4 Stars A Versatile Netbook from Samsung Review with images 18/03/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Lightweight, excellent battery life, fast processor

Disadvantages Disadvantages Touchpad could be a little more user friendly - it's a bit small and awkward to use

If you travel a lot, carrying a heavy and cumbersome laptop about with you isn’t always going to be ideal. If you are using your laptop ostensibly to surf the internet, then a better option may well be a netbook, which is a pared down laptop designed primarily for the web. My husband bought a Samsung netbook way back in 2006, paying over a grand for the privilege. I reviewed that little beauty in the past – a Samsung Q30 – but with computers improving all the time, I found myself at the tail end of 2009 realising that while it was still a beautiful little piece of kit, there was far better ... more

Samsung NC10 Netbook Background The Internet has, over the years become an addiction of mine and is the one thing nowadays that I would hate to be without. I have been on line for over 10 years and in my time have worked my through a number of home PC's each one more powerful and responsive than the last and just as technology advances so the on line experience becomes more prevalent in my day to day normal life. I bank on line, pay bills on line and am a member of various websites such as dooyoo and ciao along with fan sites for my favourite television programmes and celebrities. Shopping on ... more

5 Stars My new travel toy Review with images 26/03/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Small, stylish, excellent price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not for gamers, small touchpad

I've not had the highest success rate with small laptops. I dropped my 10" Vaio, shattering the screen, it's replacement got stolen and I followed on from these with a 9" Samsung with an external keyboard that eventually just drove me nuts. I'd settled for a larger screened Dell (a massive 13.3" screen) but after 13 months of successful and happy operation the GPU decided that it couldn't handle being so warm for so many hours each day and decided to give up, leaving me with no way to use my otherwise functioning laptop. Swift action was required as I travel a lot and really really need a ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very good accessories, Picks up Fingerprints, Weird button under touchpad

After my white Asus Eee PC 1000H got stolen, I decided to replace it with a black Samsung NC10. The Asus and this Samsung are what is known as a netbook. It?s sort of a small, low cost laptop to let you surf the net, while you?re out and about. I bought it off Dixons.co.uk for £322 in December 2009 (had a 5% off coupon) but it?s going for around £310 at the moment in most places. CHOICES The NC10 is Samsung's first stab at the netbook market and they?ve done a blinding job of it. I believe it even won an award for it. The NC10 comes in three flavours, those being black, blue and white. I chose ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of connectivity - Big keyboard - excellent screen - Good spec

Disadvantages Disadvantages bad sleeve to store netbook - battery life not that long - small touchpad

I managed to pick up this netbook for £299 which is oustanding value - from play.com. The netbook is very light and can fit almost anywhere - it is very easy to carry around - you can set up anywhere and very easily connect to the internet where available. The netbook looks very stylish and everything is laid out well. The keyboard is the biggest i have ever seen on a netbook - its almost full size which is a bonus as I have a lot of typing to do. One disadvantage of this is that the mousepad has been made very small which is a nuisance - you do get used to it but it is not ideal. The specs ... more

I am finally giving you guys the chance to have sympathy for me-the devil-with a revelation-yes, my operating system on my PC is Windows 98! I was the only person in Britain still using it up until last week and so the main reason why the world wide web has slowed down for everyone in the U.K recently. I apologise to all. The reason why my browsing life was still in the dark ages is I had this thing about never buying computer stuff, always able to cannibalise bits from other people or pinch a bit from work, my chunky Pentium 1 testament to. When I fired it up with the handle on the back it ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages errm, are you kidding? NONE that i know of

'ERROR' this message on my old HP Envy was what sparked me to think, 'crap, new laptop needed here'. I am currently studying for my A-Levels, so my laptop plays a BIG part in my studies, holding all of my work, and being a source for information gathering (using the internet), and I can't afford for my laptop to break on me. After sifting through the HUNDREDS of models on offer at a reasonable price, I decided I would follow the Netbook route. Netbooks, being smaller and more lightweight than their laptop cousins, seem to be the way forward. The one that really caught my eye was the Samsung ... more

Advantages Advantages Very compact and lightweight, excellent value for money, great design with brilliant screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages No dvd drive but this is to save on weight and you can pick up an external one for reasonable

Having previously had a laptop my wife recently decided to buy a new computer for herself as she felt she was not taking her laptop with her due to size and weight and so decided to opt to pick up the Samsung NC10 netbook. So you may have noticed that this is a netbook and be wondering what this exactly means...a netbook is a smaller, lighter weight laptop that is simply designed to handle internet browsing, e-mail and office software. The question I was asked by my wife before she picked this little gadget up was would this be able to play games? The answer is yes but of a limited variety as ... more

Advantages Advantages Good styling, great battery, high performance

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor speakers, no HDMI, no real carry case included.

Firstly I would like to re-inforce that we are talking about a netbook and so it is important that this is should not be purchased as an 'ultra mobile descktop', although may function as a laptop replacement, depending upon what you want to do with it; activities like gaming just are not going to happen, similarly abandon all ambitions of installing vista or windows 7 on it; I'm sure given the right settings you would make them run, but there'd be little point for the cost of the resources used! You also don't get a CD/DVD Drive and even if you can get the sales assistant to throw a USB drive ... more

Advantages Advantages sturdy, reliable, quite nippy for a netbook, relativley cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages sound, no ssd option, still can't beat the aspire one

With the netbook market already saturated to the point of that resembling a cat's fur when thrown into a bath (with almost as much fur flying between the competitors), it would seem that we don't need yet another standard netbook joining the ranks. However the samsung NC10 has proven to be a great addition to the market, and managed to undercut nearly all of their major competitors, even if it can't beat the acer aspire one. The NC10 is the usual netbook affair with regards to specs, it is fitted with the defacto standard intel atom, 160GB HDD and 1GB memory, this provides decent performance ... more
