The Samsung Digimax A4 is a well built, feature packed camera with an excellent picture quality and a very good battery life.
The camera has a 3X optical zoom and a very useful and useable 4X digital zoom. It has a Macro mode that can take clear and detailed pictures of objects ranging from 10-80cm's.
Short voice messages can be recorded with each picture taken, and the unit can record voice files for later play back on the camera or a PC.
The ... ...most windows based P.C.'s, and the quality of these video recordings can be set to 160 X 120 pixels, 320 X 240, or 640 X 480, and can be 15 or 24 frames per second. The camera can be paused whilst recording videos, and this has proven to be very useful.

Advantages: natural looking pictures Disadvantages: hard to take pics in the night mode
PRICE: I've only paid £85 for it at Argos.
I am really happy with this cam, it's great and the pictures look really good. The general uses of the camera (flash, timer, zoom, etc) are quite easy to find, and the menu makes most of the other features easy. But if you, like me, are not an expert, and want to use other features, like trimming, etc, you will have to read the manual. The only problem I've had with it is the night mode, as it doesn't matter ... ...be blurry, unless you use a tripod. But average people don't want to carry a tripod around, right?
I guess this is a common thing among all digital cameras, though. But this one, when the natural light isn't bright enough, switches automatically to the night mode, and I haven't still figured out how to do for it not to happen. The pictures look really good and natural either on the computer or printed.It´s a great purchase.

I was given advice by a friend about what to get for my first digital camera. Optical and digital zoom and 4.0 mega-pixel reslution. Oh, and a Samgsung if possible!
This camera fits all those options and more. It's a very friendly camera and easy to use (though I have a habbit of always reading the instructions for whatever I get!).
The viewfinder screen is very big, and most of the buttons are quite self explanitary too.
Like with most digital ... ...the 'take a picture' button and for the camera actually to take the picture is a bit slow. But not so much that it will make a difference unless I'm going to be a sports photographer!
It takes two AA batteries, which is also handy for ease of use. You can always get AA batteries everywhere you go, unlike specialist batteries. However, I'd recomend that you get some rechargable batteries. After a day of using the camera on and off again, the battery ...

...We finally settled on the Samsung Digimax A4. Great little camera. Quite light and compact. From Argos.
It has a 2 inch screen compared to most that are between 1.5-1.8 inch screens. Makes seeing the subjects a lot easier. Tripod can attached to bottom of camera.(table top tripod).
Power saving switch off function. Low power consumption, Flash with Redeye function. Usual refinements.
Auto picture taking function for those pictures when no one ... ...could not be simpler. Select the operation required (selector switch on top of camera) and press and hold shutter button down. Release button when you want to stop recording. Simple as that. To take more video repeat operation. If more than normal, a reasonably large memory card Is needed.
Has external speaker (on top of camera) to hear the audio during video playback. Built In microphone can also be used for taking messages. Messages can recorded ...
