Advantages Advantages Beautiful 4" screen, music player, video recorder, great for internet

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery takes an age to charge and would probably be better lasting longer

As upgrade time reared it’s head once more I decided it was just about time to forget about the low to mid range phones and cheaper contracts and go for something top of the range. While for many top of the range automatically equates to the iPhone, I’m a little different and have a huge dislike for the iconic Apple brand and was looking for something running the Android OS. With my previous three phones being Samsung, I felt it was best to stick to a brand I trusted and so I picked the Samsung Galaxy S2 as an upgrade from my Galaxy Europa. I received my phone free as part of a 24 month ... more

Advantages Advantages Amazing design, loads of apps, so quick

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite pricey but so what?

For a number of years now I have been a firm fan of Apple and their products, purchasing every iPhone that has been released including the iPhone 4. I am always amazed at them and never thought I could be persuaded into buying a different type of phone, but how wrong was I? My friend purchased this phone upon its release and had a difficult job getting me off it once she had it in hand. I am now in love! The Samsung Galaxy S II is the latest model of touchscreen smartphone that has been released by Samsung, having been developed from a slightly lower specification and older model, the Samsung ... more

Advantages Advantages Everything! So easy to use, does anything you want, lots of functions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price.. but no more than any other smartphone.

Well, I'll start my review by stating this is my first smartphone, so I can't compare to any I've actually owned before, though I did look at a LOT before deciding on this phone. It's only been out a short while and so I've not had it very long, but I've had a play with enough of it to write a rounded review. First looks: No matter how much we like to say it's how it works that matters, I doubt looks ever are not a criteria for buying a phone like this. And I must say, the Galaxy S2 does not fall down. It measures a very sleek 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5mm - making it as far as I can tell, the thinnest ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages short battery life and its so slim you can lose it in your pocket

I finally managed to get a contract phone 3 months ago and this was my phone choice. After much deliberation, about a years worth, this phone came out and it ticked all the right boxes. The phone looked good, it was fast, it had the latest android software, in-built memory and tons more. So I decided that I would take a voyage into the wonders of the galaxy and this is what I found. The first impressionWhen I first took the phone out of its box the first impression was good. The box itself was very basic, just a black box with some words written on it, but this just added to my excitement, as ... more

Advantages Advantages Large screen, excellent graphics and super fast

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many updates, software issues, rubbish battery life

I honestly couldn't wait till my contract was up for renewal to get this phone. I've never wanted an Iphone, but was instantly drawn to this phone. I now totally understand why it was voted phone of the year in 2011. I had the Samsung Galaxy S2 in black for six months, but due to a 'common software problem', I was told the black one was out of stock, so I took the white one instead. Where the hell have I been all my life? Looks wise, the Galaxy S2 looks really simple, whilst being smart at the same time. It has a large screen, with 'Samsung' written in bold at the top. It is the slimmest and ... more

Advantages Advantages Stunning screen, great camera

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Plasticky build

Being a big tech fan I was well aware of this beast before it arrived, following Twitter trends and tech journals in anticipation of what looked to be the best possible Android phone so far. As I owned the previous model, the Galaxy S, I did wonder how much more of an improvement they could visibly make to justify what I assumed would be a heavy price tag. The specifications on paper looked very good indeed, the pedigree was there and now all it needed was something of a wow factor, something to make it stand out for the crowd. Where I went wrong with this phone was expecting a reinvention of ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages battery life and charge time

Hello welcome to my review of the Samsung Galaxy S II, I had to buy this phone because my original galaxy S was launched at my fence by my 3 year old daughter having let her play on the talking cat game. The phone is as close and in some respects better then the iphone it is thin and has a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display with 800 x 480 resolution and a 1.2GHz Dual Core Application Processor therefore just like having a little PC in your hand. The phone has a max sd card capacity of 32GB and built in memory of 16gb which is a good standard, it has an 8 megapixel camera which was the best in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast and attractive phone

Disadvantages Disadvantages battery life isn't that good

Having owned a Samsung mobile phone before I was excited about this phone as it looks great and I was impressed with the first Samsung Galaxy. They have made some great additions to this phone with the 8 megapixel camera, 4.3 inch display and Android 2.3 Gingerbread 1.2GHz processor. In my opinion this makes it the best Android phone so far. The cost is fairly expensive and you can pick one up for about £500 SIM-free or on contract they range from £25 to £40 depending on the deals you choose. The handset generally comes free which is a big advantage over the iPhone who usually make you pay ... more

Advantages Advantages Large Screen, Processor, app market, price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor materials in some places

---- Hardware (general build and feel) ---- Extremely lightweight, very nicely balanced. The handset size seems very good (perfect for a man's hand although my wife also likes it very much), actually hides its actual size due to its thinness and weight. Materials used have a good haptic touch, although it feels slightly less expensive then the iPhone 4 (probably because it uses more plastic and less glass/ metal). The back cover is slightly difficult to remove because it initially feels flimsier then it actually is but unproblematic once you get used to it and no problem at all if you need to ... more

4 Stars Samsung Galaxy s 2 pros & cons Review with images 19/05/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages This phone is amazing. Android gingerbread OS is great and doesn't freeze that much.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life sucks. If you run multiple applications you better close them.

This a great phone. Samsung did good job for this. From it's latest Operating Sytem, downloads from the Google Play is amazing and faster than I thought. If you have bad connection with your data services provided by your carrier, WIFI capability/ option will be a great help. The graphics are better than the Samsung Epic. Speaking of battery life, ugh! It's just that the battery drains faster. If you always stream music and videos via web or youtube, you can only keep the phone active for couple of hours. I hope Samsung will create an alternative for this. But I realize that if you powercycle ... more
