Advantages Advantages Looks Good, Good Functionality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor battery Life, Badly designed keypad

Background My wife got the Samsung SGH-D800 phone when she went onto O2 from the car phone warehouse and it was a free phone with the contract she was on at the time. She used it for about 6 months, given another free upgrade and then I bought a pay as you go sim with Tesco.net, which I have reviewed elsewhere. For the last 3 months I have been using this phone myself and below are my feelings and experiences about it. First I'll cover the look and feel of the phone and then I will go through the key functionality of the phone. Phone Detail The SGH-D800 is a black phone and it looks pretty ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks good, small and compact, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has given me nothing but problems and the battery life stinks

I have to admit that I am not one for these perky new gadgets that seem to plague the market these days. However, I saw this on offer at Tesco's for £99.99 and thought why not upgrade my old D-500, after all, a hundred pound for a decent phone can't be that bad value. The phone itself looks really nice, sleek and slim, much thinner than my old bulky D-500 and it opens with a smooth slide up front. It is black in colour with a silver outer rim and looks very space age. When you slide the front up the keypad is completely flat and very eye pleasing indeed. It feels well built and comes accross ... more

Advantages Advantages Superb all round phone

    Disadvantages Disadvantages nothing as yet

My Samsung D800. Well saw this on special offer at an online Superstore for £129.00 so I thought what an ideal time to upgrade my old brick. Ordered it and within 24 hours it arrived completely free of delivery charge as well, good old Tesco. What a Beauty a slim sleek black and silver edged slide open mobile, I felt like a big kid with a new toy. The sliding mechanism is very smooth and strong, doesn't give you the impression that its about to stop working or fall to bits, slightly larger at the top as the phone has a large clear screen, but not so noticeable as to detract any of the phones ... more

    Advantages Advantages Nice Looking Phone

Disadvantages Disadvantages Buttons Are Too Small * No Memory Card Slot

I don't usually like to give bad reviews but decided that if I was to make a decent contribution to this site then I would have to stop only reviewing the things I liked! So here goes……. My first impression of the Samsung D800 was very good. It is a black slider mechanism phone with a silver trim, has a nice sized screen which further research shows is capable of displaying 240 by 320 pixels and at 97 x 52 x 15mm and 98g is a very nice size and weight - it's not so small that you spend half your time patting your pockets to check it's still there but you also won't need a wheelbarrow to carry ... more

Advantages Advantages Very thin and compact

Disadvantages Disadvantages Keypad buttons are small

The curvy silver edges make the phone look thinner than the numbers suggest, and the device itself is very pocketable. Although the front is made of smooth black plastic, it is not prone to fingerprints at all, but the same cannot be said for the silver accents around the device. The rest of the phone is mainly made of magnesium alloy, and this gives a very strong metallic feeling. The build quality is excellent, and scratch resistance is above average. Sliding open the phone will reveal a one-piece keypad. It is well backlit and well spaced. Because of the thinness and shape of the rim, the ... more

Advantages Advantages Compact, Great screen, Nice battery Life

Disadvantages Disadvantages Keypad is too small, ringtone not loud enough

I started out before this phone on a Motorola RAZOR, and was very impressed by the slim feel to it. So when i went out looking for my new phone it had to be smaller but still slim. Enter, the Samsung D800. The upgrade to the D500, the D800 weighs practically nothing in your pocket and does not give you an unsightly bulge on the side of your leg when carrying it around in your trousers. The first thing that made me notice this phone was the design of it. The compact look, the colour and the slide feature with a big screen to boot. It fits nicely in your hand and feels very nice to operate. Even ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish and contains everything you need

Disadvantages Disadvantages Didnt live up 2 my hectic lifestyle

The D800 is a stylish and overall a great phone to use. I got it off of a mate who had just upgraded his phone and he said it was one of the best phones out at the time. The main features that attracted me to the phone was the camera, the bluetooth, the MP3 capability and just the whole design of the slide phone which i never have had before. After i got the phone i was immediately impressed. It has everything i wanted but was also a great phone to use. Full of things you can add to it and everyone who sees it likes the look. The phone is very simple to use. Shortcuts can be added to the main ... more

    Advantages Advantages looks nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages goes faulty easily, poor keypad, no message ringtone

I am very disappointed in Samsung that they could release a phone on the Market with so many faults. I brought this phone for my girlfriend as a birthday present but it only last 9 months before it started going wrong. Sometimes while using the camera the picture will just disappear and be replace by loads of different colour lines running down the screen. Also if she slides the phone open up the screen sometimes goes completely white and the phone can't then be turned off. she has to remove the battery and put it back in and even then when she turns the phone on the screen sometimes appears ... more

Advantages Advantages Camera, MP3, Slim/ Compact Design

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Keypad, Build quality issues

I have had this phone for 14 months now and have already had to take it back to the shop twice for repairs. The first of these was black patches appearing on the screen, which I was told was due to a fault with the screen itself. The second was because the phone failed to charge and also broke the charger too, this was apparently due to a short circuit (I think was down to the previous repair, but that\'s just my opinion). As mentioned in other reviews I\'ve read on here, I also find that the keypad is very difficult to get used to and find myself typing all sorts of things in text messages as ... more
