Advantages: Great Blu ray playback and very cheap. Disadvantages: DVD playback is at best unreliable and at worst non existant
...This is now the fifth samsung device that has failed on me prematurely. previously I have a a DAB mini hifi which lasted just 9 months, a microwave which lasted a year, a mobile which never worked properly, a hard drive which also failed after a year and I am affraid that this will be the last time ever that I buy anything from this appalling make. My advice is don't touch this rubbish with a barge pole. Buy a Sony or Panasonic player. They may cost ...

Advantages: Crisp and clear picture quality (its a blu-ray!) Disadvantages: A long list of unplayable disc formats.
...use. My favorite thing is annoying the neighbours when it starts up! Its makes a very loud and sharp noise that goes "ding ding!" and the Samsung logo comes up on the screen. I got mine from Currys and it came with 2 free Blu-ray dvds, so thats a bonus! ...

Advantages: Looks great Disadvantages: You'll be lucky if it lasts long enough to watch one film
...speakers. Went on to the Samsung website and found there was a firmware update. Downloaded and attempted to apply it using a USB stick....no joy, tried the CD update method and again no joy. After 3 hours of fiddling I managed to get the network connection to work and the update downloaded, box rebooted......and.....still broken.
Contacted Samsung who initially tried to blame my Home cinema amp (considering the amp cost 4 times what the BD-P cost ... ...old!!!). Now I'm sure Samsung would have fixed this unit and sent it back, but, if I have an item for such a short period of time and it fails I'm not going to trust the build quality so this is going back to the shop for a refund and I'll be buying the Sony. ...
