No loyalty card scheme as yet

...this review is that of Saks Birmingham Temple Row and my experience as a first time customer there. I am a Saks virgin and have no idea what the others are like. It has no reflection on the company as a whole. ~Why Saks? ~ It was my sister's graduation today and I wanted to look my best. My hair hasn't been cut in 2 months and was getting out of condition. I was thinking about salons to go and for some reason this one popped into my head. I think ...
...dry your air. In Saks the whole visit took about 20 minutes. He didn't spend too much time with the blow drying and still managed to get results. Even my sister commented on the fact that "It's the best haircut you've had in a long time." In terms of his routine, he cuts then blow drys then cuts after blow drying if there's a need. ~The Price~ This is when it hit me home. I went to the till point and got a shock when the guy who served me said ...

Saks Magic!

Advantages: 'Free' alcohol while you're pampered!
Disadvantages: An appointment can involve an array of staff!

...have been attending my local Saks Hair and Beauty salon in Newcastle for about 5/6 years now. I first went there upon the recommendation of a close friend after I had a disasterous experience in my usual salon. The Saks price-tag was more than I had previously been used to paying, but I decided that maybe this was a case of 'paying for what you get' and so took the plunge. That and the fact I was informed they offer a range of wines and beers (along ...
...Background: Saks Hair and Beauty (they boast) is the UK's leading 'high street salon group'. Super Saks

Advantages: Talented stylists, attentive staff, location
Disadvantages: Pricey for some proceedures

...customer of the hairdressers at Saks Hair & Beauty in Cardiff, located centrally in St John Street behind the Queens Arcade & a stone's throw from the Queen St shopping area. Saks is a chain offering hair and beauty treatments, training academies and is also the hair and beauty partner presence in David Lloyd health/fitness clubs and is also nomintaed hairdresser to British Airways, so they come with a reputation for being good. Initially I just ...
...had a patch test from Saks even prior to my first ever appointment with them, if you are sensitive I would strongly recommend you insist on a patch test prior to your appoinment, hopefully you should be advised when you need to attend for this to be carried out. After the colouring process is carried out, I am normally left under a heater lamp for 20 minutes, this beeps when it is finished and then someone will relieve you of the lamp or increase ...

Didn't Cut It For Me I'm Afraid

Advantages: did colour well
Disadvantages: didn't give full attention

...some good discount vouchers for Saks I decided to go there as they have a good reputation. Saks is known as the UK's leading hair salon with them having won many awards in hairdressing. Saks also have hairdressing academies where they are training up many stylists. I know I had heard of them through their name being mentioned a lot in magazine and TV shows so this is what persuaded me to go to them, although I have never really lived near one of ...
...that was rushed. Saks don't just do hair they also do beauty treatments like waxing, massages, nails and so on. I don't know if I would go back to this salon though, mine was the Warrington one at David Lloyd, they did the colour well but as for not having the vouchers and paying full price for the service I don't feel I got the attention I paid for. I have been to other salons in Scotland where I have paid full price for and they have spent a lot ...

Initial prices I called my local Saks, and asked for an appointment for highlights, how much this would cost and if I had discount. Just don't even bother

Advantages: Nice products, Modern Salon
Disadvantages: Expensive, Rude Staff, Don't listen to customers

...new. I decided on Saks as it had a good reputation and I got 20% discount because of were I work. So I called up to book and got a appointment for a cut and colour, the next day I got a call to say it had been cancelled as they were short staffed. Great start! So I re-booked for the next week. I got to my appointment five minutes early and was asked to sit and wait for the person who would cut my hair. I was waiting 20 minutes before she finally ...
...darker). I have called Saks and complained but they said they are not willing to fix it for free or at a discounted rate. They said red fades quickly but I think two weeks is a bit extreme. As for the cut, they said I should have mentioned in when I was there, which is true so that is my fault really. I have now had to book another hair appointment at my usual salon for them to cut it how I wanted it and put in darker shades. Overall, I will never ...

Ten percent discount

Advantages: The prices are excellent
Disadvantages: A bit un-organised

...inside the premises there is Saks Hair and Beauty. I rang up on the Friday night and got an appointment for the Saturday morning which I thought was brilliant. I arrived at the salon and I was offered a drink and asked to wait in the waiting area, 5 minutes later I was being given a consultation from the stylist, who listened to every word I said and actually let me get a word in edgeways. My hair was washed, cut, highlighted and blowdried to ...
...pleased with the end result. I have a few disadvantages though, the staff seemed to be laughing amongst themselves a lot and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable, and it didnt portray a very professional environment. I was also given a ten percent discount as I was a member of David Lloyds, which was very unexpected, but I was complaining about it, My cut and colour and blowdry only came to £49, but I ended up spending an extra £30 on hair products. ...

admittedly very expensive but worth it!

Advantages: friendly staff, good cut & colour, listen to what I want
Disadvantages: so expensive, salons lack character & music in mine is awful!

I have been to saks once as a treat for my 20th birthday and then went again 4 months later because my roots really needed doing before my holiday and everywhere else was booked up. When I explained the situation and that I had been before the girl on the phone made a big effort to fit me in at the end of the day which was great. On my return visit I was remember by the girl who did my hair, she remembered pretty much everything I had told her about ...
...which impressed me a great deal. The girls in there are very young but very friendly and professional. The salons are a little lacking in character and the music seemed to be non stop dreadful dance music unfortunately. However that is really my only complaint. I felt relaxed and at ease, it wasn't too busy/crowded or so deserted it was peculiar either. The client mix ranged from a bloke in his 50s, to women in their 70s, teenage girls and mums with ...

Perfect for students!

Advantages: Free alcoholic drinks while you get a new hair do!Student discount
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive if you don't usually spend a lot of money on your hair

I went to Saks in York after a recommendation from a friend. Saks is also the nominated hair and beauty salon for David Lloyd Leisure and hair and beauty salons can be found in their clubs nationwide. Where can you find a Saks salon? Visit http://www.sakshairandbeauty.com/consumer/salon/salon.asp and click on the map! I had a cut and highlights and I was very pleased with the result. The products used were high quality leaving me with beautiful ...
...They then use GHD straighteners to finish. The staff are very friendly and take your coat and bag as soon as you walk in. You are offered any drink you like (I like to have a glass of white wine and relax while I have my hair done) so there is plenty of beer for men (it is a unisex salon) and nice wine for students to take advantage of! Prices do vary. I think it is about £30 for a cut and finish and £50 for half a head of highlights. You are also ...

Saks Worthing

Advantages: fairly good first experience
Disadvantages: Stylists don't listen to what you are asking for.

...decided to visit my local Saks (Worthing) having read some favourable reviews on the internet for other Saks salons. My first appointment was fairly successful......I took in a picture of the cut i wanted which my stylist copied very well and i had a tone gloss and shine which was fabulous, but when the shampooist led me back to my seat she informed she would also be drying my hair. I told her i wasn' happy with that as i had booked an appointment ...
...saying the problem was it was too heavy. The stylists there need to stop and listen to what the client is asking for instead of going ahead and cutting it in an inappropriate way because they are in a hurry. i certainly won't be using any Saks salons again......very disappointing! ...

Worth every penny!

Advantages: Attentive staff who listen to your requests
Disadvantages: Can be pricey!

...out and visit a nearby Saks salon (Kingston branch). The salon is situated in the David Lloyd leisure club. Although small, the salon itself was clean, modern and bright. I wanted a complete change of hair colour but didn't really know what I wanted. This is where my stylist really impressed me. Instead of talking vaguely about coffee and caramel highlights, she sat down with me and took me through loads of different colour charts, offering her ...
...While the stylist was working on my hair she was very friendly, chatting to me but also leaving me to read my magazines in peace rather than making conversation for the sake of it! All staff were attentive, ensuring that I always had a drink and a selection of magazines. I have to say the best part of the experience was provided by the girl who shampooed my hair - she gave me a fabulous and very relaxing head massage. I was also very impressed with ...

Advantages: Great hair cut, nice cuppa, Gift vouchers!
Disadvantages: Too expensive to go regularly

...a cut & finish at Saks in York. I was recommended to go to Kim, who has been there 11 years apparently. Saks in York is located upstairs above one of the posh frock shops in Davygate. When I got up there I had no idea it was so big! There were about 25 stations, an around one third were full. By the end of my visit, it was around two thrirds full. I was greeted by a cheerful receptionist who offered me a drink. (I had tea). I was shown to a seat ...
...i think she went to Saks straight from school, so no wonder she was a good hairdresser! Before she blowdried my hair, she gave me LOADS of advice on how to style my hair at home and what products they sold that would make it look gorgeous (don't they always). She also asked if I wanted product on, (no thanks) and what sort of style I wanted it drying in (I had it straightened). She was polite on leaving, and didn't push me into buying any products ...

Disadvantages: CAN BE EXPENSIVE

...way and had heard that Saks was located on a nearby high street. On entering I found that it was appointment only but they were very friendly and found a slot for me for two hours later. After two hours I re-entered and was met with the same friendly staff who promptly offered me a seat and something to drink. I was allocated a male stylist who gave me a thorough 'hair consultation'. Quick review of Saks Hair&Beauty Salon

I love Saks!! It's my fav place to get stuff done! My usual is Heston (South London) but I sometimes go to to the one in Fulham. Both places remember me when I go there and what hair cut I had last. The last time I went to the Heston brand Billy from Big Brother was there!! Their service is excellent aswell- giving me wine and giving tips on how ot keep my hair in good condition. I've recommeded the place to loads of my mates and family and they love it aswell...i think people should give it a go as its loads better than toni&guys who are a complete rip off and just treat people like walking cheques! ...
