For my birthday last year i wanted to get somthing that i can listen to my music on. I dont really buy cds or cassettes, i normally download music from the internet. So i decided i want a MP3 player. Looking around various Electronic shops including dixons, currys and HMV all the mp3 players they had were all around £250-300. This for me was too dear. One day i decided to look in a shop just around the corner from me to see if they had any mp3 players. There i saw a Samsung Yepp 64mb Mp3 Player, for only £190. So i decided to buy it, i was very pleased with my purchase and have still got it to ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Small flash memory.

This opinion is about the now rather old Samsung Yepp E-32. As I write, I am using it right now! I managed to get my hands on one just this morning after getting it off ebay for just over £50, which is less than half the price of the current retail version. Although it has been used, it is still in very good condition, except I'd much rather get myself a new set of headphones than use old ones. The headphones supplied match the style of the player, however, I have heard sound quality out of them aren't too great. The Sony headphones I'm using right now are providing tremendous sound quality ... more

Advantages Advantages Sound quality, overall sturdiness, ease of use

Disadvantages Disadvantages battery holding clip, display

As I am a student, and can't afford to buy the newest technology 'off the street', I happened to have a classmate who bought this mp3 player some time ago and was willing to part with it. The first thing I noticed was the slow scrolling display... trying to read a fairly long track name (about 25 characters) can take some time, theres a one second pause between the display of the next character... If you're terribly impatient, this is not the thing for you. At home i plugged in the parallel port cable which is supplied, and tried to install the drivers... but no luck there, it won't support ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small great design

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack in features.

I bought this tiny MP3 player in April '01 and it is a real bopper. It is simple to use and complete with an easy to understand manual. The software is just as simple. Specification are 64MB built in memory but mine is actually just over 67MB. Powered using 2*AAA batteries lasting 10hrs (Alkaline) Included. Large clear screen with 3 lines of text each with 10 characters. The dynamic small design is a mear 65*87*17.2mm weighing 75 grams. A snazzy Aluminium front with plastic back. Transfer speed is fairly good at 1.3Mbps. Takes about 15mins for 64MB. Voice records up to 125 tracks or 256 ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, good sound quailty, recorder, telephone book, free software, guarantee

Disadvantages Disadvantages Napster losing in court, headphones. Memory cards are expensive I think.

I got my 64 Mb in March 2000, and over a year later it still rates as a very good MP3 player that looks pretty nice as well. The sound quality is very good although I tend to sacrifice the quality (96 Kbps) for the quantity (you can manage to fit 25 songs on average). There are also other features that you may or may not find particularly useful; the recorder (I managed to incriminate a few people of naughty things without them knowing that it was recording them), and a telephone book that is ok (you can't store numbers on the Yepp directly but you can downloading them). Another beauty about ... more

Advantages Advantages Great sound quality, looks, features, price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cheesy name, is mp3 really the future?

I bought my Yepp in about October last year after carefully browsing my way through nearly every online shop in the world. With thousands of players on offer I was at a loss which one to choose. After becoming a social recluse and having a phone bill that about equalled my mortgage, I found the player for me. I made the right decision. But why? Design The Yepp has got style in such a big way, it doesn't even matter that the manual has got what appears to be a man smelling his armpits on the front, the player has enough style for the whole package. The silver casing and location of buttons ... more

Advantages Advantages Light, Good sound, 7 Equalizer modes

I have owned my Samsung Yepp 64 player for about 8 months now. I originally bought it because at the time I was travelling to work using the highly reliable, efficient transport system in London, NOT! I had an hour and a half journey each way to look forward to, and I am a gadget freak so I figured I needed to get me a top MP3 player. Nowadays I drive to work so I don’t get as much use out of it as I use to. I checked out all the websites and all the reviews and the Samsung kept coming up time and time again as a top performer and at £200 it was quite reasonably priced. The other player ... more

Samsung have been steadily releasing players in their Yepp line. Trying to develop the Yepp branding like the way Sony used the Walkman brand. The latest players are the Yepp E32 and E64 with 32 and 64 megabytes of memory respectively. As well as MP3 playback they feature audio recording via an internal mic and a phone book feature to store upto 350 phone numbers. Made possible because of the good LCD display. Extra memory can be added in the form of 3.3v Smartmedia cards. Running off 2 triple AAA alkaline batteries the player can run for 10 hours. It connects via parallel port to the PC, using ... more

Advantages Advantages Ergonomic Design, very nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages buttons tended to border on the ludicrously small side

This is not the first incarnation of the Yepp player; indeed the debut product was the 32MB version, which for all intents and purposes seems to be the identical product with less RAM. The newer Yepp player still uses the same Parallel port interface as its elder brother, but it is by no means a dated product and shines with its features and tech appeal. From the very beginning, the impression that this player gives is one of quality, and technical elegance. This is no small statement either, because the Yepp player is very well designed and is even more visually exciting than either the ... more

The Samsung Yepp is defiantly THE beat MP3 player available at present it has been voted the best MP3 player by several MP3 magazines and this is why, the sound quality can not be beaten even at fall volume (which is very loud) it is totally clear. On my 64 MB I can fit 25 of the latest songs and the controls are so simple even a baby could use it. The Yepp its self is 8.5 cm high by 6.5 cm across and 1.5 cm deep this is defiantly pocket size. You also receive Real Jukebox (the fall version) worth £30 and you get Yep Explorer the software you need to transfer the MP3s this is also very simple ... more
