Samsung P1000

I have had this camera for a year and if you are looking a basic camera that does everything, you can't do better for the price. There is no memory card included, so bear that in mind. It is small with a nice big screen and comes with a CD to install on your computer so you can save your photos. The interface is very easy to use and there is just a USB cable to attach to the camera. The photo quality is very good, but I find the zoom is not very good, which is why I have only give it 4/5. At full zoom, the pictures are quite blurry, but for everyday use, this should not be too much of an issue ... more

Whilst the Samsung P1000 is a great little camera, easy to use, good value when it was purchased and looked brilliant in a range of colours. 6 months after purchasing the camera started to malfunction, all of the buttons stopped working at once so although a picture could be taken, it could not be viewed or any of the settings, including the flash and pixels, could not be changed . Two friends also purchased the same camera and both have had expericenced different problems with theirs and have had to replace them. After having this camera for over 12 months I do belive that this is one of the best cameras that you can own and it could ever been a brilliant camera for a young child as it is so easy to use. with the 10.2 megapixels you can get some really good high quality pictures, the battery is long lasting and while on vacation I only had to recharge the battery twice within the lenght of a two week holiday. The flash is brilliant because it is backed up by a second flash. The zoom is brilliant and good for taking long shot photographs. For the price, it offers good functionality. I could not see any benefits of 10 MP over 9 MPs. The optical zoom is adequate. was able to take decent quality pictures at nightime. flash is week, so used 800ASA settings and kept it on a stable base. playing around with it is quiet fun. also if you work with different functions it does perform well. bright sunlight does bring out the differences between an 8 mp and a 10 mp camera. some other features, like 3 different exposure pictures are quiet good. flash is a problem, but I did not really expect anything more from this camera. battery could be ... more
