...in, however I fancied a Samsung phone and they offered me a U700. All I knew was it was slim and silver, sounded good to me so I opted for that. THe phone itself is very light, very slim and metallic silver. Its an extremely attractive phone. You have to slide the front to get to the key pad and when you open the front the screen lights up and displays the usual information, time, date etc. The main functions are done on the front, which is very ... ...want to.
I find Samsung phones extremely easy to use, I have had one before and loved it, and having a Sony Ericsson for a while, I kind of missed the Samsung phones.

Advantages: Stylish Fashion Accessory. Handy Door Wedge Disadvantages: Badly thought out controls. Limited Tone Customisation
...begin?
As already mentioned Samsung have developed a reputation for developing high quality, stylish equipment over the years and at first glance it seems the U700 follows suit admirably.
The appearance of the U700 is undeniably attractive, with its shiny, mirrored surface and clean, sleek lines creating an appealing yet modestly understated image. Astonishingly rigid and robust considering it's slim profile, the U700 really does come across as ... ...little at this point. Samsung do indeed seem to have been seduced a little by the Style-over-Substance fairies, as previously mooted by another reviewer.
The first and to be fair, worst faux pas, is the inclusion of the infuriatingly annoying and shoddy "touch sensitive" buttons on the outer section of the phone. Little miracles of modern technology, that can quite easily send you into an apoplectic rage after a very short period of time. I have ...

Advantages: Looks Disadvantages: Almost everything else
When I first saw this phone in the shop I thought "Wow, I have to have it!". It looks fantastic: sleek, shiny silver colour with no trace of plastic (an "adult phone" at last!) and a big colourful screen. And the camera has 3.2 megapixels! Wohoo!
After using it for a few months now, here is my review. This mobile phone has seriously infuriated me in many occasions, cutting phone calls off, kicking me out of the tool I was using and sending me back ... ...utility. All because of the "touch keys". It would have been so much simpler to use normal keys, but the look wouldn't be the same. These days, I find myself answering to phone calls with the phone perpendicular to my head, in an effort to avoid touching these keys.
The camera cannot compare to the Sony Ericsson ones. My old 2 megapixel W900i makes far better pictures than this Samsung. Indoors, the light is useless the pictures will be "moved" ...

*design are very attractive: slim phone, available in silver colors
*wide screen dimensions
*bigger fonts on screen resolution

...and slim phone and the Samsung U700 certainly fits this bill. If you are looking for a phone that slips into pocket and doesn't make it look like you are smuggling a brick or that doesn't ruin the lines on your suit then the Samsung certainly fits that bill. It looks very funky and has a number of useful features. The camera is passable and in lieu of a proper digital camera will record memories in enough clarity. Advantages: Stylish, Doubles as a Mirror, Slim, Great Camera Disadvantages: Not very loud on max volume & touch buttons irrating sometimes
This model is stylish and the metallic silver looks sleek and modern. It doubles up as a mirror on the screen so when you phone goes into sleep mode so to speak, you can check your lippy whilst on the go. Its probably more of a girls phone as it has soft edges. Its slim and fits comfortable in your handbag or pocket. It has an easy menu making settings etc easy to find. At the maximum volume sometimes i miss it if people ring me. Advantages: Looks stylish, good size. Disadvantages: Takes a while getting used to the touch buttons
This phone looks very stylish. It is a good compact size which can easily fit into a pocket or into the mobile holder in a handbag.
It is silver in colour so very nice to look at. The phone is a slide phone, it has both touch screen to the top to make/recieve calls and to select menu's. The numbers are actual buttons which you would press.
I have found the touch facility much better than the E900, however can be slow at times. It also takes a while ... ...unpreditable. i.e sometimes it will get activated with a touch and other times may need to touch a few times to get it to work.
When making and receiving calls, the phone locks the touch buttons so that you don't cut the call by mistake etc. The only down-side is if you want to release the call you have to unlock and then disconnect.
The menu's are the same as the the D900/E900 ect. It has all the usual features. i.e blutooth, e-mail, wap a 3.2 ...

The samsung U700 is a pretty little device with an acceptable camera and 3G capabilities.
Upon first receipt of the phone I was pleasantly suprised by the solid feel of the device it has a good weight to it, and it doesn't feel like it is made with cheap plastics, I had read elsewhere in reviews that the silver finish around the screen was of poor quality and that it peeled off easily, after many bumps and drops my silver seemed fine, I figured ... ...corrected in later manufactured ones.... oh dear. What people fail to realise is the mechanism that leads to the flaking isn't what you would expect, physical damage, it does stand up to that very well, its weakness is temperature! leaving the phone in my jean pocket whilst i was outside on a warm day was the killer, the heat caused the chrome to bubble up and consequently detach from the phone, making mine go from looking like new to a 20 yr old ...

As a loyal user of samsung phones, previously on pay as you go tarrifs my next phone was always going to be samsung. The nature of my new job meant using my mobile phone a lot more so a contract tarrif made more sense. This one lasted slightly longer but on needing to be returned for a different fault.......this time when switching the phone on it ...

...had very high hopes. Samsung have built themselves a reputation for good quality and stylish mobile handsets. However I don't quite know what happened with this one. Lets start with the good...the phone is incredibly light, sylish and certainly has a "wow" factor. The battery life is good on both standby and talk time. Thats about where it ends though. Here's the problems I found with it. The phone likes to unlock itself whilst in my pocket and proceed ... ...your own text tones nor can you choose your own alarm for the morning (I like to wake up to music rather than one of the awful polyphonic tones that come with the phone). The touch pad is sensitive and slow to respond meaning you are often pressing a button twice as you think it has not registered and then it processes both touches at once. One very annoying feature is that the phone locks itself when you are calling someone which makes hanging up ...

...of my review of the Samsung U700!!!
I have owned this phone for the past 2 weeks so am still learning about it at the moment. I have just read Quininho's review on the phone and I personally haven't experienced it un-locking by accident which is good although I do agree with his review that it does on the rare occasion take a while to do what you are trying to do with the touch screen section and it takes several presses to register.
Appearance ... ...I've been told that it seems to be mainly females who go for this phone and they have recently brought out a 'male' version to appeal to the guys out there.
The U700 is available in the following colours - Blue/Violet, Silver/White, and Gold/Chocolate.
It is an ultra-slim slide-up handset with the numbers protected underneath when closed, the numbers are not touch, only the top layer of the phone is touch and the handset automatically locks when ...

When i first saw this phone advertised i thought i had to have it! And now i have it i wish i didn't waste my money on it! It is by far the worst mobile phone i have ever owned! The touch screen buttons are absoluelty terrible, very tempremental, its really frustrating if you are in the middle of writting a text message and the slightest sweep past the C button (CLEAR) and whooosh your text message has gone forever! I purchsed this phone back in ... ...weeks hassle free use all in all since purhase the other godness knows how many weeks it has spents its time being repaired! First thing to pack up was the touch screen keys, one day out the blue they just stopped working! The next thing that went wrong was the screen kept freezing, after that it would not turn on! Now call me unlucky but i think that just took the biscuit! To look at the phone itself is very appealing a rather good looking stylish ...

Advantages: Good camera, slim and light phone fits in wallet! Disadvantages: Menu structures, usability of features other than as a phone.
I love Samsung phones and I've owned 5 different models, this was my least favourite. While it has many of the typical phone features know to Samsung phones i found the menu structure quite bizarre at times for example simply customising your profile is in a sub-sub-sub menu and I needed to get the manual out to find it! There are 5 alarms so great choice there. The camera is good quality but you need to hold it very still to get a great picture ... ...the quality setting. Taking the pictures off by bluetooth is a pain as you can only choose one image at a time so if you've taken loads it takes a loooong time. I could not get it to download them using the cable to my mac (pc's could be different or perhaps i was doing something wrong but it was not happening!) One of the touch buttons on the phone connects to G and if you dont stop it immediately it runs up a heafty bill quickly simply by being ...
