...be honest with you; the Samsung Tocco (F480) was not my first choice mobile; I really wanted an iPhone. Sadly however, you can only acquire one of the Apple-esq wonders if you sell your soul and empty your wallet to O2. Don't get me wrong, I love O2; they have been my one and only network provider and the service has always been faultless. But whereas now I am paying £15 a month for a decent amount of texts and minutes, the lowest tariff for the ... ...been a big fan of Samsung units; progressing from an F400 to a D900 via the D600 - all decent, intuitive and user friendly phones which had served me well. A quick browse of the January sale on the O2 website threw up the offer of a free Tocco on a £15 a month tariff, I thought this was too good an offer to pass up, and so the Tocco was ordered, and would become my new mobile telecommunication and gadget solution.

...and played music, an old Samsung that sadly met its untimely end when he went swimming with it in his pocket while we were on holiday in Thailand. His last phone was the Nokia N95 which I inherited after he died. I used it for a few weeks before passing it on to our daughter, who thought it was really cool and had been eyeing it up ever since her dad had got it. I was happy with my Motorola RAZR V3i as I really didn't need an MP3 player in my phone ... ...and the touchscreen on the Samsung FH 480 Tocco swung it for me - never mind the whistles and bells, the touchscreen represented the future to me, and was what had me signing the contract in the T-Mobile shop. I got my phone free with my Combi 25 contract which lasts 18 months. The Tocco is a beautiful piece of kit - the touchscreen is large and easy to use. The screen has a Widget, which shows the time, date, your calendar and you can place your ...

...hadn't heard much about the Samsung Tocco so I had to make my own mind up about it.
When I got the Tocco it was pretty hard to get a hold of. I had to figure out which button went where and what the widgets are. But once I had mastered this which only took a couple of hours it was easy to use. The touch screen allows easy movability. What else I liked about the phone was that it came with a protective case. This protective case is small and covers ... ...covers the screen. But this case has saved my life numerous times. Without the screen my phone would be scratched to smithereens which is obvious from the looks of my friends Tocco who chose not to put it on. This may have been because it took me a lot of hard work to slide off the metal cover and put the leather one on.
My favourite feature on the Tocco is the music recognition which works every time!! It is amazing though does cost money for the ...

...sensitivity. When I read that Samsung was releasing a touch screen phone called the Tocco I literally spat out a mouthful of putrefied goat's milk. Tocco is Italian for touch, so how many hotpots and involving how many Samsung executives for the Korean company were used when deciding on the name for the phone? It's like mixing kimchi with ice cream.
With such a fusion of epic nastiness, you would also expect the phone to be a sod load of puck, and ... ...my brand spanking new sparkly Samsung 'Touch my screen with your fat finger' Tocco would have no service at all. There was not even the slightest blip on my Tocco phone's signal bar as I move the phone around to get a good signal for a text message to send ...

...quickly changed it for the Samsung Tocco as testing have previously owned Samsung phones & have been extremely pleased with them as i am with this. The first thing that stood out to me about this phone was the size of the screen which compared to other phones I have had is huge! It is also a very slim phone which for me adds to the appeal. Advantages: Sleek, Easy to Use, Disadvantages: Bit Expensive if Bought Outright
I first got my Samsung Tocco [it's more commonly known as a Tocco than the SGH-F480] to a feeling of relief. My Dad had ordered it as part of our switch-over from the dastardly BT to the incredibly accommodating Virgin. However, after several bad experiences with ordering phones over the internet I was fully expecting a full week or two to go by before I was the owner of the Tocco. Not so, as the day after I spoke to a lovely bloke called Nick over ... ...intact and shiny, but there were a number of added things in the box, such as some decent in ear headphones, a swish leather case and the elusive USB cable which with every other phone I have ever ordered has come at least two days after my phone. So, my Tocco and I got off to a good start together. The box was all arty and attractive with happy people on the front who undoubtedly owed their state of laughter to the Tocco and the Tocco alone. The ...

Advantages: Innovative, fun to use Disadvantages: takes getting used to
I got the Samsung F480 recently as a free upgrade from my contract provider, I don't think I would have paid for this phone as I'm fairly clumsy and wouldn't have been convinced the large screen would have lasted more than a month.
The phone itself however isn't as fragile as it looks and I haven't managed to do any damage to it yet (Despite dropping it on several occasions and sitting on it once.) I'm not going to go in all the technical details ... ...the menu's follow the standard Samsung format and you can find everything you need quite easily, the phone is obviously an attempt to rival the i-phone and I have to say the sound it produces is of the highest quality and the battery seems to last forever.
Now for the bad bits, the camera on the phone is 5 mega-pixels but the quality of the picture taken is not great, unless you are right on top of what your taking you'll need to use the zoom function ...

Advantages: Good features and applications, good looking phone Disadvantages: Touch screen too sensitive, poor battery life, poor flash facility on camera
The Samsung SGH-F480 is a great looking, slimline sleek little phone, but in my opinion these touch screen mobiles are vastly over-rated.
The F480 has a wide range of features, camera, mp3, radio, camcorder, bluetooth etc etc and the quality of the features is never in doubt, its simply too sensitive!
For instance when making a phone call, you push the phone too closely to your ear and you cut off the caller! Subsequently, you cannot hear the caller ... ...hard against your ear.
You need to access touch buttons whilst in call and it takes you 2 or three buttons before you can access this. Also beware when the call requires you to select numeric options - after you have finally accessed the keyboard on the screen you may have been cut off or if you do get it to work in time the automated caller does not recognise the number you have entered (as you may have accidentally dialled a number with your ear!)

Advantages: Fantastic camera, great touchscreen with haptics, sound quality awesome, really fast browsing Disadvantages: Screen quality could be better, easily scratched
This is a fantastic little phone!
At first, I was a little upset at the camera quality - being a 5MP camera, you expect a lot from this little thing, so first shots were disappointing, but when you get the right settings for photos - WOAH! this camera really comes into it's own!
Another fantastic thing is the haptics system, which provides vibration feedback when you press a button on-screen, to give you the feeling that you are touching an actual ... ...a fantastic little feature.
The music player and music recognition are also great, showing Artists, Genre, Album etc, just like an iPod would.
The sound it produces for such a little device is phenomenal, calls are really clear and for the music player, it booms out!
The screen quality, especially for viewing photos is a little poor, but once you have transferred the images onto a computer for further viewing, you'll really notice how great the ...

I have had my Samsung for 5 months now and I love it! The stylish design and the easy to use main menu. The phone has alot of feature 5 mega pix camera, video, completely touch screen, Bluetooth, internet browser,3G calling, 8gb memory card ect. ...little apprehensive, after always having Samsung products i wondered if it would live up to it's rivals!
It does! The F480 (Or Tocco as commonly known) is an excellent example in it's class.

Advantages: Light weight, looks great. Easy to use. Disadvantages: not the strongest phone
I bought this phone about a month ago. Very easy to use from the start. Comes with cover as well which is really usefull, as protects the screen. The range of features is brilliant, all via touch screen.
You can access all you fav applications via drag and drop option to save you going into the main menu. The camera is 5 mp giving amazing picture. And the flash is good too as on some phones this can be a let down.
The MP3 player is good, sound ... ...card, this takes a micro sd. I have 4gb.
When writing a text or imputting a phone number you have a keyboard which allows you to type at will. This makes life very simple. Another nice touch (pardon the pun) is when looking through your albums you have a option to drag your pictures to veiw them, very similar to the i-phone. The overall quality and feel of this phone is great. I would highly recommend.
