Advantages: neat, small, fast Disadvantages: doesn't have an integral paper tray
...We settled on the Samsung ML1610 mainly because of its cost. I did a google search and this came up as a cheap but good model.
TECHNICAL STUFF
+++++++++++++++
It prints up to 16 A4 pages per minute with 150 mhz processor for immediate printout. 2mb RAM installed.
It is classed as "ultra light" being 5.5kg in weight. Easy to use and maintain, front access for toner cartridges and paper insertion.
Toner save button which alleges to save up to ... ...to start you off and then you buy 2000 page toner cartridges.
Instant Installation with no need to restart
150 page printer tray with cover
Well that's the technical stuff out of the way, what about the cost?
COST
+++++
I purchased mine from Ebuyer for £48.99 to include VAT (it is 41.69 net). This is about average price, although I have seen them on sale for £75-£80 in some places. P C World has it for £49.99 store collection only.

Advantages: Small footprint, nice design, cheap Disadvantages: Only 2MB RAM (non-upgradable), USB cable not included
...printers and came upon the Samsung ML-1610 mono laserjet. At present, Samsung is giving a rebate promotion for the ML-1610 here in Malaysia. I bought it for only RM299 (equivalent to GBP£47).
Since I work at home and space is at a premium, I didn't want a bulky printer on my desk. The Samsung is very petite but the build quality is good. It even comes with a protective paper tray to keep out dust. Setup was very quick and straightforward, just unpack ... ...tad light, but you can adjust to make it darker in the printer settings. Graphics appear to have some banding, but I don't print a lot of pictures.
Overall, the Samsung is a very good budget laserjet printer. I have no regrets plonking down my hard-earned money for it. ...

Advantages: Cheap (around £50); incredibly easy to setup and install Disadvantages: External paper tray
It's very easy to set up, as instructions consist of a no-nonsense page of easy-to-follow diagrams. As always, the USB cable is NOT included, so make sure you own one.
Other benefits include a toner save button, ideal if you want to print out drafts of work.
The one disappointment i had, was that the paper tray is not internal, as is usual for laser printers. Instead, the flap at the front folds out to store your paper on and a cheap-looking plastic ...

Advantages: Very Cheap for a laser printer. Toner Save Function. Disadvantages: Slow response time. No Printer USB Cable.
I purchased the the Samsung ML-1610 between 2 and 3 years ago and paid £99.00 which I thought was excellent value for a laser printer. It was the cheapest laser printer onthe market at thetime and I'll admit I wasn't expecting it to be a great printer. I was intending to replace it once I had the money to get a better quality one.
Looks-wise the Samsung ML-1610 laser printer is a great looking printer. It is quite compact and been well designed ... ...still being used with most of Samsung's current printers. The printer prints with reasonable quality. It takes quite some time to start up before it prints (this is when it is heating up to almost melt the toner to the page which is why pages come out of a laser printer warm), but when it starts printing, it can print off several full pages of text very quickly. The printer can now be picked up for just £50, best place I've found to buy: e-bay. At ...
