Advantages: Cheap, small. Disadvantages: Average picture and poor video audio, fiddly USB connector, poorly placed zoom lever.
...this review, I compared the samsung to another compact I have, the casio exilim Z750, note this is an older 7.2 megapixel camera. For serious stuff I use my Nikon DSLRs.
==Picture quality==
On the whole, very average quality outdoors and the camera doesn't handle differences with light and dark too well, e.g. very bright sun and dark shadow. In this case, the camera overexposes and produces unbalanced pictures. It does this even in normal light ... ...pictures with both cameras. The Samsung is very slightly slower to release the shutter and slightly slower to process the image. i.e. the image showed up on the viewfinder after the casio's.
The camera also gets pretty slow in low light conditions. The flash is qiuicker to charge though which is welcome. The zoom lever is poorly placed, you can't really operate it with your thumb which is awkward. The menus are intuitive and easy to use and there ...
